Ernest is a cool criminal, taking him to Nigeria is like band aid on saw;Foday Sankoh was there, that did not stop him from committing the crimes against Sierra but God showed him he is in charge of his creation.

The sovereignty of Sierra Leone as a nation-state; its membership and relationships to international organizations such as ECOWAS is at a testing point. Firstly, International Organizations advocates for individual rights, whilst the overarching responsibilities of government's is state survival and the welfare of its citizens. What we are seeing here is an over-reach of ECOWAS trying to influence public perceptions and the internal political wrangling's of a nation-state. In truth, ECOWAS can take a multilateral legal action to a government but cannot force them to make favorable or unfavorable outcome of such requests. The prerogative of veto lies in the executive arm of that nation-state; to some it may sound convenient and satisfying for a regional body to step in as an intermediary to mitigate potential internal conflict with spillover effects. However, the conditions enclosed in the asylum request sounds little suspect in that it favors the accused and in essence exonerates him from alleged involvement in the coup and ACC charges. Let's assume EBK is innocent but without the confirmation of the courts will cast doubt on our statehood, mockery of our judiciary system and the laws of our land. To take an objective stance though, the burden of proof of EBK's involvement lies squarely on the government. To remain credible, the government should put out details of his involvement at every level and stage of the planning of the coup to the public. Without doing so will strengthen public perception that it is an attempt to liquidate the opposition. We are at a critical stage in our democracy, for us to mature as a nation-state we should put away our emotions and biases. In my view, I think the ECOWAS request is premature and they should allow our state to exercise it laws and the accused should be given fair trial in an open court for all to see. In the event he is culpable let him face the full force of the law, but if he's exonerated the government should restore all damages including his dignity and after five years Maada Bio will account for his stewardship of our nation-state.

The term asylum does not apply to EBK moving to Nigeria. EBK did not ask for asylum to be relocated to Nigeria it was ECOWAS executives that proposed the relocation to Nigeria

Would Sierra Leone continue to be subjected to the past unfortunate 11 year war? We are capable of being judged on the current situation without reference to that war. There are a lot of reasonable citizens not carrying a mind based on party colours.

This decision is contrary to the outcome of what they discussed last. In my opinion ECOWAS has just taken upon itself to rescue him because he has bribed them but I promise you that criminal will face the full force of the law. If you know the level of destruction that old sponsored for the past years and present you will feel sorry for us as Sierra Leoneans.

We the people of Sierra Leone will not be happy for ECOWAS to relocate our former President to Nigeria so pls let ECOWAS forget about that Former president has told them before this that Sierra Leone has it own constitution that he never allow them decision over the sacked of our former vice president, that's why we also don't going accept your request of his transfer

  • @kombangaujah7565
    @kombangaujah7565 Před 6 měsíci

The former president should stay here, he is not better than anyone else. Remember, he also turned and violated the Ecowas order during his time of office. That's the same man who sacked his vice president just for his own selfish interest. He deserved whatever is coming at him. This will also serve as warning to the present politicians.

  • @kitoman100

Is ECOWAS trying to encourage an unrest in Sierra Leone? A former president has been charged for treason and Sierra Leone has a competent judicial system to handle such trials, so far there has been no unrest, why is ECOWAS suggesting a relocation? This same former president rejected the verdict of ECOWAS when he illegally sacked his vice president, why is ECOWAS trying to incite an unrest in Sierra Leone on behalf of this same man?

What are you guys talking about. Do you realize that Sierra Leone’s war ended over 20 years ago and we are a relatively peaceful country and have had multiple successful elections and peaceful transfers of power since? Do you also realize that Sierra Leone is a sovereign country that is governed by a constitution? Our former president is accused of crimes and is still presumed innocent until proven otherwise in a court of law, according to our constitution. He will have his day in court and has resources to put up a vigorous defense. The disrespect of our nation by foreign platforms and institutions is alarming. Please double check your sources before putting out stories like this. The so-called ECOWAS letter is not worth the paper it was written on. If it want’s relevance, it should work on reversing actual member countries that are run by military juntas

  • @umarujah2398

You should have done better by bringing a reporter with knowledge of the country. This country has long put the eleven years' war on its back.
In fact, how would this reporter draw this weak conclusion about supposed love for the president? ECOWAS is lacking relevance in democratic good governance and justice discussion in the country.

  • @abdulconteh7307

What sense does that make to take the former president to another country??especially during ongoing investigation. The fact that he a former president does not made him be above the law;we Sierra Leoneans need to know the people that are all behind the evil incitement causing instability, again on November 26th;Foday Sankoh was in Nigeria whilst he sent orders to his followers to his group in Sierra Leone. If the former president is not involved is a different case, but he is under investigation about a failed coup,do not put the cart before the horse.

ECOWAS is wrong to interfere at this stage of a SIERRA LEONE sovereign legal process.
Nigeria MUST have mothing to do with the process because the memory of the last conflict 1997 to 2001 is still fresh.
Their contribution was negative in my opinion, sat back and watch our people killed.
    Thank you.
ECOWAS has been politicise and theirfore bias.
Sierra Leone is hmatured enough to dealnwith this matter.
    I trust Sierra Leoneans
