Glacier Express (Full Movie) - a bikepacking adventure around Iceland

In May of 2023, my friends and I made the decision to cycle around Iceland. Initially, our plan was to cross the highlands located in the center of Iceland. However, as we know, things don't always go according to plan in Iceland. This movie depicts our three-week bikepacking adventure in one of the most iconic islands in the world.

Looks like you were about two months too early in the season. The highlands dont start to become accessible until early july and some parts of it late july. Closed off to all traffic due to spring thaw. Rivers rise and snow fields still dominate the landscape and the soil is so very soft that it should be left alone until it has dried out.
Hope you will make a return visit for the highlands. Visit Fjallabak, Landmannalaugar, Askja, Kerlingafjöll and a plethora of other places to enjoy.

We used the helsport lofoten 3 person tent. But if you want to cycle in Iceland I would recommend to but a good geodesic tent. One of our tent poles broke at the end of the trip caused of the strong winds.
