what happened with chef was when he had a stoke, the church of Scientology sent a letter on his behalf (without Isaac knowing) saying that he was leaving the show because of the Scientology episode…so they didn’t really push him away and he didn’t leave….and it wasn’t until after they did the return of chef episode that issacs son came out and said that his dad didn’t actually send the letter
(edit....Issac told Trey and Matt to pull the episode but they said they dont do that so he quit the show, but he left on good terms)
True; Isaac Hayes usually did his recordings at his own home rather than in the studio booth as the other voice actors did, so it wasn't unusual for them to not have seen him contact them.
Just makes everything they say about Scientology just more accurate. They control their people in the long run.

I would totally support you as a South Park character. You could play his long-lost twin chef brother who was also nicknamed Chef. Every male in my family is called Ozzy so it's not uncommon for multiple members being called the same name.

Actually, what happened was that it was members of the church of Scientology in Isaac Hayes's entourage who took advantage of Hayes having a stroke to issue a statement that Hayes was leaving South Park.
Funny enough, Cartman also pointed to the swastika and Germany as an example.

I mean, that's the exact reason taking the statues down was one of the greatest tragedies of American history. People didn't put those statues up because the subjects were slave owners. If that was the sole reason there would've been a lot more statues all over the place. Those statues were there because of something they accomplished that people felt was worth remembering. But you don't even know what they got a statue for, because all you've been told is that they were slave owners.
Don't mistake me, obviously slavery was and is wrong and I'm not defending it. But having the statue up doesn't mean defending slavery. We can acknowledge that they were slave owners and that we don't approve of it while _also_ honoring them for the positive things they did. To do otherwise is to censor and rewrite history, which is one of the most horrific crimes you can commit, imo.

This episode and the scouts episode where Jimmy gets introduced bring both bring up both sides of the argument of freedom of speech/expression. On one hand you hate people who are intolerant and say bad things or exclude others from doing things together. On the other hand, if you're allowed to say or do what you want, why shouldn't they?

Legally, in USA, it doesn’t matter what you're saying as long as you aren't threatening someone, calling for illegal activities, or slandering someone. You have the legal right to protest and say whatever pleases you. The moment you remove someone's right to speak, that endangers your own right to speak. Offense is subjective. If you open the gates to banning hateful speech, then you risk someone banning you because you offended whoever is in power.

You can acknowledge and learn about your country's history and former ideologies without _embracing them._ The flag and whatever symbols representing an ideology or belief system that we don't believe in any more will still be visible in textbooks, museums, and history books...-unless Florida's governor doesn't want you to see them- but flying a flag means you embrace or support what's on it, and if you want people to think that about you personally, hey, freedom of speech...I guess, lol. But if you care about history and you care about people (especially people that aren't white)...maybe it's best those flags and symbols remain in a museum and textbook and not proudly waving in front of American government institutions.

Because that was temporary and the state was run by evil people. Thankfully, it’s not run that way anymore. Why not have congress remove confederate statues in statutory hall? All of them should be removed. Andrew Jackson should also be removed for ethnic cleansing of indigenous people.

South Park predicted the debate surrounding the Confederate flag in South Carolina which went on in 2000 when this episode aired and 15 years later, the flag was taken down after the Charleston church shootings.
Well the reason why you have the first amendment is not to discuss the weather but to be able to discuss controversial ideas without the fear of government censorship. I may disagree with someone fundamentally but I do believe that all people have rights.

Isaac Hayes left the show because he was a hypocrite. He was ok when they made fun of everyone and anything else - every other religion, etc., but then he says it's not ok to make fun of or even tell the truth about Scientology! Nobody made him leave, he made a choice. It is nobody's fault that he let some ridiculous religious people brainwash him. He did it all by himself. I applaud South Park for not giving in to his hypocritical ultimatum.
My take, as one wholived in both the North and the South. The flag didn't represent slavery to everyone. It repesented southern culuture that had advanced PAST slavery and have passed through the civil rights times and represented what the south became not what it used to be. I don't think most would agree with that but it's a fair point. Speech is never 100% free. HoweverI fully support the first ammendment, which keeps the governement out of the issue as I am against government thought control. I support people having the right to be a racist ahole or non racist ahole. That doesn't mean I think there shouldn't be consequences. If you are going to say racist things, it's right to call that person out and expose them. That is the way it is best handled. There isn't enough room to put everyone and anyone that ever does anything "racist" which is more and more being redefined to include things that never used to be considered racist before, by people who are just throwing the racist word around because they don't like what someone said or did. While the breaks should be pumped on that behavior, real actual racists should face the cancel culture they deserve, not just anyone loosely accused of being racist for dumb reasons.
