    Great video. I like the idea of laminating the instructions for the specialty tools and keeping them in a binder. I will do that from now on. And the tool grid, OH WOW!!! That is so sweet. I will be integrating that into my tool box.

    one of the better ones , not one but two mac trays . ultra organized I like that . only drawback is you cant take out rails when you have socket trays. power drawer who needs it , he doesn't even need to bend over to get his drill much better . Im done watching toolbox tours Ive seen it all now. every shop is different every guy is different every line of work is different . you do what you think is best for what you do as organized as possible.

I have always been a wrench and I will always be a wrench, and I can't afford the huge boxes and all the new shiny stuff. Not knocking it,... if I had the scratch I would probably go nuts, but since I am just a broke Harley tech I try to make sure I can justify every dollar I spend on a tool instead of on my babies,... so I make myself content to just flip through the catalog,... drool a little and get grumpy for a bit.

    Hello Irish Garrett,
    I just finished watching your toolbox inventory. I must say, I really like your Snap-on EPIQ Extreme Green with Titanium trim toolbox. You also have a nice collection of tools & very well organized too. I made my 1st toolbox inventory here on CZcams about 1 1/2yrs ago. I know that you are enjoying your toolbox every day. How do I know that you do? Because I enjoy my EPIQ every day. It's the best & last box I will ever buy. Thank you for sharing your toolbox inventory with us.

    Thank you very much for this detailed tour. If I may ask a question Sir: I also have two of the big Snap On boxes - one for the common tools, one for specials (I also only work on HDs). I work on 3 lifts - the longest way from the main toolbox to one lift is about 9 meters. Although I like it organized, I find it annoying to always collect the basic wrenches, nuts etc. from the box when working on a bike. In the past months I got used to a roll car having all the basic tools (all wenches, nuts, Allen sets, ratchets etc.) on it for working on a bike and I only come back to the tool boxes when I need something “special”. The positive thing is that you have all the main stuff directly at the bike. The downside is, it is kinda messy. So the question is - how do you do it? Do you go to your box for every nut or do you collect all the basic things in the morning and return them in the evening? Thank you very much for your input and regards from Germany.

    • @ScaredyCatArcade
      @ScaredyCatArcade Před 5 lety +1

      That's how I do it. I have a 52" tool box, a storage cabnet for like a garage and a roll cart that has all my sockets, sae wrenches, screw drivers, as well as other every day items. Easy to move around if needed

    • @IrishGarrett
      @IrishGarrett  Před 5 lety +1

      I've also dealt with the same frustrations. I purchased a Matco locking cart, but all that happened was I ended using it as add on storage before I got the side locker. Now I have kinda transitioned it into my Electrical box with my soldering tools, pin tools etc inside. I just got tired of lugging it around the shop. Instead I bought my guys rolling trays, and they have been great.

      The Bluepoint Torx drivers are Bluepoint Set Number BLPEVA9 and include sizes T8-T40. 99% of the time I am using the T25 and the T27 on Harley switches and handlebar control clamp bolts, so if you're just starting out and are on a budget those are the two I would start with. An awful lot of the Torx screws on the newer Harleys can be removed with these two sizes. Feel free to ask if you have any other questions.

    The tools do the work. The box is for organization which helps the work go faster and more efficiently. Buy either as needed and whatever suits you. Just remember cheap junk tools can let you down and possibly hurt you in the process. This is what my shop-mentor taught when I started many years ago.
    I wish I could be so specialized that I could get buy on that amount of tools...I load nearly that much stuff out of my boxes to go out on road calls! LOL
    I dislike side lockers for the extra hassle of opening the door and then the drawer for the desired tool. My toolman has tried to sell me another one to "even out the set" but I will only ever have one for bulky stuff I rarely use....Oh, and with spending the money on an 84" roller, locker, and a hutch, I just went the lazy route and got the ready made lights! LOL Whats another couple hundred bucks when you're spending close to 10K anyway? They have lasted 6 years or so until the LED driver unit in the hutch went bad and I pulled it apart, found the MFR's info and ordered it online for about 20 bucks.
