How 1 Week of Extreme Aim Training Changed Me Forever

  • I'm horrible at shooters... so let's fix that! I did a lot of research, some intense aim training routines in both Aimlabs and Valorant, got coaching, reviewed gameplay, grinded deathmatches... just to see how much I could possibly improve (and if I could climb out of Bronze). I was honestly amazed with the progress, hope you enjoy the video and the journey!

Short disclaimer that I'm not a pro yet at Valorant, there's definitely still things I can do to improve my routine.
But for those wanting to mimic the training I did, here's what I did every day (after experimenting the first couple days and getting coached):
    -2 hours of Aimlabs
-Between 30 minutes to 2 hours of Practice Range
-2x Deathmatch with Sheriff, 2x with Guardian, couple more runs with random guns (like Phantom, Ghost, Marshal and Spectre)
-Multiple Ranked games, when I had a bad game I jumped back into Deathmatch and rewatched the footage to find flaws
-If I had time left, I went through every Aimlabs exercise 1 more time
I know this is a really intense routine most people probably don't have time for while I could fully devote myself to it, but still hope it's useful to people looking to improve!
My Aimlabs Playlist (can definitely still be optimized):
Headhshot (Precision) / Spidershot (Speed) / Spidershot (Precision) / Motionshot (Speed) / Motionshot (Precision) / Microshot (Precision) / Gridshot (Ultimate) / Decisionshot (Ultimate) / FSA Reflexshot (Precision) / VCT NA - YAY / VCT EMEA - Scream / Gridshot 3x3 / VCT NA - TenZ / Icebox Wide Flick / VCT Leer Shot / Voltaic Intermediate Benchmarks S2

Great video and great content! It is amazing how good your aim has improved over in a period of 1 week and congrats on exceeding your goal in rank.
I can see you reaching way higher ranks in no time as you have the correct mindset to do it from the start.
You didn't do much mistakes apart of the ones you mentioned on your video although I think one huge part that will help you rank up is a good communication with your team (even on solo queue).
There is so much that you can adapt to if both you and your team pass the right information + map pings that denies the enemy team from catching your off-guard.
In terms of peeking an angle I would suggest you to incorporate in your games the mindset of what people call slicing the pie (clearing common angles slowly to isolate fights to 1v1 and deny trades from the enemy team).
I have to admit that I am on the other end of your gameplay, I feel my game sense is decent enough although my aim is lacking and your video is an inspiration to improve on both ends.
Keep the with the great content.

Been playing FPS games since 1999, some competitively. I think the thing that takes FPS beginners' aim to the next level is understanding that aiming is done nearly as much with your left hand as your right. Understanding the relationship between movement and aim is the key to getting better. IMO.

    • @HeadsUpTV
      @HeadsUpTV Před 2 měsíci

And this is the key to becoming the best of the best. Most players today believe that aiming is done solely by the mouse. Over time, they come across players who can perfectly dodge their shots, while shooting them down precisely Understanding the sync between keyboard and mouse might take time. But when they do, it will feel like winning a lottery.

This was astonishing for just a week of practice. Your experience from speed runs and so on have enhanced your skill of retaining information and it shows, this is how muscle memory comes with ease to you when applied correctly. As you were saying around the 16 minute mark.. it is definitely stressful to be juggling so many barely touched skills at once. In my experience break them up like you do fights, focus on what you can first and deal with what you can’t afterwards… they’re just skills afterall. I can’t say you won’t ever not have stress when playing, but the more you can rely on your skills, the less you have to actively think about using them and just do it. My apologies if I was simply captain obvious, but as you also said, proper headspace is important, most important if my experience serves me any use. Anyways, definitely subscribing despite my lack of enjoyment towards valorant, but I like your mentality and for that you’ve a loyal viewer

The funny thing is that I have not been playing seriously any FPS on a mouse since last year, yet I could feel every move of your mouse, each inch of muscle memory. By watching this video I could accurately relate to what happened the moment you didn't eliminate the enemy. Keep on going, feller. You are on the good path.

  • @ohhkennny766
    @ohhkennny766 Před rokem +10

To consistently swipe, flick in the general direction of the target so it's within wrist range, then use your wrist to finish the alignment. Always flick with your wrist + arm together or just wrist
otherwise you'll never have a consistent flick as overshooting/undershooting or building weird habits will make your aim worse in the long run since you'll make missing shots a habit if that makes sense. It might sound like it'll introduce latency when flicking on targets at you're using two separate motions instead of one, but the end goal is to merge both motions into one dynamic motion.
always try to focus on accuracy over speed. eventually, you'll be accurate enough to consistently flick at any speed without missing.

Nice job, not sure if anyone mentioned it yet but another thing you can work on is not peeking angles while holding W and a direction. It's a much cleaner and quicker peek if you just set your crosshair and then strafe the angle. I hope that makes sense and helps!!! There are also a lot of videos that show how you can peek better like I'm describing, maybe check those out. Your aim is getting clean but movement is definitely a huge thing in Valorant as you have realized. Nice job!

