My friend really needs all our help. I am so thankful at the outpouring of support for him. I totally appreciate everyone here. It really means a lot.
You sir are “brilliant”thank you
love your video's and your personality. there is a lot of good things to emulate. this world is tough but, your a bright shining light. keep guiding the way friend!
Best teacher on CZcams. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again.
Same
Yes
Agreed. Such great analogies and explanations in simple, understandable examples.
Seriously. Amazing stuff.
Say it again.
I love this guy. His approach to teaching and his humanity is real.
Imagine a robot is teaching this 😳.. no thanks
What people often call 'genius' is exactly this ... taking something so simple and making it so cool. Thanks, Stich, for another great and inspiring leeson!
I say this in pure earnest, you might just be one of the greatest guitar teachers I've ever come across. Your teaching style is insanely intuitive, your attitude is infectious, and your production quality is ace. I hope you continue to grow and grow!
Except for the beard, that's fully grown!😅
Over the years I’ve watched guitar instructors on CZcams but none have taken it to that level of easy understanding as you. Hands down you are the best “teacher” on CZcams. Your the only one I watch now. Thank you very much.
You, Sir, are a GENIUS! What is so wonderful about this song, is that it offers TIME….time to explore between versus…. Explore between WORDS actually. This song and the bpm are an ad-lib guitarist DREAM. When you have such a beautiful melody, chord structure-SIMPLE CHORD STRUCTURE, it allows us guitar players ample time to create beautiful leads, fillers, etc! But Y-O-U my friend are a MASTER of conveying the information. The information that we ALL have in our heads and transferring what is in our head to OUR hand, ultimately, to the fretboard! Thank you-Thank you-Thank you!!
After years of listening to the dead and having a deep appreciation for Jerry’s improv, it was my brother who pointed out that Garcia is an absolute master of this technique as a one key foundation to his soloing!!!
Same thought, instantly. ✌🏻🌹💀
Even by Stich standards, this is an astoundingly good lesson. The only rational explanation for this is that Stich has made a deal with the devil at a crossroads at midnight.
As an intermediate harmonica player, I so greatly value your videos that focus on phrasing. Thank you.
Best explanation of melodic solo technique I’ve ever heard. Great job.
If I can add also, sometimes leaving space (not playing) is just as important as playing.
Just like in life we have positive and negative space (my guitar is positive and the space around it is negative) music only exist as sounds and space between the sounds.
Thank you so much for this video Stitch. As I want to write solo's for my own songs I've watched many tutorials about melody writing but yours is the first one to give me a lightbulb moment. Thanks again.
I've been watching youtube guitar lesson videos for YEARS. This is hands down one of the best lessons I've ever seen!!!!! BRAVO! Stitch!!! I'm subscribed for life!
man...the way you broke this down is gold. Much appreciated!
I watch a ton of CZcams guitar classes from some very excellent instructors but, my man, you are the best! You not only explain what you are doing better than anyone else, you also cover areas of playing that no one else does. You have a gift, thanks for sharing it with us all.
You've helped me with so much! No one else on CZcams comes close to your style of teaching and simplifying the hard stuff. Hands down the best free guitar lessons
This ....THIS ....is exactly what I've been struggling with.
Cheers dude.
What a great lesson Stich. Very Jerry. He was such a melodic guitar player. Thank you for letting us on the train!
At last a teacher that does not leave me dazed and confused. Love his calm friendly approach and great way at looking at things.
What a great lesson. So helpful Master stitch. Working with an original band for the first time developing songs as we go has been a learning fiasco for me. This puts a LOT into perspective. Thank you again good sir.
Fantastic lesson! Definitely going to practice using melody as a foundation or “train” for soloing to a tune. Thanks Ian!!!
Great! Love the idea of the vocal melody train and the improv train - awesome metaphor and really an ah-hah moment! Thanks!
