The reason they get emotional to the Surah recitation is simple. They understand the meaning of the Surah with their hearts, not just their brains.

I appreciate you guys taking the time to give an honest and open reaction to quran recitation, especially surah (chapter) Haqqah which is a powerful surah about the day of judgement.
I think you have some assumptions about islam which I wanted to clarify, and also some interesting points which I want to expand on:
3:55 to briefly summarise this surah, in the beginning it mentions the stories of some prophets and peoples of the past (e.g., Thamud & Aad) and how some of them disbelieved despite being given clear signs. Then it moves on to talk about the day of judgement, comparing a person with the book in their right hand (people of paradise) and in their left hand (people of hellfire). I know you mentioned a pessimistic point, but just to clarify I think the main reason the imam (person reciting) and the muslims following behind were getting emotional is because they understand the meaning of the surah and they don't want to be among the people who are punished on the day of judgement. Perhaps they also have family members who disbelieve - only Allah know what's in their hearts. But it certainly isn't the case that they are trying to get emotional, because this isn't something you have to do when listening to quran - most people just listen attentively.
6:35 you mentioned that you disliked people looking down on others because they "know" that they will be punished in the afterlife. I agree with this. In fact, this type of arrogance is not conducive with islam - such that you think you are better than someone because of your perceived high level of faith vs their low level of faith. Allah mentions the fate of arrogant people many times in the quran, such as in chapter 31 verse 18.
10:20 you talked about playing mind-reader with people, and people that do that to try and guess intentions and whatnot. This is something that is refrained upon in Islam. Allah says in chapter 49 verse 12: "O' believers, avoid many suspicious (assumptions), [for] indeed some suspicions are sinful..." So the lesson from this is to avoid making many assumptions about people, because you may be wrong about some of them and assume badly of your fellow brother/sister in humanity. Instead, you should try and make good assumptions, i.e., to be optimistic and forgiving of someone's intentions. As an example, a bad assumption of the people in this video is that they are forcing their emotions to 'look good' or 'look pious' for whatever reason. Whereas a good assumption is that they are genuinely emotional upon hearing the quran.
16:35 this is an important point you brought up; a common question that many ask to muslims which is what about the practicing believers of other religions, will they also go to hell? There's a few things to mention.
    1. it is not automatically the case that all non-muslims will go to hell. Allah says in chapter 17, verse 15: “And We never punish until We have sent a Messenger (to give warning).” Allah knows that there will be people who have not heard of the true message, e.g., people who lived between the lives of two Prophets, remote peoples like in the Amazon, etc. There will also be people who died as children, before they had the intelligence and sense to follow the correct religion. For these kinds of people, the Prophet PBUH said in an authentic hadith: “Allaah knows best what they would have done.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 1384. And since Allah is the most just (one of His names is Al-Muqsit, the just One), He would not wrong a people by unjustifiably placing them in hell.
    2. one can argue that there are non-muslims with good morals who do good things, so why don't they go to paradise? But consider, do they really have good morals when they do an injustice to the One Creator? The One Creator who created this universe, created them and gave them life, who placed on this earth many things (animals for food, materials for shelter) so they can live their lives, who created them in pairs as man and woman so they can find comfort in their spouse. Yet they deny Him, associated with Him a son (as the Christians do), or outright disobey Him even though they believe (as the Jews do).
    3. many people will say that they reject exploring Islam because they still want to follow their religion, or that they want to combine all religions and believe in everything (as Jordan Peterson recently expressed). The issue is that this is contradictory; all religions cannot be true as they have contradictory beliefs. God cannot be One, but also a trinity, but also multiple gods like in hinduism - these all directly contradict each other. 16:45 you say it's hard to be offensive when you're trying to say the truth. But consider, there must only be one truth, and you must find that truth by exploring, comparing, and challenging every religion until you find the right one. 18:00 you mentioned very importantly, why do you people believe in what they believe? Why do all the major religions believe in an eternal afterlife with heaven and hell? This is an important question to ask every religion you come across. Then they must present their evidences and based on that you make your decision on what the truth is.
19:50 you said that you like to think that God is better than us, that He doesn't succumb to jealousy or wrath. Allah says in chapter 35 verse 15: "O humanity! It is you who stand in need of Allah, but Allah ˹alone˺ is the Self-Sufficient, Praiseworthy.
" This shows that God doesn't *need* us to believe in Him - it's not like humans where He gets validated or feels satisfied when people are following him. However, there still has to be a punishment - otherwise who would listen? In islam, there has to be a love for paradise and a fear of hell, without one the other becomes overwhelming. Is there is only reward and no punishment, people will get complacent; if there is no reward and only punishment, what will motivate people to do good? You said "i'm just thinking, can we think?" - I agree we should think, and by thinking we will realise that this paradigm makes the most sense.
Once again, thank you guys for taking the time to engage in these topics. I would recommend - if you're planning on exploring this further - to watch videos about the miracles of the quran, which will give you more of an idea of the evidences that Islam presents. I also enourage you guys to speak to (and/or watch videos of) well-known muslim content creator - my personal recommendations are The Muslim Lantern and Mohammad Hijab.

