Going back to the early 1900's this area was used for mining phosphate and limestone. Nature has reclaimed the mining and is now part of the state forest and is a nice place to hike and take in some history. Website: www.freshfromf... www.floridatra...

You're exposing many of Florida's long forgotten habitat sites. It is incredible how nature transforms these old ruins into an abundance of flora and fuana sanctuaries. Many old mines in central Florida have become gardens of inate beauty and exotic expanse. Your exploration and recording of these amazing treasures are very important and valuable. Many natural areas, even though once had industry and habitation, soon recover as plant communities dominate rather quickly. Love your videos! Keep them coming. They are true Florida treasure!❤

We have mining pits in Nevada. Mostly for Gold mining. Now the state requires that the modern mines do reclamation on the areas that are abandoned by them. But there are many 1800s open pits that were left. Nature in the desert doesnt reclaim and turn them into beautiful forests. Our early pits are just left as open scars.

you really need to come to Jacksonville Florida right off Roosevelt boulevard across from the naval Air station Jacksonville . it is now a park but it is a ghost town if you look around back there in the park you will see the remnants of it . just research the town of yukon in Duval county FL .

Very awesome! Did you find any old photos of this mining operation to see what kind of structures were built on those foundations?

Another great video, keep up the good work!
Just up the road from there, on trail 10, before it turns to a paved road, on the side of the road is an old cemetery related to that particular mine and its workers/owners.

at 9:38, it looks like the concrete slab has an old well casing. That very possibly was the pump house. I made a comment on your other vid. I ride in Croom bike park and last week I found a concrete slab with a 4" well casing sticking up, so Ill bet that was a pump station/house also.

How about a video about the gear you wear? Saw some compression socks on one of your videos? Not sure.