I gotta tell you, I tried your method for coming up with a good solo and it worked like a dream. I e been trying to come up with a solo for Born under a bad sign for months and did the thing where you play the vocal melody and it worked beautifully. The the lines over the 1 and the 4 have a B.B. King vibe and the lines over the resolve sound like a Santana thing. Got in one night. Also good for getting more familiar with the major pentatonic. Thanks for the best lesson ever.
What a great lesson. Thank you for posting this 👍🏻
I watch a few different guitar lesson channels, and every now and then, I come across the absolute nuggets like this. This is going to be very helpful. Can't wait to put it in to practice. Thank you sir.
Great explanation. Your presentation is well paced and builds nicely. Explaining the improvisational concepts in layers - starting with the fundamentals. Your demeanour is so calm and pleasing. Thank you.
Love the train analogy for soloing. Your teaching is right on track.
Thanks Ian, this is probably your most useful lesson yet! Greetings from England 😀👍🏻
Great lesson Ian. I’ve never seen this thought before. Good stuff Thanks for sharing!
Really nice lesson. Always appreciate the melodic chase.
Finally i found you.. been watching 100s of videos.
Im an intermediate player i just learned pantatonic scale a months ago,but cannot solo as I imagined. You showed me the right path, melody and stuffs i so thankful sir. Thankyou so much
perfect lesson, you answer what i was looking for during a long time. Many thanks
You popped up on my CZcams feed yesterday and I've been watching and just having aha moment after aha moment. Thank you so much!
Great lesson! Thanks Stich
Best lesson I've ever seen! Makes perfect sense! Thank you!
Have loved your style, content and delivery and has really helped advance my playing through lockdowns and all. You are the only CZcams guitar genius who smiles (nearly) as much as Tim Pierce
I'll back that!🎸🤘🎸
I'm off and running! Thanks for sharing your knowledge and insight. This is a great lesson and has really spurred me on.
Hi Stich! I am a retired RN. Retired in 2019. I am also a veteran. I took up playing guitar when I retired. Thank you so much for this lesson. The video has shown me how to add melody to the songs I am learning. Knocking on heavens door is the first song I am learning to play. Bill
It’s all about good stuff, man. I always learn something from you. Thanks!
So simple, yet has been so elusive for me, this video has finally found what was there all along,
someone to explain is simple terms what to look for, bravo Sir, now I just need to practice my discovery.
One of the best impro lessons I've seen! Thanks Stich!
Waw a lesson that makes sense and easy fo follow was looking for a long time for a lesson like yours my friend thank you.
You are so smoooth Stich. A real joy to follow. Saving this one in my tool box 😊😊😊
This is the video that I was looking for since a long time. It really changed my mindset to guitar soloing. And this was question that I have asked people about for many times and got no answer. Thank you so much. For me, you are a legend, a hero, a genius.❤❤❤❤❤❤
Excellent tutorial on soloing; makes so much sense.
Thanks so much. That one lesson is something I've tried to figure out for quite a long time. I will apply that to my own steps. But you got me going.
Wow , what a brilliant lesson, ! Thanks so much for sharing
Thank for sharing this beautiful idea ❤️
Such a good dude and great teacher. Stay humble.
Loved to re visit your vids, when I need to. You're amazing
Excellent! I’m just now diving into these 🤘
I first came across stitch trying to figure out the best way to play Bertha solo, and that was an excellent video. And as you too, is they start showing you more of the channels that you watch... I subscribe to a dozen guitar channels, some do Some things better than others, but with all sincerity, the vibe and demeanor that you give off and the pace is just I want to have you over for a jam session! I'm an intermediate guitarist of 66 years old and what I just arrive from this learning. The melody first probably had more of an impact than two dozen other videos that I've watched. Keep up the good work brother and enjoy your life, thanks very much!
You have a wonderful way of teaching. God bless your work!
This was excellent. I have new things to try. Thank you man.
Exactly what I needed ! Thank you so much !!!
You are an amazing teacher !! Mindblown
A really great video. I'd always wondered about the dynamic/contrast between the lead improv and the melody. This covers it so neatly.
The best tutorial ever, using my favorite song. Thank you!