In the video there are two brothers whom I struggle with their names because I’m not good with names.
One is wearing puma the other is wearing a silk shirt.
The puma wearing one has a nature called in arabic as razeen. Razeen in English would be mature, but also links to being wise and such.
So although he is not there when it comes to grasping things, not to mention that he has an atheist point of view. Yet he has a rational reasoning that makes you feel that he is not far from the mark.
It’s like if you close the eyes of a person and put a cow and a horse infront of him, and you ask him to place his hand on one of those two animals. And then you ask him which animals was it? And his answer being, it’s a cow, and you tell him no. And you know he is that close to getting it, what else would it be if it’s not the cow? It’s the second thing, it’s the horse it’s either this or that, not hard to deduce.
But then you could have a person who would say it’s a cow, and you would say no, and the next conclusion he would jump to is a dragon, a Chinese snake like dragon, and you would say no, and he would say well it’s a Scottish dinasour like fire breathing winged dragon.
You are going off the mark, way way far of the mark.
The brother in the silk shirt, that’s how he conjuresup ideas.
Where one is mature, the other is going for the fun element, the sarcastic, the comedic.
The problem is that the subject at hand is a subject that affects a person’s eternal salvation or eternal damnation. It’s an existential subject that affects one’s destiny, it doesn’t get more serious than that, it’s as serious as a heart attack. The holy book is the sacred word of God, or at least a sacred holy book to those who believe in it.
The mentality of irreverence, and in the case of some people who take actual action to vandalise places of worship, this is referred to as absurdism.
Absurdism is the mentality of slaughtering holy cows and laughing while doing it. Desecrating what is sacred.
What is sacred doesn’t have to be something religious, human blood and preserving it from being spilled in unnecessary murders, one’s family, cherished memories, nostalgic photos of the past. All of those things are meaningful things to people.
Treating them with irreverence is the mentality of absurdism.
Religious people revere things, in the video you see the person reciting and the people praying crying as they hear the words. They revere the scene of judgment day and the seriousness of it, they revere the ultimate loss of being given your record book by your left hand which means that you will be judged and sent to hell, they cry at the thought of losing that kind of an ugly eternal loss.
Intelligent students at school used to cry for getting low marks at their tests and exams. People who give meanings to things either gain true happiness or true sadness from it,
An intelligent student gives a true meaning to studying, and to the test and to the score.
A care free student wouldn’t care less about the score, win or lose its just a number to them.
The guy in a silk shirt has an absurdist mentality, there are millions of reasons to it, among them is his mention of anxieties, and what seems like a short attention span and a reactionary impulsive attitude that allways takes you back to thinking inside the box and comfort zone while you think it’s you who is thinking outside the box. Allways going back to the familiarity of being care free, the familiarity of running on neutral and just passively sliding towards the path of least resistance down hill, as buzz light year calls it , falling in style.
I think people noticed that in him, so they recommended this video, the video was supposed to be an emotional video to soften his heart. But his problem is bigger than a hard heart.
It’s summed in one word (Anxiety).
I had a relative who had a touch of that stuff, watching tv with them was a nightmare, they would flip through the channels every 7 seconds. They are looking for their own satisfaction and comfort, and in the process they are drying people mad. You would be feeling like you want to climb the walls with how they keep changing the channels. Tack, tack tack tack. Settle on something.
The problem with silk shirt is that not only that he is standing on those unstable grounds. Infact he is ignorant enough to not be aware of his ignorance, enough to see him self as the enlightened one, enough to want to pull people to the same about to sink floating ice sheet.
So he looks at the theme of the video, and if it’s going to influence people towards faith, he interjects, and as the video keeps moving, you see him painting him self into a corner.
