The Beautifully Smooth Aim of Snowi - Unraveling the Secrets of Aim Ep. 3

- While Snowi has not played aim training in full for a very long time, it is insane to think about how ahead he was in terms of technique during the humble beginnings of Kovaak's and the aim community. His bounce 180 score here • bounce 180 150.5 was 25 points above second place.
Whose technique should I cover in the next episode of Unraveling the Secrets of Aim? Let me know in the comments below.
Sorry for the delay on this episode. I really wanted to get this sponsorship deal out and let you guys try the tea:

whats your cm/360 if you dont mind my asking?
funny zarp guy
Except in game.
Another trick for improving smoothness technique that I learned from my own personal smoothness god, Scucchi, is to train on easy versions of the scenario, especially at the end of the day or when you are too tired to do harder scens. You can still improve your technique. I found I can play on easy scenarios for a really long time, but still push my technique.
Yes indeed.
Awesome video! Snowi has been my favourite aimer ever since I watched one of his vods. His technique is just so nice to look at
THE SNOWI METHOD YESSSS IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS VIDEO FOREVER
Absolutely beautiful video
I've seen a lot of videos on this recently and am really liking it. I've been trying to smooth out my aim and be less flicky. Woohoojin and Daniel Kapadia have both covered this recently with how you flick being more of a deacceleration curve and understanding this has helped me a ton. I've now noticed this is how a lot of pros aim in game.
So good, thank you for this series ❤
pls do more videos like this. it is really fun to watch and educational.
Thank you for explaining and breaking down the exceptional technique of Snowi and explaining logically how we can achieve a similar level of smoothness ! I look forward to more of this style of content where you explain and teach us how we can continue to improve and learn from the God tier aimers in the community. Thank you for all you have done for us Mr Overwatch
Great stuff, your interview with ddk was great stuff, and this content is even more rich.
Interesting how there are certain characteristics across gaming, sports, etc., that are almost more desirable than pure performance outcome. Snowi's smoothness is the aim equivalent of this. I would aspire for Snowi's smoothness and top 10-20 aim over top aim anyday. Watching the Bounce 180 example is pure kino.
To go way back, reminds me a lot of toxjq from Quake. He was the pinnacle of aim from his arrival for what seemed like over a decade. Even though there are plenty of players who match or surpass him in aim (e.g., serious, clawz), there's an it factor that stands out more as a spectator. This type of smoothness is the same trait.
I'm old (in gamer years) now, and don't have much time to play anything anymore, but thanks for breaking this down and articulating something that, for a couple of decades, has just seemed innate in very few players.
thank you matty i needed that
probably one of the first times I haven’t skipped an in-video-ad because it was so goofy and caught me off guard
Amazing video, thank you.
great video matty
Being more consistent and aiming with intent is the way to go if you want to see and feel the improvement. Whenever I post runs, people always say it looks “disgustingly slow” but very smooth.
I’ve always trained my technique and accuracy over speed, and while I’m still not as fast as I’d like to be, I can still achieve top scores with higher percentages than others. Consistency is much better.
I am amazed by this type of aim. Mine in tracking sessions are the equivalent of a train wreck
This is also what you want ingame, because at high level you either are doing the right move (in which case you just need consistent aim you can rely on getting it done) or you are dead anyway. There are always chaotic counter examples where the theoretically wrong play succeeds due to crazy flicks or the enemy just not being prepared, but those only happen once a game or so. I often whiffed easy shots in the past because I thought I need to be flashy, which resulted in having lower confidence and constantly second guessing every move.
Thank you! This makes me motivated to keep grinding this way.
