Shane was a realistic character, a good gunslinger as well as a strong man but at the same time a fool who if he hadn't been nervous and had relations with Rick's wife, I'm sure he would have made it to the last season.

@@shark_shield2518 yeah man, I wish he was there the whole time. I'm on s4e12 and I still miss him like hell 😭 he just stuck with me I seriously got incredibly attached to shane and no one else is the same. Jon Bernthal is an incredible actor
I get that, but he was legit a problem though. He tried to kill Rick 3 different times, tried emotionally messing with Lori, killed Randall and Odis and lied to the group. At least Rick was honest the next day with the group about killing Shane.
If Shane hadn’t had his obsession with lori and didn’t die he would have most definitely been the best character in the show next to Rick and Daryl.Shane was ahead of the curve so far everyone thought he was crazy

Shane snapped/broke almost immediately
TV Shane was definitely way more hardened and ruthless. It really felt like he saw the way things were way before anyone else and was willing to adapt to the new world. Makes me want a 'What If?' type story where Shane successfully usurped Rick
when you realize after Shane dies part of Rick is slowly became like him in the rest of the season

Shane was a good character but he was weak and got annoying after a while. I have my issues with Rick but he is definitely a better leader. Shane snapped at the end.

It's Lori's fault. After Rick came back, she freaked out at him and told him to stay the hell away from her and Carl, because he said Rick was dead (which for all he knew, he was). This was the catalyst that caused it, if she had not reacted so harshly towards Shane, he would not have had the same gradual melt-down.