So regarding the crying guy, his gambit was to say well we have priests who speak in tongues in the church and others who cast out demons and drink snake poison, the fact is that they are all charlatans and it’s all a scam, there I don’t need to be sherlock to crack this case wide open.
And then as the video continues, you notice that no one is selling no snake oil, it’s just people being humble in the presence of God as they are praying, and people fearing God as the warning words of God are being recited to them. It’s not some naked guy thinking if he concentrates enough he will become invisible or lay an egg as he attempts to say that people whip themselves into a hysteria for no logical reason. No this is Islam, and is Islam you have hope and fear, hope for God’s mercy and fear of God’s wrath. And God’s wrath is something everyone should fear, today you have people butchering tens of thousands of innocent civilians, it would do them good to know that they don’t have impunity. If Hitler feared God he wouldn’t have killed as many as he did.
The prophet of Islam and all his companions were constantly being brought to tears by the words of God and the thought about the unseen and the after life.
That is what faith is about, faith is about believing that something is true. The after life is something Muslims beleive to be true. So these dangers and pitfalls bring Muslims to tears.
You would have tears if you were in a cell waiting for the mayor’s mercy to pardon you at the last minute or get executed for being condemned. The seriousness of the situation would invoke a serious response from you.
The sad part is that taking matters seriously after the damage is done is obsolete. You are better off to take matters seriously long before any damage takes place, thus avoiding prosecution, condemnation and execution. Prevention is better than cure.
Taking the judgment of the after life seriously now makes you avoid metric tons of sins, you become a better person, and the world becomes a better place because of people like you.
Those people were not crying because of loved ones in hell or loved ones who are sinners.
    They were crying for themselves.
Yes they are bearded, praying in a house of worship, but no one knows for sure that they have survived hell for merely just going to pray.
Life in this world is a test, and you don’t pass that test by being a one tune band, you need to be wholistic and cover all your vulnerabilities.
You could be a great person, and your children are not only allover the place performing every unmentionable, infact you could be the one enabling them to do that with big pocket money that funds their activities. So going to mosk is cute, but it doesn’t mean you are a good person.
You could perform a criminal negligence that would have a butterfly effect chain reaction bringing a humongous catastrophe, like the leaked laboratory viruses that lead to a global pandemic and millions of people dying. A simple mistake could have echoing ripple effects that span the globe and for decades or centuries.
For that reason those people were crying about finding themselves failing at judgment day, they don’t want to fail the test, they want to pass and go to heaven.
It’s called being conscientious, absurdism is the opposite of that, absurdism is related to being an anarchist, having a total irreverence to everything, a trouble makers, a mischievous loki.
In the Simpsons Lisa Simpsons is the conscientious one, Bart Simpsons is the absurdist one.
Religion teaches you to be conscientious. In the verse you notice that the guy in hell was being blamed for not feeding the poor.
How many times in modern day life we see people treating the poor and the needy as if they are subhumans? It’s like they have some cute wise philosophies in their heads, like they figured it all out. Little do they know, they are the ignorant ones with blind hearts.
They wouldn’t give money to the bigger, because according to them he is going to spend it on drugs. As if pablo escoba is just waiting around the corner to give them some cocain.
And the guy didn’t eat for several days, and his life is a hell on earth, yet some one thinks he is a bum and that he should earn what he gets same way every other person does.
Reality is that other people are blessed, and the fortunate ones should care for the less fortunate ones.
NOTE: by now you know how I speak, so I’m sure I didn’t offend anyone, but if I did, then my apologies are in order.
The silk shirt one should know that some one out there wants him to soften his heart.