Amazing progress for 1 week, normally those videos are pretty boring but this was amazing, i do want to give you a few tips tho, not just about aim, i do recommend hopping into a custom game and practice your crosshair placement on the desired map, doing a clearing path (walk around the map clearing EVERY angle, so you get faster at it and learn the swiping aim, poorly used but pretty underrated!) and the other tip is a tip that will help you enjoy more besides ranking up, try to review your gameplay and review your util usage, you had almost every util available on most of your clips, so knowing how and when to use your exclusive utility can be as important as practising your aim. Keep it up, it was incredible!

Love the improvement! Currently I'm at dia 1 with so-so aim but that proves aim isn't everything despite it being a fps shooter. Game sense would carry you through the lower ranks but it's a lot harder to develop compared to your actual aim. Some tips i would give is watch pro players or tournaments, see how they play and even think about why they do it. Try taking up lurker roles or even controller agents to start off. The amount of micromanagement needed to be effective is very apparent for you to pull them off (Astra timing her util, harbor cutting angles so you can isolate more fights, and enemy rotations u take advantage off to know when and where to flank)
Hope you video your improvement and make your way to immo : )

    Nice progress, congrats!
I just wanted to point out one thing that drove me nuts: the way your mouse cable kept hitting the PC case (?) starting from 2:06
For me, that just heavily affects the way I move my mouse around, especially at lower sensitivity. If the cable gets stuck or even "bumps" into something, the mouse movement/trajectory is affected. Might be an insignificant thing for other people but it just gets to me. I personally use a wireless mouse but even if you'd want to keep using a wired one, I'd just try to find a different way to keep that wire as loose as possible and nowhere near other objects for it to bump into.
    Keep up the good work!

Honestly pretty impressive! Glad to see you lower your sens and get used to it quickly. Only thing I noticed that can help is getting better with bursting. There were a few clips where you’d burst multiple times while aiming around head level and your bullets were going to the heavens. Try to make those bursts as close to your crosshair as possible. Best wishes.

One thing that'll really help you get much better is getting good at counter strafing (also called jiggling). That's when you can very quickly move side to side and hit accurate shots in the split second you're changing direction. If you don't learn that, it'll be much harder to climb as people will be able to head shot you really easily if you have to stand completely still to aim back at them. When combined with good crosshair placement, it allows for super fast corner peaks that most people won't even be able to react to before they are already dead. It's really the main mechanic that makes good players feel so hard to kill since they almost never have to actually stop moving to get headshots.

This video was actually very nice to see. As a person that has religiously played basically only FPS games on keyboard+mouse for around 14-15 years, this reminded me of back when I first started with old cs titles and I was just happy to be improving. And the idea of simply improving really stuck out in this video: the point of the video wasn't you simply becoming an aim god that everybody wants to watch like yay, but simply getting better than when you started, and I think that's what a lot of people are missing. It doesn't matter if you're not high immortal-radiant, especially if you're just playing for the fun of playing, and I find it super dumb to see people commenting things like "insert rank" is the start of high elo, or some similar bullshit when that should just be based off of personal level. If youre in silver, plat is good and something you should reach for, and iron games look easy to you, if youre in high immortal, ascendant is easy as hell and radiant is what you're reaching for, so then how could one possibly be the basis of high/low elo?
This said, do you have any plans on continuing this series? I'd be great to see you continuing to improve, and while you're at it you could try and document what you learned along the way, and maybe it could help someone in a similar rank see what their flaws are and try to improve with you.
Either way, +1 from me :)

Hi bro, I'm from Brazil :)
We use to play fps games very often here, but I don't see disciplinated people like you even in gold or platinum!!! We are very good at aiming, but people here gets too lazy for learning things, and you did it so well and quick!!! I'm proud to see your improvement in-game!!! Congrats.
I'm not saying brazil is bad at fps btw, we have a large community and awesome disciplinated players like, we won last worlds :) I'm proud of it. But I also like to see people doing their best at something, it makes me want to improve even more!!! And help others to improve with me!!! If you want, I can tell some tips years of fps showed me, and even things people don't use to notice. There's lots of things no one says and it's very important.
I'm not the best valorant player, my highest tier was diamond. But I'm sure I can help you, or anyone's interested!!!
Just comment below. I would be happy to help you!!!

This was an awesome watch. To improve that much in the course of the week is bonkers, but you put the time in and you reaped the rewards. The journey might not be a straightline to immortal, but you found a process that's getting you results. I appreciate your grit to grind out the day that you weren't feeling so great, which I think stresses an important lesson. Sometimes it won't be your day, but the practice you put in that day will pay dividends in the long run. Only thing I would stress is the importance of rest. Taking some time away to give your mind and body a moment will do wonders. Making sure that you're getting enough water, sleep, food, and relaxation will do wonders for you improvement journey. Good luck in the rest of your games!
