After all the horrors this movie showed me, the liquidation of the ghetto, the random violent outbursts of Göth, the mistreatment of the people in the camp, i thought it couldn't get worse. I was so wrong.
How does it? They’re digging up a mass grave to burn the bodies. How is that worse than watching soldiers throw grenades into a locked up church full of kids (Come and See) or a film of the Babi Yar massacre, which would show German soldiers shooting Jews into a ravine face to face.
This scene. This music. I remember that my heart stood still and I stared in disbelief at it. This atrociety was nothing more than madness. This scene and music made it clear that this was nothing but senseless madness.
This musical gem could not have made otherwise, his notes make us live this great human tragedy that shows how far he can get hate and intolerance. John Williams seems to have removed the pain and suffering of the Jewish people at the hands of the Nazi regime and make music, a symphony of death, pain and abandonment; that makes me shudder so, I can not hold back the tears. This is a musical tribute to the millions of Jews, Poles, Gypsies and Jehovah's Witnesses who faced the iron arm of Adolf Hitler and his allies, a reliable proof that during the history of mankind "Man has dominated man to detriment "(Ecclesiastes 8: 9)
Well thank god I wasn't the only one, lol. I felt kind of silly having thought about star wars a little when this came up, but now that I know it's from the same composer, it's no wonder.
I listened to this whole soundtrack while reading the graphic novel MAUS. for those of you who know of it, it's very fitting. I listened to this track when Vladek got to the fire pits and it gave me so much chills I had to pace around the room for a moment afterwards
So powerful...just close your eyes and imagine the "Passion of the Christ's" crucifixion scene! This was John William's last Academy Award winning work! (till today, I hope)
i thought i was the only one!. me to man, i also feel that this piece of John william can represent monents of the passion, i personally associate it with Jesus taking the cross out the pretorium, after all, his death and all tragedies on earth like the holocaust , are made by the wicknes in the heart of mankind
I am jewish and for me it is pure pain and sadness. Why? Why so many people hate us even today? Can't we have our own traditions and religion? Is our blood worse than nazis'? No. Our lives matter like each life around Earth! Never forget! Never again!!!
I can't speak for everyone except for me, but what I want to say is, I'm so sorry for the horror that our grandparent's and grand-grandparents have done to your people. What the fucking nazi's has done is unforgivable and I hope there suffer in the eternal darkness. I personally have nothing against your religion. The hate what you see isn't only against your religion. These days, hatred is everywhere. It has no reason anymore to hate someone or something. Sometimes I have the feeling that the most people want a war again. Why? Idk. I don't hate you or your religion. Stay safe and I hope you have a good day.

Opening is pretty much the same and general dynamics and this characteristic "turbulence and anxiety" of Mahler's movement also can be heard in this piece of movie soundtrack. Also ensemble remains similiar - violins and harp which is without doubt rather exceptional and rarely used instrument. Wonder if John Williams was truly inspired by this austrian composer.
This was by far one of the most horrifying things i have ever seen in a film: Realism into film.
Reality is always worse than fiction
watch Come and See
this scene wrecked me when i was 13.
It may happen again to us Christians. When the Antichrist rises
I got full-body goosebumps when the choir came in. Very haunting.
Same
Same
Same.
So did I, very powerful.
John Williams MAESTRO

Yes it can, search up Unit 731. You'll see how scary humans can be
Yep, and the wild part is that no one dies in this scene. It's just basically logistics and aftermath related to all the earlier horror.
Omg, my eyes opened when the red jacket girl got killed.

@@plutomerlin184 lol
This sounds pretty similar to the immolation theme from Star Wars: Revenge of The Sith.
John Williams is a legend,no matter what he does.
It would have fit well in the scene in 2001: A Space Odyssey where the astronaut has aged and goes through a re-birth into a cosmic child.
Say this out loud at 1:18... "WITH OUR LIVES, WE GIVE LIFE! WE GIVE LIFE!"
The choirs translation 😔
It's so hauntingly beautiful.
3:02 its tender and mellow tone of sorrow just grabs me every single time
I still say this scene in particular is the greatest in all of film, actually showing what happened. Humans can be absolutely evil to one another.