It is better to be cautious on matters of intelligence and approach it from a point of view where we ask the Almighty to continue to guide us on the right path as we say in Surah Fatiha in every rakaat of our prayer, the reason being that it may become something that will lead to arrogance and self praise if we dial in on it being something that comes from within.
Repetitive slogans thrown out by Muslims without explaining them are certainly a lazy effort to convey a message but in defence of those Muslims id say the sender assumes that the receiver understands his message.
In response to your asking that is what you talked about about guidance, i would say that it could be taken that way. It’s more educating than guiding but you can’t say the two of them aren’t linked together. Educating someone can include guiding them and vice versa.
I hope you understood my message more clearer now and do respond on anything you want me to address further.

People say may god guide you out of virtue signaling. On the other hand the guidance you are talking about is similar to holding someone’s hand or teaching them how to ride a bicycle. Or swim.

First, i like how genuine were your reactions
Second, I feel like you are projecting your experience with Christianity on Islam, i think there is a big différence between them in the subject of the nature and the attributes of God
Third, if there is a Creator, i don't think it is up to us (the creation) to define His attributes and His Acts, it is up to only Him to decide all this whatever we like it or not...And the only way to know our Creator and what he asking us to do and what may happen after we die.. is through revelations and scriptures ..the following question will come up... "how we can tell if the scriptures are telling the Truth or not?"..this is.. my friends is every Human Being homework to look and do his research and find their own answer :) (if he really care about what will happens after he die)
Fourth, You tried to explain their fear and comparing it to the kids fear of ghost, making us to think that is not a real fear (just because we don't see God)..i am sorry to say this but it is a lazy comparaison, we are talking here about the Creator of all our Existence ..do you really think it is silly to fear this Creator?!
Also just to clarify, the Relationship with God in Islam is not only about fear it is about the duality of hope and fear, and this what makes balance (hope makes you do good thing and fear makes you avoid doing evil things)
Last Point, about why they are crying, i think it is for 2 reasons in my opinion: 1. the Quran has this mysterious power to touch your soul and heart..2. they are fearing the punishment of the Lord of our Exitance on the judgement day because they really believe that this day will come and they will be judged by their Creator...so when you imagine the Intensity of that Day and living that...Ohh yeah the fear will really become more that REAL🥺.
Sorry about my bad english by the way 😅and sorry if i made some mistakes about my understanding of Islam because i am not a scholar

same way for some people who really tasted the beauty of Qura'an and fear of Allah, so when they hear it, they can't help it not to cry,
it has nothing with trying so hard to fake it to prove anything to anyone

one of the prophets saying "O people, your Lord is one and your father Adam is one. There is no virtue of an Arab over a foreigner, nor a foreigner over an Arab, and neither white over black nor black over white, except by God-fearing." it points to the importance of letting go of racism, but most importantly it highlights that everything will be judged according to your fearing of God.
10:50 the mesmerizing thing about Quran is that it hits you different at different times, you know something might have happened to you on a specific day and you read a verse that you have read 1000 times before, but today there's a new meaning manifesting as if you are reading it for the 1st time.
17:40 what affects most believers isn't the imagery although the wording really gets to you but it's actually about being forsaken by Allah. also, hell isn't eternal for everyone in fact many people will enter hell to get purified from their sins if they fail judgement day, and they will enter it afterwards, of course there are people who will enter and never come out.
I am seeing a lot of Christian residue in your own thinking that doesn't apply to Islam whatsoever, if you're doing these reactions for the views that's fine, but if you really want to learn Islam you need to come with an empty bucket. 😉
they are sad because they are sinners and are afraid they will not be accepted, there's a famous Hadith that the prophet peace be upon him told us about a man who spent his entire life worshiping Allah, on the day of judgement the Lord told him these are your good deeds do you wish to enter with them or through my mercy, the man said oh Allah I've been worshiping you all my life, I want to enter through my deeds, so Allah said to the angels bring the blessing of his sight and put it on the scales, so the blessings of his eyesight outweighed all his good deeds, Allah said throw him in the hell fire, the man cried oh Allah I want to enter through your mercy and so he entered heaven, the prophet peace be upon him continues saying all of the sons of Adam will only enter through the mercy of Allah, his wife asked him even you o prophet, he said even me.
another Hadith states, that every son of man is a sinner, and the best of sinners are those who are in constant repentance.
to be completely honest the state of mind you are in will not do you any good if you are authentic in your truth-seeking, I can see that you think you are better than these people, that you are more enlightened but in reality, you couldn't be further from the truth, this is only your ego and devil whispers. but Allah knows best, may Allah open your hearts and cleans it from arrogance and guide you to his straight path.

The meaning in Quran in any verse has such depth in meaning, such depth that the meaning is so deep it touches your heart or depths of your soul.
You know like when some one says something with such truth and depth that the other person feel its truth deep inside. Well that is a description of the meaning of the Quran then on top of that this meaning is conveyed in beautiful rhythm and Rhyming but yet its neither a song or poem. There is no book anything like it.
It has such depth that even a non arab speaker or non muslim just listening to its elequence and beauty is some how touched or moved by the words.

It makes it easier to get the full meaning in translation and when the person recites and they start to react to the message - it is a complete mind and heart experience. That's what produces the strong emotions. Because it starts to become a full picture and sound.

