,
I picked up the TopOff and used it to power the ice water circulation machine that my friend required post shoulder surgery on a 2-1/2 hour drive from hospital. Flawless!
Wow. Modern times huh?
Yeah my story with it! I work security as a second job, and use this every other day to power my stream light, car light and phone! It’s not perfect but if it ever dies I’m getting a new one asap! Probably two of them
How many pairs of glasses can he fit on his head
I didn't even notice he had three pairs of glasses on
At least 7
All of them.
I think that needs to be a video. Just him doing shenanigans

It ran a box fan, on a hot day when the power starts to go out because the closing of power plants
This sure will come in handy
I use it to temp in lights as an electrician. I also made my own lamp out of a lighting socket and a plug connector. Works great!
Stop selling tools in the old molded boxes and move on to only selling the Packout cases with laser cut foam inserts. Feed my addiction and you can take my money. Are you listening, Milwaukee?
Excellent idea!
Great video, the man is honest, as an electrician for 38 years I would have done the same thing, tested on everything and anything
I have one for my son! He is on a feeding tube that needs to be charged! I needed a portable power generator and new milwaulkee tools! 2 birds! Wife approved!
This is great! I have two batteries so I can use this to charge the other one and when thats done, I can use that one to charge the first one. That way ill never run out of battery. Thx
I stay in Florida, this is a must have during hurricane season. Getting one as soon as it's available at the home depot.
If you have a lot of power outages during hurricane season honestly you should get a generator they are useful as hell when you need them and you can get a good one for like $400-$600 (if you’re buying a used one)
@@dckcheese2122 Good looking out, we have one already. Just don't feel like wheeling it out of the shed, every time the power goes out. Like 5 days ago, when we had a T-storm. Power was out for a few hours and this little red beauty was able to charge a couple of phones, my laptop and run a fan. Highly recommend everyone go pick one up.
@@BunB4523 ah ya I have a bigger garage so we don’t gotta dig it out, I forget people don’t have it out as convenient as me, but ya I get that it is nice be able to charge some things without getting out the generator
Working out of my truck in the middle of now where...I would find this device extremely useful when plugging my laptop and phones. Thank you for ALL your great views!!!!!! Shout out from the Eagle Ford Shell!!!
I appreciate how serious you take your research 😄
This is also great for school athletic functions for keeping laptops and cameras charged or Led lights for those early Raider Comp mornings
I wish Milwaukee would make one with a pure sine inverter to provide safer AC power for plugged in devices
Mine kicks ass, love it. Got a 100w electric blanket to go for over 2hrs on an XC5.0 battery on the highest heat setting, couldn't believe it. When I get the HD12.0 I'll run the blanket on medium heat and see if I can get most of a night out of it. We'll without a doubt be able to use it for winter camping in the 4Runner.
I've had one of these for years but I still watched your video in it's entirety. An absolute necessity for the homeless Mechanic's out there. Trust me
I like mine lots , I even use it at home for charging sensitive devices , when thunder and lightening are on the agenda !
Do you not charge your devices from a surge suppressor instead, and then only use the Milwaukee inverter AFTER the thunder and lightning takes your power out?
Belts and boxes recorded an entire episode during a electrical blackout with 1 topoff and a 12 ah battery. Several lights a camera and all kinds of crap. Enough said
@@loucifer323 you clearly didn't watch the same video from Belts and Boxes.

Thanks vince for taking the time out of your day for us
I brought mine home put it on a 4.0 battery, that's what i had fully charged and ran a power supply with input of 115 v ac60hz 270w output of 12 amp constant. powering a amateur radio that was receiving and I did some transmitting. It ran for 3 1/2 hours
Happy Thursday, VCG and the Gang! Keep up the great job 👍😍
I had seen it a couple of months ago was going to place my pre order. Now I'm really getting it. Not just 1 but 2, my kids will love this. I hope they'll give me back my M12 Bluetooth radio charger back. Thanks VCG
Thanks for trying different things. I think the fan is a pretty big plus.
Legend says every time he scratches safety glasses they just shift upwards to the top of his head while a fresh pair sprouts from his face.
(safety glasses that have shifted to the top of his head also negate the need for a hard hat)
Thanks vince i saved $100 because of your thoroughness yet again thanks bro
This is a great show now days hehe I’ll tell ya it’s exiting to see such a test , so small battery yet it’s strong nice inverted
Best review of the Top Off ever!