I play Apex legends and most of people that I know plays with a flicky technique which I dislike... instead I like the smoothness flow aim that the controller(pad/joystick) player have and I want my aim to be like that even though I use mouse. It's not impossible since I see so many Korea/Japan OW/Apex player have this kind of smooth flow aim with mouse so I keep practicing slow and low score but high accuracy but I have been doubting myself as of recently. So this video just makes me feel so validated! Thank you so much! ❤
Also I think the smoothness of the hardware's fps (I have mid laptop) makes it hard for me to see when I use flicky technique so maybe that is why I dislike it hahah 😅
i love these style vids
can't believe he finally released this video
XD
ur my goat
thanks to this video i will never flick ever again thank you and see you next time
thanks getting 300 on bounce 180 now
Its gonna be a fun run sience I like smoothness more then speed :3
Thank you goat for t he awesome guide again 🐐
Snowi is one of a kind.
very cool video :3 !! keep it up :D
this is something i've kind of discovered myself through osu, as a game that's very consistency based, i noticed that the people who spammed DT to push their aim would be overall inconsistent while the people who took their time with lower ARs would have a higher aim consistency and a higher baseline skill.
As someone who has only played a little but of OSU in the past, can you clarify what DT and AR are?
@@MinnVictus DT is Double Time mod, speeds up the map by 1.5x. AR is approach rate, how fast the approach circles close in on each note. Lower AR would mean that the circles close in slower and are on screen for a longer amount of time.
gudsushii explained it :)@@MinnVictus
This is why one of if not the best Nomod AND ar11 players white cats biggest tip or advice is to play ez/ezdt which is super slow, the exact opposite. I did that and especially when I started out I basically could outplay anyone in my rank range (120k even 50k’s on certain maps) but I still was a speedy player who just learned to also be calm.
I disagree (not with your point, but with your osu analogy). As a consistency player who reached 4 digit using only Nomod, I feel immense regret for not learning DT while I were a newer player. Maybe this applies for osu! only, but there's a prevalent pattern among top players which is one tricking dt aim to the top, and then expanding your skillset from there. Playing DT pushes your skillcap, which is the only thing that matters if you are trying to reach the top. Consistency can be learnt later on when you decide to join tournaments and whatnot.
I do agree that's its very different with aim training tho, u need proper technique and consistency for that
Hi Matty OW, thanks for the amazing video!
Just one question, I'm iron/bronze in Voltaic Benchmarks and do the V.D.I.M routine.
Should I continue like this with another 30 minutes of smooth tracking or just train tracking for a long time? (like gold in precise tracking)
this intro is the best intro in youtube history ngl
awesome video i love this series!!
hearing that unreal tournament ost brought back memories bro
Most important video on the page and it’s hard to take notes on because I can’t see the transcript .
Nice video :)
Awesome video! I saw your interview with Daniel and I'm working my way through your backlog. I'm particularly interested in close strafes and the idea of "running out of mousepad" (something I hear people say occasionally when they die in overwatch!). I saw your video "Close FS Thin Evo V2" and I was under the assumption that since you change sensitivities for different scenarios, you would choose a high sensitivity that would let you avoid the "running out of mousepad" problem. I was really surprised when you literally ran out of mousepad and simply set it back quickly and resumed tracking!
I was wondering if there's some nuance behind it. After seeing you do that it was kind of mindblowing. I have been practicing 20cm/360 so I could 180 around blink like crazy on Tracer, but my tracking is better ingame and in Kovaaks on 35cm/360 (though I feel like I run out of mousepad easily at that point). I play on a large 45cm pad for reference.
I guess I'm just wondering if there's a trick to quickly resetting when you run out without impeding your Kovaaks run or gunfight in OW. I have been binging aim related content and have yet to really see the mechanics of this addressed. Although maybe the answer is just lift your mouse up bro and I'm overthinking it lmao.
In general for fps games, is it better to be smooth and accurate when flicking or should i flick really fast and micro adjust if needed?
good video :)
You guys always make it seem easy, for me no matter what sens I use aiming towards the left side is my big weakness, it feels impossible
its over then
@@precisn7783 rip career
could be your mouse grip, if your thumb or something is causing friction when u move the mouse left it could fuck up your smoothness
Matty giving up the secrets of how to edge moving balls
you should check cs surf wrs if you like smoothness on the mouse. Its not really aiming since they have no target but strafing on a consistent pace is rewarded and some runs are mesmerazing
Do you think yay has a similar aiming technique as snowi? He is really consistent and doesn't really flick fast but is more about accuracy.
snowikit my goat
Someone send this man a new mic already, great video tho as always
Smoothness helping with clarity is very dependant on your monitor.
