also an important thing to remember: you can't start a war on a member state of HRE while already at war with the emperor, so if you don't ally all electors, you must make sure the rest are allied to the emperor and will join the war (or are allied to someone outside the HRE you can daclare on, or just co-belligerant enough to call all electors)
Agree, playing as France I most of the time dismantle it. At some point in the early game (especially with regards to Burgundian succession), you can declare a second or third war just to fight the emperor and dismantle the HRE. And you gain 100 prestige for that, btw
Do I sense an updated "dismantle the HRE" speedrun?
I was able to do it as Poland by 1445 but it required complete RNG of electors and declaring on Hungary when they’re allied to Austria.
I think they should add a mechanic wherein if any outside country is able to dismantle the empire (at war with all-non ally electors and the emperor) than there should be a “Empire in crisis” event that calls every single member of the empire to the war and if the Emperor wins he gets 30 Authority instantly.
The minor nations literally are the vassals of the emperor and aided him in wars almost always(before the reformaton) historically and if lets say France was at war with the emperor and had invaded and occupied the Electors there is no way the vassals the make up 80% of the empire will just wait idly by as their country is destroyed
The problem with this is that there are many buffs to nations that become less impactful if you grow bigger, and so even with France, Poland-Lithuania, England, and Castile it would be a hard fought war or a loss. If they wanted to implement this they would have to remove all base yearly income and land force limit, which would make small nations unplayable. They also already kind of have this system by giving the emperor extra land force limit, yearly tax income, and manpower to represent the other HRE nations providing soldiers and money.
Sometimes it is also good not to dismantle, with absolutism you can just go in and kill the Emperor for free while attacking a member state and you can just repeat that until the HRE is just gone. Also personally I would not dismantle the HRE as Papal States as you can even become Empire Rank while in the HRE which is pretty funny and lowkey broken.

When I played the Papal States the protestant league won the war (I didn't join the catholic side, becasue the protestants were far more powerful - they had the Ottomans, Commonwealth, Sweden and GB, while catholic Iberians didn't join either). After the war Brandenburg was the only elector and Anhalt was the Emperor. I just no CB Brandenburg and dismantled this unholy mess immediately :P
@@SereglothIV nah man when I played PayPal states I helped Austria clear the heathens, i am not even sure if the Protestant League formed as the Reformation Center were pretty weird and I killed 2 of them instantly. It was such a fun game, I did own all of France, Italy, Margrebh, Egypt, Anatolia and most of the Balkans and was a few provinces and Iberia away from the Roman Empire borders but there were my allies I did not quite decide who to backstab. All while being part of the HRE which btw was 2 reforms away from revoke, which would be funny as I was way stronger then Austria because all of my states were like 20 dev even in mountains. I would just wish that Kingdom of God would give Austria a bit of a idea buff or just allow you to elected the pope and see his skills before hand, ooor a bit of a mission tree update like something larpy "Root out Heresy" where no GP/European State/any country can follow another Christian Faith but Catholic and you get more tolerance of the true faith plus manpower in true faith just something more cool would be so nice for the Papal States.

question for you zlewikk have you seen what happens if you try this when the emperor has already revoked privelegia? is it even possible at that point?
Do you need a specific type of DLC to dismantle it? Or is it also possible to do it in the vanilla version of the game?