It worked with my corded Milwaukee orbital sander. Yes I know there is a M18 sander now but as much as I use it this works for me.
I keep fully charged ups boxes around the house. Works good to "trick" them to turning when power is out.
Thanks Vince! I think I'll still buy it, it's cheap enough for what it does.
Its rated at 1.75amp and he plugs in 10-20amp things lol
Actually its 1.45 a
@@phild1816 close enough I don't know the efficiency rating of the device or the actual operating voltages.
To be fair he knew it wouldn't work but gave it ago any ways
This will keep everything charged in the bedside stand, my wife is going to love this
You don't have outlets in your house?
@@jacobsebastien3910 no we are off grid
My man Vince risking his laptop for us. Also he's like NO EFFFSSS GIVIN PLUGGING A DEWALT CABLE INTO MILWAUKEE TOOL! Haha love it!!!
Excellent review/demo, that is one cool item. Thanks
I wish I could use my corded tools with this when I don't have access to a power outlet on the job site this would have so much value then
I fix Milwaukee tools for a living and I got to play with one of those top offs. Fun fact you can charge a m12 battery with a top off and a rapid charger.
Great video. Thank you for this and your entertaining approach to an inverter. 😆
Vince, thanks for sharing.
I LOVE the idea of using your (very expensive) power tool batteries for things other than “just” powering tools (nothing is ever enough for us gear heads, huh?!).
I have an Ego mower/trimmer/leaf blower, and three of their batteries (including the 7.5 Ah monster) and I use their 150W inverter to charge my phone/tablet/laptop when I’m off the grid. I work from home, and sometimes travel in my RV during the work week, so I need a way to power a few things while not connected to shore power. I have plans to add solar panels/big battery bank/inverter to my RV, but that’s a ways off in the future (probably 2-3 years). I plan on getting the Topoff soon, so I can have redundancy when it comes to powering my devices critical to my work when off grid.
I think it would make a ton of sense for Milwaukee to develop a device similar to the Ego Nexus Power Station. Give us a pure sine wave inverter (at least 1,000 Watt peak) with four battery ports, two or three 120V outlets, a few USB ports, and here’s the real feature: a built-in solar charge controller that would allow us to plug in a portable solar panel (100-200W) to give us the means to charge our batteries while completely off the grid. Cherry on top: the device will integrate into your packout stack.
I really hope that something like this is on Milwaukee’s radar!
Yes - a Jackery type of solar enabled power inverter that we can attach several M18 batteries and have an inverter to give 120V regulated (for electronics) at least 1000 Watts. The batteries that we all have is half the cost of these solar generator.
Power tool battery packs use 3.7 volt 18650 Li-Ion cells that cost about $5 each wholesale. M12 battery packs have three 18650 cells connected in series.
good idea this tool adapter plug for mobile folding solar panels and or bi-directional power
as is i like the general idea of smaller power supply and not dragging a gass/diesel 5KW generator or bigger/heavy battery-packaging for one ish tool/need

2 years later and they released something close, but unfortunately not good enough. They now have a m18 power supply, 4 battery ports, 2 outlets, 3600w/1800w, but needs all 4 batteries to run, no solar, and not integrated with packout. If they made it so you could run on one or two batteries while swapping the rest, that would be fine. Packout integration really doesn’t seem like it would be that difficult when you’re looking at this current design…they easily could’ve done exactly what you said; make a modified rolling box or even the XL. Could’ve had room to store extra batteries with that sort of design. Guessing they’re saving that for a fuel version/ second gen, and I’m no electrician but solar connectivity seems like it wouldn’t have been that hard either, especially if we’re providing our own equipment. They could make solar panels built into a packout power supply similar to the packout lights (they flip/fold out and rotate from the sides. That would be the ultimate electric power supply lol
Liked 5 times for the Hall & Oates reference while I'm listening to them.
Reason I was considering getting one was for my shop vac. Thanks for testing!
For real?
Just buy the M18 shopvac.
Well that would suck... or wouldn't suck... you know what I mean....
Getting one for blackouts and earthquake prep kit.
Since cable internet is still live in the cable during a power outage, I might buy this to power my modem & router in such case.