If you are smooth and have consistent movement on your monitor, you will consistently see some amount of ghosting / blur that could make it difficult to see what is going on, on bad monitors.
Flicking and then stopping to see what is going on in this situation would be easier, because the amount of blur caused by on screen movement is lowered.
This is why you see a lot of people flick very snappily in games like CS, where any amount of blur could make the enemy incredibly hard to see on a bad monitor.
If you have a good monitor though, then smoothness is the way to go.
define bad monitor
this seems to be contrary to the HNA routine. Is this the superior technique for tac fps?
matty, will u update those vids more frequently
Decent video
anyone know what cm/360 snowi usually was on for these runs?
can you share your aimlab or kovaaks settings?
calm smooth aim also seems more applicable to actual comp games. guess i gotta let go of this cod habit super flicks and start practicing this control then.
What sensitivity and DPI do you use vaorant, aimlab? greetings
can you do gooning technique next
Could you please tell me the name of the scenario between 5:59 - 6:05 ?
bananafps been catching strays for YEARS
nah fuck that vod
Waiting for the Video about Stark
cover BlueWhale's Air next pls
Bro really said "trust me bro" in his ad
Slow is smooth, smooth is fast. I never heard any aimtrainer guy say that but it's apperently said to every sniper/marksman in the military. I train at ±80% of max speed and have close to 100% accuracy. Speed will come with time but your fundement is and always must be accuracy in my opinion.
Simon woke up today and chose violence.
Slow is accurate, accurate is fast.
SNOWI (ME) TECH VID.
yeah totally
This completely contradicts hna's guide and your video about static clicking, where you said that the main mistake players make is that they don't flick, but move the crosshair smoothly, right?
That is strictly static clicking where I found that issue to be most present. This video encompasses far more than that. Also, the problem isn't really that it is "too smooth." A more updated descriptor would be that it is "too floaty" and indeliberate.
yippee
What exercise for game like PUBG they often dont move fast, CQC and occasional cars passing by and tiny targets from far with sniper
I wish I could learn such powers (I’m a shitty aimer unfortunately)
what sens does snowi play
What’s snowi channel?
is it possible to know what sens Snowi is using?
he uses cm per cenario so in static he uses 50 cm
Another great player with insane calm aim is Loud Less
8:16 what is the name of this song?
I MADE IT INTO A MATTY OW VIDEO WTF
do you remember a couple years ago, the top precision tracking player was hauntr, but the 2nd or 3rd best was a guy who had super shaky jittery aim? thought his name was snow or something like that. trying to find his vods again.
active aimer
bro you took my description
Theme mame plssss
im not as good as snowi but i can relate to the aim type lol
Ur trash kiddo
no way the :3 aim method is actually real 😭😭
I think the best example of this aplied to a game is Aleksandar playing Valorant.
6. It'll all be over soon
8. slapped
9. fuck it i wanna go to hell
do i see a pattern here
And I still can't find a cm/360 for me
Use whatever you want, ot literally does not matter
in valorant i think noted has the most smooth aim by far
"trust me guys my scores went up after drinking this" 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😔😂😂😂😂😂😂
Sestroyed pls
dont
TL:DR - aim calmly. "Slow is smooth. Smooth is fast."
minecraft ost on background is a dirty trick in terms of mental atrraction -_-
I filling to your videos
😂
Snowi is a she! (at least she had a girls voice). I used to hang around in her quiet kovaaks streams all the time.
Zamn not a femboy? 🥵 😭
Obviously his aim is impeccable, however I think it is only useful to train like this for certain genres. In valorant or CS2, it is unlikely you will ever have to shoot more than 6 or seven targets, typically within quick succession where speed is of highest importance and pacing has to be ignored, and over and under flicking can be compensated for by burst firing.
How fast you flick doesnt matter if you miss
@@notyannz your first flick is almost always going to miss, so click timing is most important then micro adjustment and/or spray control.
he is dog
can't believe he finally released this video
