@@30AndAWakeUp Yes, I followed the link to her web page and bookmarked it. It sounds like a lot of money but, you have to keep in mind that to get a "non" O retirement Visa you have to show monthly income or $25,000 USD (in a Thai bank) + you have to have those records constantly up to date (I believe) every time you go to immigration. This sounds like a much less painful experience.

This visa scheme is really for 2 groups of people on which the Thai government was losing revenue: digital nomads and rich tourists. Digital nomads were doing visa runs. The rich were doing the same visa runs, mostly back to their home countries. As much as I enjoy my trips to Thailand, I am not sure I need to spend $30K USD to do winter stays. I also do not want to make that big of an investment in a country that has a military government. A government that has made so many changes in the last 20 years. You trust the Thai government and I do not.

@@30AndAWakeUp well I looked at it - $20k USD for 5 years isn't *that* bad $4k per year. I just think it's a tad too much vs the yearly visa hassle. It's over 600k baht, which you know goes a long way in Thailand.

@@stangoodvibes Absolutely but it's all relative. For some people 20k is a lot of money for others it's not. The 20 year at 30k comes out to around 120 a month, so that might make more sense to someone financially. But I totally get what you're say. It doesn't make sense for a lot of folks.

i Have heard much about the Thai Elite Visa when i am in Thailand and at home hear in California . i think this is really not good value for the money especially if you are over 50 and can get a retirement visa or a mulit entry visa which during normal times ( which will return ) are the most cost effective ways to stay in Thailand and allows you to travel and return which is not a big deal and for the money that you will save, well let me say it this way Can be spent on your quality of life and enjoyment of travel..This Visa ??? is only good for those that are under 50 and want to live in thailand which could be done by taking classes on learning thai language or if you are working for a multinational can be done if you have skills that are needed in the country of Thailand.. To me im sorry to say it is a scheme for the government to make money that it could not make on regular Visa's . L.A Rob

It's definitely not for everyone. I look at the 20 year Thai Elite Visa I have like a new truck purchase. No one bats an eye in the US when someone spends 40-50k on a new truck that will be worthless in 10 years. This Thai visa is a new truck for me, except it cost less and is worth something for 20 years. I paid money for a depreciating asset that gives me exactly what I wanted: the freedom to come & go as I please in Thailand until 2041. For me it was a great purchase, for others it'd probably wouldn't be.

@@30AndAWakeUp Yes depending on your age this may be acceptable for you but this is highly irregular compared to other countries entry and say requirements.. and those that do need a Visa like this i believe still have check in requirement every 90 days just like a retiree in Thailand

@@intsccents yeah it is a little different but tons of countries have visa by investment options which I think this is similar too. And yeah, still have to do the 90 day report but hopefully in the future it'll be easier to just do it online.

@@30AndAWakeUp I am sure for you this may be the way to go or maybe the only way to stay for a long period with out leaving on a regular basis , I am in my 50s and do have a multi entry plus business visa for Thailand and would not be making any changes to it and even though i could easily change it to a retiree visa i do not see any benefit to doing that at this time... Enjoy your new bike looks like a lot of fun but please wear the appropriate riding gear so many accidents that i have see in Pattaya with tourists have had bad out comes that could be avoided by wearing pants, gloves, shoes and a helmet...no flip flops and shorts like the locals if you want to stay good condition..

@@30AndAWakeUp I don't know if the truck metaphor applies here. It would depend on what other countries charge for a Visa. I understand that it's a relatively poor country. Reminds me of an old Flintstones episode were they learn Judo. Golden level and Diamond level Judo plans.
