Hey Steve. I am sooo happy that you finally showed yourself.
For me you are the true King of our Rytms. You are the one and only. If @WeAreElektron is bringing out the MK3 and don’t send it for free to you before the release, i loose myself. I dont even get why they didnt send you the DT 2.
So thank you so much for everything our excellence.
Thank you for all your projects. Without them, my Rytm would not be the same for me. I learned so much from them.
Greats from Berlin, Stefan
Hey Stefan, that’s very kind of you.
I’ve been pretty hesitant showing my face but very happy i have done finally. My name is actually Martin, Steve Albini is a producer i mentioned in the video, we both wear glasses though 🤓
Super happy to hear the projects are helping you out on the Rytm, that’s super satisfying to hear. After people spend £2k on the Rytm, the least i can do is share some ideas with people so they don’t get stuck/frustrated like i did. Lots more to come.
The DT2 does look pretty awesome i gotta say. A mate of mine tours a lot with his DT1 and he does some pretty nice stuff with it, and i love the smaller form factor, so have often been tempted. The new updates on the DT2 seem pretty exciting, super curious. I wonder of we will even get a Rytm 3? It better have an eq and sample cropping and more extreme pitching. Also better punch in the sound like the old Akai’s would be awesome too.
Thanks again. Need to visit Berlin again one day. Nice place. Cheers
Enjoyed revisiting this with you. Really struggling with losing Steve Albini, such a stong influence on me. I think 'Vitties' is short for 'Victuals' - food and drink - pretty old school
Glad it was enjoyable. Ahh interesting, never heard that expression before. 👍
All through the 90's and 00's whenever Steve Albini came up, most people were like "fuck that guy", but I've seen just as much love and respect for him in death as say Bowie or Prince...online anyway. It's weird. You see in that letter how his personality was, abrasive as his music. A straight shooter though and obviously talented. I've definitely enjoyed much of his work over the years. Respect.
Haha yeah i can imagine. Id definitely heard of him but not followed his work. Still, i like a direct personality, even if i don’t agree.
When i heard of hid death i was aware of him but it wasn’t until i read this letter i felt some comparisons could be interesting to share. Funny read as well.
Thanks for sharing this!
No worries, glad it was useful.
@@ExpectResistance No really, you're stuff in general is really inspiring. Thanks for being you. :)
Really appreciate that.
Being yourself is the best we can do, even if sometimes it’s the hardest. 🖤
Yes ✊
🤘
thanks , way back in Basing St , Muff Winwood , studio manager at the time , was offered points or cash to produce the relatively unknown Dire Straits , he chose cash
No probs. Thanks for watching.
Oops!! Yeah plenty of those stories out there i bet.
In fact I don’t know. I don’t know about albini , but, yes to the context and approach to mixing and your breakdown and the letter . Tops. He famously slated samplers but agree I think it’s not what that parts about.
Sheet 1 was made in a weekend??!
Yeah totally. I’m not all that familiar with Albini, but it was definitely an interesting read. For sure, nothing wrong with samplers that’s for sure.
Sheet One, in a weekend apparently. Crazy huh! But when you listen to it again after learning that, it’s all got a very familiar and similar sound, but yeah, pretty inspiring to learn i found.
@@ExpectResistance great to hear :) I’m not surprised to be honest and like you say when you hear the elements in play on it makes sense
Totally. Such a great album regardless.
What is going on with the fluffy/sibilant/poppy/windy vocal? pretty strange choice, (clearly its a choice, and not a mistake, since you look like a producer)
It could definitely be more poppy if I try harder I suppose.
Fixed. My setup isn't ideal but it's getting there.
@@ExpectResistance Ha!!
@@ExpectResistance Lovely stuff
Thx 💛
