    A few notes from Claudio:
"The Arhus Etude No 9 is a typical orchestra audition piece at the finals of German orchestra auditions. It is a study written by the Danish professor Bent Lylloff in the year 1969 and for my taste, one of the best studies that have been written, because it makes a compendium of all the different styles that each snare drum player should handle.
It starts with a quote from Rossini's "La Gazza ladra" to continue with a virtuoso gallop to enter a rudimental study appointment. Then comes a part in 4/4 with references to the typical Prussian appoggiaturas (almost always played with the press and not as is customary in the rudimental school). It is followed by a part with accents that even reminds us of a samba groove. After demanding extreme dynamics, he leads us to two marches: the first one of infantry in 2/2 and the second typical of cavalry in 6/8. It is followed by an exquisite part of different colors in pianissimo with extreme articulations and accents to quote Ravel's bolero, then Sheherazade and finally by quoting Prokovief's Romeo and Juliet.
