Very well explained by the bigger gentleman awareness and distance are key with your intentions. Great detail guys.
Good advice and one thing I always work with people on is situational awareness. This was drilled into us in the Military and most people walk around with no awareness of where they are, and what is going on. So stop walking around with the phone, pay attention and keep your head on a swivel meaning you look front, sides rear up and down. When you go into establishments as has been said, look for how the place is laid out, where the exits are, where the bathrooms are, and check and see if you can get out of the window in the bathrooms. Also look for places of cover and concealment. In the US people carry guns so cover means things to hide behind that a bullet will not get through, concealment is finding a place to hide.. Don't sit with your back to the doors. Take a second and get the feel of the place, and if it is rowdy or something does not feel right, leave,
Also do not look like a target Criminals look for the easy target, they do not like light, they look for someone who does not walk with confidence.
If you are not aware make it a habit to be aware.

Just on another note. Some folks do carry weapons. First don't carry a weapon if you are not proficient with it, you can have it taken away and used against you. if you are gong to pull a weapon you are committed to using it so make it count Know you laws I live in America and many here carry firearms, and many weapons are legal, but you have to follow the law of your state, and know them. On firearms if you buy one, get the permit to carry it and get good training, and if you pull the weapon you better be prepared to shoot and kill If you are not prepared to kill with the weapon you carry then don't.
Master Wong is in the UK, and things are very different there, so they are more strict on what weapons one can carry, so if you are coming to the US it is a very different game here.
Laws vary from state to state in the US and some places have a stand your ground law, some states have mutual combat laws, and other states are not tolerant of self defense. So know the laws of the states you are traveling too, and if traveling outside of the US know the laws of the country you are traveling too.