Gaza Now correspondent explains the dire situation in Gaza under the title "A Very Painful Situation"..
"On Salah al-Din Road, the road connecting the north and south, Israeli tanks and electronic gates are present. Anyone with a beard is threatened with death by Israeli forces before reaching the gate. Any woman refusing to remove her veil is threatened with death by Israeli forces. People are forced to strip completely. Fifty meters north of Wadi Gaza Bridge, there are dozens of scattered bodies on the right and left.
The Gaza Now correspondent continues: "If something falls to the ground and you try to pick it up, it means you have sentenced yourself to death; Israeli snipers will kill you immediately. Not only that, in the beginning, it was allowed for a person to carry a bag to continue his journey from the north to the south, but now carrying a bag is not allowed. People are arriving in the center and south of Gaza empty-handed, with no food, no drink, and nothing. The conditions are extremely, extremely difficult. Bombing is everywhere. As for the areas in the north, east, and west of Gaza City, residents are trying to prove their existence and refuse to evacuate from the north to the south. Some have turned to UNRWA schools for Palestinian refugees, which are considered a safe refuge for residents according to international law. However, none of this protects anyone from the occupation's terrorism, as it has targeted schools, mosques, hospitals, churches, and everything. There is no longer a safe place in Gaza. The Gaza Now correspondent states that residents from the areas of Al-Zahra city, central Gaza, to the north of Gaza have not received any aid for 43 days. The majority of people cannot find a livelihood or a loaf of bread, nor can they have a sip of water. They are completely cut off from the world, isolated without electricity, internet, or communications. Life here is very painful. Perhaps the world continues with its statements, but now it must know that we are facing a massacre and genocide in front of everyone's eyes and ears. 🇵🇸"

So, essentially, if someone has been on the wrong path and it’s been a while since they have prayed, praying in the masjid can be very emotional due to your gratefulness to God for finally being on the right path again. Hi non Arab Muslim here, I probably won’t have such an emotional reaction if I was standing behind the imam simply because I don’t speak Arabic, but if I could feel the emotions in his voice and if I was familiar with the verses and knew the meaning of them and when I heard them I might have a stronger reaction. Also react to Syrah Maryam in the Quran. Thanks

When you finally acknowledged that there is only one true God and you believe all that He says in the Holy Quran is true, you will cry rivers of tears for the horror of the Day of Judgment. You will tremble knowing that on that day all the good and the bad that you do will be revealed to you and everyone.

The man in white who was weeping i think when he heard that particular passage in the Quran and what could happen to them which let him be in that state it drills into my heart like an arrow every time I recite some passage's.. and especially for those who understand the whole Quran and it's meanings and mastered. Therefore, most people who do not speak Arabic do not have the same effects.. and some have soft hearts & others not..!! I have that same reaction some times when i stand before Almighty worshiping Him, He's Words torches my hearth while i live allone.. and no it's not fake nor have i any attention or reason to fake it . Allah told us as long as you return to me and asking for forgiveness in sincerity i will always forgive even if you killed hundreds of life but you are sincere to not do it again, but if you return to the same thing again and again and you never regretting it and you die you would be accountable..! So stay open minded and don't commit self-destruction to yourself you gonna find our Creator All Forgiving. That's the beauty of our Creator, He always forgives constantly as he's knows us better than we know ourselves.

Islam is the only religion that doesn’t damn every non believer into hell. As stated in the books of Hadith, people need to be given a clear message to be held accountable. Once the message is given a few time, it then becomes a responsibility for that person to accept the truth. When the verse arises that “ they didn’t believe in Allah” it’s not talking about the people that never received a clear message, rather it’s talking about the people that know Allah exists but fail to act with a conscience and commit atrocities knowingly. Please study this a bit further.

10:23 when your talking about the reaction you have to read the verse and understand what it is saying, you will have to read your book which includes everything you have done on earth. So people are blessed to understand the language of the Quran I can read it but don’t know the meaning like I do some words but not all but that guy probably understands what’s being said… no one is perfect he probably committed a sin and is worried about that and crying for mercy

6:36 I appreciate how you guys are willing to listen to the Quran and are so engaged that you want to discuss it with each other, but we’d appreciate it if you listened without pausing as the reciter is reciting; I’d recommend only pausing when he pauses and not cutting him off mid recitation as it’s looked down on to cut off someone reciting other than correcting them for a mistake they did while reciting.
