- Cerro Punta is located over 6500 feet/ 2000 meters above the sea level. Considered to be "the bread basket" of Panama with vegetables growing everywhere as far as eyes can see in just the right climate to make production very successful. Quick note: if you'd like to visit early in the morning or after sunset, please remember to bring a jacket as it can get pretty chilly in this altitude. Vegetables do not get any fresher than over here and you can find huge bags of them along the road, even rhubarb is grown (have been unable to find that anywhere else in the stores). This place is truly beautiful with a scenic route to drive, a must-see on your Panama adventure.

When I visited Panama that was absolutely my favorite place. But it's a little remote from things.
Agreed, Cerro Punta is secluded from bigger cities. Although, Volcan close by appears to be developing with more and more services. This really was a fun trip- fresas con crema is a big draw for people, rhubarb (we have been unable to find it elsewhere in Panama so far), amazing berries, and meals as fresh as it is possible to get makes this a must-see destination. The experience of seeing Finca Dracula's over 2000 orchids and other tropical plants is something truly unique that folks will appreciate when seeing them in person. Janson Coffee Farm in Volcan is impossible to bypass whenever visiting that area of Chiriqui.

We are glad you enjoyed it! Will go back again soon. There are vendors by the road who are selling the most amazing berries for $1.50- a bag. Intense flavor just like for example some berries from the forests of Canada. Go really well with a breakfast or with ice cream.........