Used mine primarily for remote work site and indoor fumeless lighting
I run two of them in series to get 240 volts for my shop heaters. Im pushing 4000 watts and haven't tripped my main breaker yet.
This would be great to test outlet led troffers before installing them on my side jobs 😬
I work on Building Automation Systems. A lot of times, I will have my controllers installed, and am waiting on the electricians to get power to the controls. I have used the Milwaukee Top Off to power the controllers, got them online, and was able to set up the controllers and have them programed, before power was ran. A 6.0 Amp hour battery ran the two controllers for five hours, and still had a bar left.
I think its really useful. I used it to plug a Weller soldering iron into it to fix an issue I had with a loose electrical connection out by my car and it worked very well. Also the best portable charger I have ever experienced.
Gonna get one now. Keep up with the awsome videos
This would be great to have for when I'm in the field and can't get to an outlet.
First time I saw this I went out and bought it. It's been a great tool all around. Great for having portable power for charging a phone, or a laptop for work. I've used it in limited capacity for certain key cutters I have. I've also plugged in a blower fan to it and used it as a quieter cordless alternative to my Ryobi. It has it's limited but cute charms to it's usability. I most like the fast USB-C charge port.
It would be handy if there were something else with more power that Milwaukee made. I know they have their MX system "generator" but that's a lot of dough to drop. I'd prefer something with say 2-4, maybe even 6 bays that gives up to 1000-1500 watts of pure sine wave power
Would this be powerfull enough to run hair clippers ?
@@gustavomacall4997 it might if the Clippers are under 175 watts but those likely run better with a pure sine wave inverter so not ideal
like the idea but i have the 80V mekita system, and really love the idea of turning my vacuum-90's model into a cordless using adapter like the one in video plus the flexibility it give's for others things. other tool brands need this and or slacking and need to make a better version of this 😉👍🤠
PS. it would be nice if it has a BI-directional function for power and stand by mode for whatever the power go's out
I think it's worth the purchase. Living between S.E. Texas and Southern Louisiana this top off can sure come in handy during hurricane season or any other situation were power is out.
I agree, I live in Louisiana
I like this guy he try he best to connect for everything I like that
I can't be the only one that wants to see how you guys mounted those Milwaukee battery chargers in your shop. Genius!!
Pretty sure he did a video while back called tower of power or something like that but he did do one
Love the review but tell Milwaukee it's time for the generator systems already like let's go ! Merry Christmas
” Topping off”the union guys are going have jokes for days
This is cool. Basically a mini inverter. I've got a 200ah battery in my truck with an 800w pure sine wave inverter- that thing will run a freezer in our truck for a week. Course the battery weighs about 110 pounds, but still.
I need one of those, to my tool arsenal
Yes please do a long term review of the biscuit jointer.
The video I was waiting for!
0:25 A bigger cordless table saw with optional 120V AC power!
It's badass! They should be a tower so you can add more batterys for more potential!
Just wait until somebody figures out how to hook them up together in parallel/series.
I was curious if there was such a thing that someone could use to do that!
@@stevenschwarz6358 the hard part is keeping the AC wave in phase with the other unit.
There is a guy on YT that does that.
@@nandos1111 Could probably just put the batteries in series so you dont have to deal with that
At this point get a solar panel fr... You can keep a fridge cool all day in a truck no prob. Good thing is: The less the sun, the less the need to cool.
Definitely getting one of these bad boys for camping and shop stuff.
LOL !!!!!
I need one of those. Thanks Vince !!!!!
Need a Demo guy? Vince got me fistpumping the ceiling with that intro!!!
Great review brother. I like that you tried everything.
This is my first video from you I ever watched. You are too funny man. Earned yourself a sub
Just got one all the questions i had answered thanks
I bought the top off to power a small household fan while at work. Noticed ot wasnt running the same as when plugged into the wall. Tested the top off with my meter and only got 107 volts. Its great for smaller items but probably nothing with a motor. I ended up getting the milwaukee m18 fan but kept the top off in case i ever need to plug in a light or charge something.
I am getting one for sure!
Im getting mine this Friday!