Very well explained and shown. Great lesson in simplicity and melody. Well done
This video like many Stitch videos are like small gold nuggets on a black sand beach. Easy to see and so worthwhile to pick up. Thank you.
Been away for a time, come back and some things haven't changed.
STILL one of (if not THE) best guitar teaching person on CZcams.
Love that guitar sound.
Thank you Sir!
Brilliant ,, just plain brilliant! ...i just tried it out and WOW.....i had "a moment" and everything fell into place... now i need to try it out on the songs that I take lead ... Thank you!
Your last run from 10:36 to the end of the piece (with the triple notes) was just beautiful and from the heart.
one of the best tutorial ever!!! thank you StichMethod Guitar..
Wow! Very neat technique! I appreciate the detailed explanation, definitely going to give this a try. Thanks!
A good, practical lesson well explained. Thanks.
Omg what a great method and thought process. Incredible
Excellent lesson!! Thanks for sharing this with us all!!!
real person here and a great teacher..Thank you for the no nonsense real character..much appreciated...
Simply brilliant. Thank you for that pro insight.
Interesting and educational discussion/explanation. I had not looked at it like that. Nicely done.
Ian, this is my favorite lesson yet! thanks so much! I would love for you to do an entire series of this type of lesson....maybe songs of your choice, but in different keys and different tempos. Just something to consider! I love the related concept of two trains traveling side by side...melody/improvise. That clicked with me! thanks again!
Great lesson, a real eye opener! Thank you!
Stitch… This is such a Beautiful Lesson,
THANK YOU! I have really been focusing on Theory and Modes ( and that is great), but to get back to a lesson that touches my Heart and Soul… I NEEDED THAT! 🎸🎶❤️
Simply the best. Period. Thank you again Stich!
You convinced me, I subscribed.
This is a really really really good lesson.
Absolutely brilliant, absolutely beautiful. Thank you 👍
This is amazing. Well done, sir!
Very informative WOW, so much to learn and practice thanks I
Thank you for sharing... easy to understand 🙏🙏🙏
it took me a long time to get back on the train :) another amazing well thought out video Ian! thank you so much for this. My guitar playing has improved drastically ever since i started watching. and thank you for sharing the fundraiser for your neighbor, just donated.
Bringing in some TRIAD chord tones can really bring this up to another level, especially if you substitute it for the root note at the end of a phrase!
Just the fact you picked my all time fave song. I absolutely love this. And it’s bumped up my bass lines too
Hello Stich, Thanks for this great lesson ! !
I can't count the times that I've done this live. in fact that's exactly how I learned to play guitar solo's. Great lesson..I think this video should help all your beginners..Keep rocking those lessons. also an amazing guitar. very classic looking finish..Peace..
As a train conductor I enjoy the analogy to trains. 😁
Thanks! Your work means so much to me. Being able to unlock the puzzles and theoretical underpinnings of the songs that made me is an incredible gift. I appreciate everything that you do.
Dude, that was so nice of you! I am so glad you enjoy the channel. I love it when it connects with someone.
Outstanding instructional buy a truly gifted teacher I can't thank you enough for taking the time to share your gift with us all thank you John Westchester Illinois
Thank you so much for this tutorial, Absolutely brilliant.
Great approach to learning melodic solos on guitar. Thanks bro
This was very helpful for me. Thanks!
Wow , this is one of the best tips ever, thank you.
What a wonderful lesson! 👍
Just amazing and made it so easy. Thanks
Perfect explanations with a huge amount of information in a short space of time
Emotional and inspirational
Thank you
Such a great video and a great approach for looking at soloing. Thank you, was a bit of an eye opener for what I should be focusing on more.
great lesson, love the train analogy!
I stumbled onto your channel, I like yer teaching style and you make it do able. Thanx
Great video, getting a Stich notification is the best!
Excellent idea/method for solo playing. Straightforward, well explained. I’m a longtime acoustic finger style player (not much focus on soloing!) who’s now decided to pick up an electric. Great starting point for what I want to start doing!
