  • Craig visited the crew at LT Wright Handcrafted Knives in Ohio. Craig’s dream knife was designed and prototype on the way. Here is a look at the shop and how their knives are built.

    Good video demonstrating the varied equipment, different steps, and the labor involved in completing a quality knife. There were 17 employees working and an owner clearly overseeing quality control and distribution. One can appreciate the equipment and labor costs better when purchasing a knife from LT Wright after viewing this video. I do. I have my first one ordered now, the Outback. Ironic perhaps, but I learned about LT knives from an Aussie CZcamsr: Cedric and Ada Gear.

    From steel blanks to perfection and a lot of loving inbetween by some very special workers. My LT Wright knives are my most used of all my knives. My "Little MUK" is a jewel to me and goes with me where ever I go and is used every day. From the bottom of my heart, Thank You and God Bless you all.

    Craig, thanks for bringing us there and thanks to LT for letting you film as a knifemaker myself it was interesting to see how they do things and as he was showing us I'm like wow that's not that different than what I do so that was cool 👍 also now that I know he does laser work and I just might have to design my own school knife (already have an idea😉) and send it in to get it lasered with my logo I do know I'll be sending him a set I'm building to get it built as a piggyback system again thank you and LT

    I didn't know that the companies making the knives have someone else do some of their knives for them. I ordered a knife from Case & Sons, and also one from Buck with my name engraved on them and then company may have done that work for the major companies.

  • @HeartlandMakesAndOutdoors

    That my friend was a fun place to visit, I am really looking forward to seeing what you have come up with. I can't wait to see that. Keep us posted on when its released and where to get it ordered from. I know from your reading your books you like this company. I am still in the market for a good knife, and have one of his on my list, but now you have me curious of what you two have come up with.

    LT Wright and Joker leather sheaths are bonded leather and cannot be wet-formed.
    Bark River and other quality knife companies use full-grain leather not bonded, which can be wet-formed.

    • @NatureReliance
      @NatureReliance  Před rokem

      They went form just fine for me. I guess you don’t know what you’re doing

    • @turtletruth
      @turtletruth Před rokem +1

      @@NatureReliance Have you ever wet-formed a full grain leather sheath like a Bark River or Tops for example?
      Full-grain leather wet forms and molds hard like cement, not soft vinyl!
      Bonded leather cannot be properly wet-formed. (Bonded leather is sawdust leather scraps glued together and heat pressed) However, the Ferro rod holder and the inside leather strip "Sharp Side" on LT Wright and Joker sheaths are real full-grain leather!
      JRE Industries who sells the sheaths to LT Wright do not claim the sheaths are made of full-grain leather! (Which they are not!)
