    I had the exact same problem, and fixed it the exact same way as you but, in the process I found that a new spark arrestor is only about $9.00. I had already purchased a mini-torch and a refill canister of fuel @ $43.00 combined. If you already have a torch do it this way. If not, buy a new arrestor. Thanks for the video.

    Mine’s doing the same thing. This trimmer worked fine, then all of a sudden wouldn’t start. 😳
    I watched another video and changed the ignition coil after my inspection showed that both my spark plug and filters all looked fine. The spark arrestor had very little build up. I replaced the fuel.
    Well, it STILL won’t start. Now I’m going to change my carburetor...

    You should have gone to your Stihl dealer and got a Bosch WSR6F spark plug . That is what it comes with. Gap you set was correct, .020”. The spar arrestor screen only becomes blocked if you are runnng the wrong mixture ratio (50:1) with a good two cycle oil. Use Stihl Ultra with premium, non ethanol gas and do not let it idle for long periods of time. You probably should put a shot of multilube grease in the crankcase, at least once a year. Fuel filters are available from your local Stihl dealer. Use oem parts if practicable.

      He don't need or shoulda coulda probably any of that. The e3 spark plug is just fine. He don't need to purchase $45 bottles of fuel every time... plus or premium fuel with a good quality 2 cycle oil will be more than enough and won't hurt anything. Fuel filters from amazon does the same thing as the $35 bulk filters or $18 singles from the dealer. Stihl dealers are great but are overpriced for the same stuff you can get a quarter of the price. It's an old hedge trimmer that's been working just fine with normal fuel for many years using the same motor across other models not a brand new spaceship.

      @@iwannachopbladeslawncare I have a gallon of Moto Mix but most of the fuel I burn costs me about $6-$7 a gallon to make. $4 for the gas, $2 for the two cycle oil and $1 for the stabilizer. I used to be able to mix it up for $5 a gallon until two years ago. Bosch plugs cost about $4 a pop. They last a lot longer than NGK plugs and didn’t die if they get wet like some plugs. Most of my saws have the same plugs in them that I put in them when I bought or built them. I don’t generally replace plugs as a maintenance item, like some do. They have to be worn out before I replace them. As long as they fire, they stay in the equipment.

      @@angelisone Is there good compression when you pull start, or does it pull easily with little resistance back?
      Also, check for a spark? To do that take spark out, reattach to the rubber boot, then bridge the gap with a spanner, as in, one end of the spanner on a metal part of the plug and the other onto the metal of the engine. Now what you do is pull whilst also looking for a spark coming from the plug.

  • @Sam-bh5vm
    @Sam-bh5vm Před 11 měsíci +1

    You can hear it has no spark at the start, you can also feel it is too smooth of a pull.
