Enjoyed the interview! My major concern came about when Dr. Bennett made mention of the Diaspora Village for our long lost brothers and sisters. Talk of white privilege - Don't you think such a community is a direct reflection of segregation being imported back in Ghana?

As a matter of fact, I was born and grew up in Ghana, learned a bit about slavery, but as a kid , I thought it was just a mere story and there was no fact to it until I came to Canada and one day I went to U.S during Otumfuo’s visit in 1998. While there I met a young man during the ceremony and he said something that struck me and I can say I something struck me in all of a sudden I became engulfed with some emotions I have never experienced.

The awareness of slavery and what happened during those times will increase when Africans and Africans in the diaspora connect in Africa. The more we interact with one another on African soil the awareness will increase and a true bond will strengthen and we can all in one voice say never again.

Unfortunately in Nigeria are not taught about slavery, and it's because our education system was and still imbedded in colonialism. I got to know so much while studying and living in the UK.. Ever since i have been interested to know what happened. As Yoruba i got to know there were Yorubas in many places like Brazil,Bahamas, Trinidad and Tobago and South United as an adult of 30 years. Our education system needs overhauling. I live in the UK. The reality is Africans and Africa neeeds diasporas. Our Diasporas are highly talented, most educated on Earth. Africa cannot continued to export raw materials. Ghana is doing the right thing.

@ Kweku Eshun That is a great idea 💡. One company in the USA has access to lost documents concerning ancestry. African ancestry where most of us are receiving our DNA results informing us of the African country and tribe were from doesn’t assist with documents or connecting us with relatives. I learned from them my maternal ancestors are Bamileke of Cameroon. It would be a great service to connect us with information regarding the tribes, culture and customs were are from and possibly connecting that information with actual relatives. Contact Gina Paige at African Ancestry she might can give you information on how you can create that type of platform online.

The year of return and the year of departure, Can Ghanaian reconcile these two please. I am still baffled that at a time we are encouraging our diaspora family to return home, Ghanaian are busy destroying the businesses of fellow Africans, forcing them to go back to their respective countries. If these diaspora returns and live in Ghana for 5-10 years will you be able to differentiate between a returnee and Cameroonian, or Nigerian, or Biafran? just like Xenophobic actions of south Africans we all condemned is what my Ghanaian people are gradually adopting. This incident has been happening consistently for a while now with the most recent been yesterday. Ghana should remember that it took the effort of all both Ghanaian and none Ghanaian to win the confidence of the diaspora to come home, but it will take one to destroy. Your government should call the people of Ghana to order before they destroy our collective interest. If foreigners are guilty of breaking your law, let the law enforcement do their job. we must not return to this barbarism of self hate, hating our own people and loving an outsider, That was why slave trade was made possible. during that time Ghanaian constitute majority of the west African frontier force which serves the interest of the white salvages from Europe. seems nothing has changed.
please i pleading to my Ghanaian family not to toll the part of self destruction. African is big enough for us all, a thousand Cameroonians, or Nigerians, or Togolese leaving in Ghana can not bring down your economy, however, one Chinese or European can mortgage your future for life. therefore recognize who your enemy is, But love your brother.