I've never been so excited
I’ll wait for the price to come down. I already have the Ryobi version and if I remember right, it goes up to 150watts. So, it’s not much less wattage and I think I got it for like $20.
lol The fan voice at the end is definitely a classic
I bought two of them so far to use on job sites, ( I’m a fire sprinkler fitter) and my intentions for it we’re charging batteries and runing lights off of it and a few odds and ends here and there, glad I watched this review thanks guys!
did you hear about the Fire Protection Engineer who embezzled millions and fled to Tehran? His plumber accomplice was not as fortunate,
Had a power outage and wish I had this. Also wish I would have seen this before I got one last week. Had an electric staple gun and figured it should work rather than running multiple cords to reach. Unfortunately it wouldn't shoot a staple. As far as taking it back. As long as I can make it financially for the week I will keep it.
Gotta have that tool. To know you can plug in a box fan and charge your stuff during a blackout is enough for me. Wonder if the tv would work with it.
Vince, would love to see a long term review on that DEWALT biscuit joiner 👍👍😎
My question is how many milwaukee battery's can you charge with one milwaukee battery
vince u gotta do a video on this
LMAO 🤣🤣🤣🤣
For real, this was my first thought!!
For sure, less than what battery you are using..
I have to wonder if it's not just about the draw, but they way the device draws the power, that is, needs a big leap to get going.
I wonder if there will ever be an M18 drill press, biscuit joiner or belt sander.
I love the stary night print.
I like that, it will be a good thing to have in a blackout. This past summer during a blackout because of storm damage I used my M12 batteries to keep my phones and tablet charged and my M18 lights for light. This is even better because it will pretty much charge all my devices. And since I have a lot of M12 and M18 tools I have a lot of those batteries.
Good for camping
Hey bud, great video, do you know if these will come out in Australia?
I bought one yesterday. Pretty cool.
I ran a test and it charged my iPad at 30W with a USB-C to Lightning cable. And my Dell XPS-13 at 40W. It’s a great little charger IMO. I’ll rarely use the 120v outlet as it’s not a clean sin wave. And basic rule of thumb for the AC outlet, if your device has a wall adapter or power brick, the Milwaukee can probably charge it.
did your box fan complain about the harmonics? I saw some techs from the power company driving along a 500-kV transmission line looking for a 6th harmonic that some sound studio in Hollywood was complaining about. ADL/RIN Line.
@@melaniecotterell8263 no but my oscilloscope doesn’t like it.
I think I'll get one and see if it will power be my go-to mount on my telescope
Got it!..love it outside for our phones
I was looking for this Top-Off a few weeks ago, right before Hurricane Ida came through, as well as right after. Guess what? Milwaukee Tools DROPPED THE BALL, and didn't have any delivered to this area in either HD or Northern Tools. They didn't even have any MX Carry-On or batteries either. So, we only had the smaller, USB topper available to charge our phones. I definitely could have used one of these to power a fan at night.
They just replenished the shelf at HD with (2) of these, and one is freaking Broken.
i have this device, i charge laptop, i run a 32 inch 4k TV. tablets, ect.High inrush current surge devices above rated power will not work. I use my Worksharp sharpener, and my drill doctor. Depends on your needs. I found a deal with a new 5 XC battery and top up for 139$ at home depot. i snatched it up. For me, worth every penny.
@VCG Construction; Yo, Vince! You keep adding a new set of glasses each new video, pretty soon you’ll be looking like a spinning rack at LensCrafters.
Love the video. Literally just picked up my Top Off at Ohio Power Tool here in Columbus where you were showing off the Packout Mods from JakeOfAll a year or two ago. (Just rewatched that video and was like, “Wait a second....that’s my neighborhood!”)
I have one of those
Run the angle grinder just fine
And hummer drill
Not problem
They did release a new Tower light, but that ain't it LOL! - Love You Guys! Happy Holidays!
I think for the price of $100 this is going to be a tool as fast as it comes in you'll see it go right out of stores my 2016 Ram sport has a outlet in the dash and I never really had to use it. So you get a few people to buy it as a gift. Milwaukee you can use M12 heated jacket charger or they have almost the same thing $30 hooks up to the M18 battery
perfect video, solved my curiosity
Milwaukee make same sweet stuff. The top off will probably catch flack because it can’t run your house during a power outage, but I’ll for sure be buying on for job site laptop mobility.
I ordered 2, can't wait.
Awesome review!!!
I suppose it has its uses, but I think it's pricey for what it is and my truck has 120 v outlet so not usually far away if I needed it. Could power up a tv and roku and phone with hotspot so you could still watch VCG videos if the power was out!
