    best video on mr2. jumpin gthe starter relay worked for me after the car sat 23 years and the clutch pedal was stuck in up positiona nd i stomped it down and is now stuck in down position. i think the issue is the clutch switch not wiring or relay but at least i know the starter works and the motor is not siezed. THANK YOU

      Clutch pedal not coming back up means you need to fill and bleed the clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder. Difficult to do on this car, especially if it has drained out completely.

      @@Merryfrankster_ do you think the master cylinder went bad after 23 years and when i forced it down i broke it?

      @@warrenpeas there is definitely a possibility that you broke the inside seals on the master cylinder.

      @@Merryfrankster_ is there a way I can trigger the switch by hand on the clutch pedal to rule out that as what's causing no crank?

    • @Merryfrankster_
      @Merryfrankster_  Před 11 měsíci

      @@warrenpeas first let me say that I am a big fan of whirled peas. To your question, there are a few of things you can check with the clutch pedal. First check that the little stopper that pushes the button on the switch has not fallen out from its location. Secondly you can unplug the switch from the harness, and check that the harness receives voltage on one terminal with ignition on. Then you can jumper the connector to close the circuit, in case the switch itself is defective. You can check the switch itself by verifying that the resistance between the two terminals goes to zero when you close the switch. Finally, the switch is inline on the ignition circuit going to the starter relay, so you can check for continuity in the harness between the switch connector and the relay connector.

    How do i connect a o2 sensor on 3sgte that was cut from harness? I want to wire it from ecu to o2 sensor wire

    • @Merryfrankster_
      @Merryfrankster_  Před 5 měsíci +1

      You can buy connectors (male and female) with crimp-on terminals from bmotorsports or efihardware or other supplier that sells automotive elecrtronics. Then you wire the female connector to your sensor and the male connector to the harness. It is best NOT to solder O2 sensor wires.

    Great video! I just went down to my garage to start my 91 NA and it is cranking but no start. Last night when I drove my car to the grocery store, my engine light came on but a minute later turned off. I came back, parked the car, but the next morning, it wouldn't start. When will you come out with the Crank, no start video?

      Soon, soon. I just started planning the shoot.

      Check the efi fuse. Try jumpering the B+ and Fp terminals in the diagnostic connector and start the car. The fuel pump runs Only if the engine is turning, it does not turn on to prime when you turn the key to the "run' position. Check the connection between the distributor and the igniter on the rear firewall. Pull one of the spark plugs wires, install a spare spark plug in the end, and check for spark. If nothing seems to help, do a compression test.

      You are correct, clutch switch can cause no crank, but are you sure that your car has a clutch switch? As far as I know, these are only on US cars.

    My car recently started doing no crank and no start could it be the starter relay because I know the starter is good is new

    • @Merryfrankster_
      @Merryfrankster_  Před 27 dny

      No crank could be a number of things. Wiring/loose wires (battery and starter), ground (battery and transmission), connecting wire from starter solenoid to starter relay, starter relay, ignition switch, connection from ignition switch to starter relay, clutch switch. So yes it could be the starter relay, or any of the above.

      I keep trying to make MR2 content but it gets nearly zero love. Very little views and very little revenue. Very discouraging. Based on the response to this video so far, which si going straight into the dustbin, I am probably not going to bother with the follow-up "crank but no-start" which would be really interesting if I did, but not enough people interested.

    • @Merryfrankster_
      @Merryfrankster_  Před 24 dny

      @@brayanramos644 The relay has four terminals. Two of the terminals should show very low ohms - these are the terminals for the inductive trigger circuit. When you put 12v across these two terminals, it triggers the relay, i.e. closes the circuit on the power circuit. The two terminals for the power circuit should read either open circuit (high ohm) or closed (low ohm) when you power the trigger circuit. You are not telling me which of the two terminals you have tested, and in what state, so I have no idea. I would not expect to see 57 ohm on either circuit - this is close to an open circuit reading, but not quite.
