One of, if not the, best video on Union Springs!
Thank you for the kind words!
I loved this video by far the best video on flag pole knob
Wow, thank you for the compliment! There's a lot of excellent videos of Flagpole Knob on here, so it's awesome that you feel mine is the best! 😁
Great video! Makes me want to head back out there!
Thanks! I'm glad you like it!
Really enjoyed your video. A great package: music, narration, different camera angles, scenery and drone footage. Love to try this trail one day.
Thank you for the kind words. It means a lot! Union Springs is a fun trail!
Really helpful video. Doesn't look like anything than high clearance 4L would be necessary (e.g., RAM 1500), but with a full size truck pinstripes are going to happen!
Thanks! It's not terribly difficult. There's some spots on the trail that it gets narrow, with a tree on each side. You might need a spotter there.
Great guide to the trail! Appreciate all the work that went into this as well as the explanations.
Thanks a lot! That's a really great compliment and I sincerely appreciate it!
Looks like a fun place to drive, I need to get out of the flat-lands!
Come on up and let's roll!
I was wondering if you'd ever get around to doing a video of Union Springs. Well done!
It was an unplanned run, after a bust in WV. I didn't quite get the footage I wanted, so let's call it "medium-well". :D
Awesome! Looking to do this route in a few weeks...Union Springs to Flagpole to Reddish. How long roughly did it take to complete this route? Any tips? Much appreciated!!
Thanks! It took me about 4 hours or so, but it takes me a bit longer than most because I'm shooting video. I'd guess maybe about 3ish hours to complete it, if you're not wasting time like I do. Union Springs isn't terribly difficult. Just take your time going over the rocky parts. Once you've cleared Union Springs, you're basically just on gravel roads for the rest of it.
@DefiantOffroad awesome really appreciate the info! Just subscribed can't wait to watch more of your videos. Very well put together, best one I've watched yet on these particular trails
Thanks for the kind words! If Davis, WV isn't too far out of the way for you, check out the Canaan Loop. It's a great trail (one of my favorites). Combined with Canyon Rim, the two make a great day trip.
beats the hell out of iowa level b roads !! im jealous
But you could be in Colorado in much less time than it would take me!
I'd like to take my rig up there. What is the alternate route to union springs?
It's a lot of fun! You should check it out. I'm not sure what you mean by 'alternate' route, but the trail begins at 38.46316, -79.05393 (Union Springs Rd), or if you want to come down the trail from Flagpole Knob, then it starts at 38.51198, -79.17536.
Beautiful views! Is camping allowed on Reddish Knob? If not, were there dispersed campsites nearby? I’m planning to go in October.
Reddish Knob is paved, so there's nowhere to camp on the actual summit. There's a ton of dispersed camping all along the trail though. Flagpole Knob has a prime spot at the summit, but you have to get there early to get it!
@@DefiantOffroad I’ve been to Flagpole knob from Switzer Lake but never went to Reddish knob. I’d like to try camping by Reddish Knob this time.
There is a great campsite right down from Reddish Knob. It's located at: 38.46265, -79.24425. Check it out!!
@@DefiantOffroad Sadly, I wouldn't say Flagpole Knob is the prime spot for camping anymore besides the view you get at night. Unfortunately, people have destroyed the area with liter and destroying the grassy knoll that overlooks the "valley". I've been camping there for 10+ years and it is a sad shell of what it used to be. There are some hidden away camping spots that, while not offering the same view, provide a little bit more seclusion and fantastic sight of the stars at night... I've been saying the park service needs to charge money to go up there to limit the neanderthals who go up to party and leave trash alllllll over the place
It's definitely gone downhill in terms of condition over the last 10 or so years, and that's truly too bad.
