    Thanks for this, I honestly thought they weren't working, but I was using them the wrong way. Have had a try and it's great.

    Just got some from Screwfix. Waited a day for them to come from the warehouse, and had no instructions! Watched this and it ended up being quicker than reading any anyway! Well explained - many thanks!

    It would be good to see them cutting the advertised 50mm dia branches like the larger ones on your conifer. My guess is the jaw would simply push the branch out rather than grip it at 50mm, could you demonstrate for us?

    • @MarksHouseandGardenUK
      @MarksHouseandGardenUK  Před 10 měsíci

      Hi max. I haven't got the loppers now. I accidentally ran over the handles in the car. From memory I do think they coped with 5cm ok. They plate which the blade cuts against is quite grippy. But you may be correct and certainly there is a limit to the diameter.

    Surely at that size of wood a saw would be the easiest and cheapest thing to use? Looks like a nightmare to handle. Still, great video - Subscribed, LIked and Notified.

    did you find that it god stuck with jaws not releasing and how did you fix it

    • @MarksHouseandGardenUK
      @MarksHouseandGardenUK  Před 5 měsíci

      I didn't find they locked but I did find that they could get stuck in the log or branch if I tried to tackle something too thick. Mark

    My blade has jammed and I'm trying to find a solution - any help would be appreciated

    • @MarksHouseandGardenUK
      @MarksHouseandGardenUK  Před měsícem +1

      Hi there. I had mine jam once or twice. Here's what I tried and it did release... first, don't do anything so aggressive as to break it. obviously check the lock isn't engaged. Then try gently shaking and wriggling the handles to encourage movement. Next, try a hose pipe (water) and squirt it into the mechanism from all angles as power as possible (I'm not suggesting power washer just hosepipe) then do the wriggling and shaking thing again.

    • @MarksHouseandGardenUK
      @MarksHouseandGardenUK  Před měsícem +1

      Ps. Also I would say look into the mechanism just to check there is no debris in there which can be gently dislodged

      @@MarksHouseandGardenUK Thank you my friend - so kind of you to reply. We've unscrewed the two big nuts and it immediately unjammed. I've then sprayed the mechanism and everything else with WD40 so hopefully we've sorted it. I'm terrible at anything DIY related so I'm immensely grateful for your input. Cheers 🍻

      Lol, this made me laugh. It sounds like we have similar feelings about conifers. Watch the video where we rip the enornous root from the ground with a 70 year old tractor. Thanks for watching. Mark

    My wife bought me same one for Christmas and only just started using now and it's stopped working after a couple of days. When I open it to the fulest, it doesn't spring back open.

    • @MarksHouseandGardenUK
      @MarksHouseandGardenUK  Před 2 lety

      Hi. This has happened with mine a couple of times. Before you return them just have a quick look inside the mechanism, mine got a tiny piece of twig inside which stopped the spring working.

    • @dehdeh3888
      @dehdeh3888 Před 2 lety +1

      @@MarksHouseandGardenUK i wasn't sure whether to open it or not. My wife wouldn't want me to open it incase I can't return but I'm always willing to have a go.

    • @MarksHouseandGardenUK
      @MarksHouseandGardenUK  Před 2 lety +1

      @@dehdeh3888 oh i agree, i wouldn't open it. That would invalidate the guarantee. Kind peer inside and also consider squirting a hose through. I think one of the downsides of the mechanism is that there are inevitably little cracks and crevices for stray objects to enter.

  • @RB-mg6jc

    So why is there not a stop of some kind to stop it keep springing open 🤷🏻‍♂️

    • @MarksHouseandGardenUK
      @MarksHouseandGardenUK  Před 4 měsíci

      Yes. Having used it, it is designed to spring open when you deliberately open them to the max full opening. Otherwise if you don't fully open the ratchet will stay engaged. I hope that makes sense. Mark

    I cringe everytime I see a video where the person in the video points with their tender, juicy fingers at the cutting mechanisms of the tool. Be sure to keep your fingers really close to the cutting head.

  • @machonsote918
    @machonsote918 Před rokem

    Sorry but it doesn't last long.
    It's half-decent with soft wood like the one on the video........is that a "marshmallow" tree?
    BUT (notice the big BUT), when you use it for dry Oak, or even dry Mesquite, the gears end up slipping and before you know it, you have to use a hammer to hit the back of the blade to get them to engage.
    DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!
    It's supposed to have a lifetime guarantee but that's "bull", too.
