I have the V and the the sound is incredible! You can even play it unplugged and it plays like an acoustic. The thing I like is the woodgrain is in a v and every woodgrain matches up perfectly. Also they are built the same way as the Gibsons including the neck body joint. I have 5 Gibsons and like this guitar just as much.

This is the 3rd epiphone Korina flying V I've owned over the last twenty years and definitely the lightest! Wow! Im currently shopping for an explorer, which will be my second. There were actually between 35 and 40 1958 explorers made. 19 explorers were shipped in 1958. 1 was shipped in 59 then another 15 to 20 were shipped in 1963. They 15 to 20 from 1963 all had 1958 serial numbers. The bodies and necks were finished in 1958 but the hardwares pickups were added in 1963 .some have nickel hardware and some have chrome as gibson were making the transition from
Nickel to chrome at that time and the explorers finished in 63 had early patent number pickups rather then PAFs . Again these are considered 58s and have 1958 serial numbers.

Bought the explorer last week, great sounding guitar. Everyone moaning about the price. It is a top end epiphone. I have two Gibsons and this will go toe to toe with them. Just because it doesnt say Gibson on the head stock theres a few guitar snobs about. Even if they didnt have an hardcase with them it would still be around £900ish and people would still say too expensive. It is epiphone but your also getting Gibson pick ups in these. Buy the £500+ V or explorer if its too much which all epiphone stock.

I recently got the Epiphone inspired by Gibson V, in black, but I am not sure that if I had waited, I would have paid the price for these. I wanted to see if I would like a V and I do. I will likely get a Gibson at some point. If you really like the Korina look, it's worth it. The regular V is $649, upgraded pickups ($300), better wood and nice case ($150) so yeah it is priced higher. I would still just buy a Gibson, maybe used.

This seems to be a good guitar. I have an epiphone 1958 explorer korina from 2009 and it was a good guitar for the money. I think it was
around 430 euros back then. This must be an upgrade. I think that Gibson - Epiphone is trying to create some higer end Epiphones and be competitive
in the 800e-1300e market. The same thing that Esp does with Ltds. Until now the most Epiphones were around 400-700 euros.

I bought one of each. Got the Explorer first. Was a little disappointed. Running my hand along the contours of the body reveal tooling bumps. Also had fret sprout. V was much better in both regards. They are nice guitars and play very nicely once set up. Fret sprout can be fixed and I can overlook the tooling marks on the body. I feel the price would be fair if they had rosewood fingerboards.

Let me try this again. Lol I have 11 gibsons 2 Explorers 1 vee bought them in the 90s mostly les Paul's. This passed week I bought the vee and the Explorer because I'm a lefty. The Explorer plays similar to the gibsons but much lighter while sounding amazing. The vee plays so good and sounds better than most of my gibsons this really shocked me. A fellow luthier that I've worked with for close to 30 years was the one who told me about them. Before them I hadn't picked up a epiphone for at least 20 years. I really should have checked them out every once and a while. Great guitars. Definitely not like the old epiphone. And knowing gibson the lefty's probably wont be available for long. 😊

Most of the solo to "Freebird" was done by Allen Collins and his Gibson Explorer. Iconic and I want one lol. Although, and I understand it doesn't say Gibson on the headstock? That's not bad for the money they are asking for. You are still getting all the gibson specs, Pups, real Korina wood, and a case. It's not a cheap Epiphone, but Epiphone has been making much better guitars of late. I own an inspired by Gibson Epiphone 61'
Les Paul SG myself. It's a great guitar and I changed the PUPs, I hated them to be honest. With the PUps I put in, handwired real PAF replicas? the guitar is freaking fantastic. So much so that it's better then the Gibson one stock. I want that Explorer!

Who's gonna do the comparo between this Explorer and the (my) 2022 Epi LE '58 Korina/Gold Explorer with to me a better Pau Ferro board and correct logo placement albeit no case and no Gibson pups (add $300 and still) for HALF the cost or $650 and it's a fast beautiful hot rod with no visible break on the top three piece solid Korina/Limba body - this was only available from AMS/Zzounds now sold out or "done" although they have some Korina Explorer basses left for $6 bills. Both mine and this version are made in same Chinese factory so to me Epiphone is being a little sly here. I freakin' love my amber Korina Explorer especially at $650 - but at $1300 or $1450 after tax? LOL Nope - next one will be the $2k real Gibson (with logo in correct spot albeit mahogany not korina - but what people don't know is Korina aka Limba is not protected and not particularly rare so it's marketing baloney) Nice demo, MAN!!!!! 🎸 👀

I just wish they didn’t do that stupid satin finish. I would have already bought one if it wasn’t for that finish

I have the V from this series and used an orbital car polisher and Maguire's compound cream to gloss it up. Worked nicely.

Not very good sustain on either model. They are both top heavy and need to be held in playing position.

lol "inspired"...it's not "inspired", they are the budget brand, just like LTD is to ESP, Squier is to Fender etc. ...and that's fine, I got no problems with that, but people who say this stuff, are the same people who will sell an Epi listed as Gibson, or an LTD listed as an ESP, it's disingenuous, it's like saying a man is a woman and vice versa lol

There really is nothing budget about a 1200 guitar.

I'll pay $700 more and get a real Gibson Flying V. It won't be Korina, but so what. I'd rather have Gibson on the headstock. And made in the USA, not China.

I would agree. I am by no means a guitar snob. I'm a warehouse worker, weekend rocker. And I have had sooo many Epiphones and Gibsons over the years. And even the most high end Epiphone never beat the tone and feel of my cheapest Gibsons. The Epiphones were never "bad", in fact they were solid great guitars! But there was always a "better" feel and tone from my Gibsons, even with the same pickups. These guitars being in the $1,200 range, was a mistake. If I am going to spend that kind of money, it's going to the Gibson version.

I played this at the Gibson garage . I would usually always pick a Gibson, but the Gibson's explorer and v that are 2000$ just aren't as good as they should be. You'd be up in the 4k$ area to get a decent one

@@pippydog28 Agree, definitely try before you buy any Gibson and save yourself the disappointment and hassle and attitude of having to pack it back up and send it back to an online seller.

@pippydog28 That's the downside of Gibsons. Their inconsistency is maddening! But when you find the right one, no Epiphone at any price range will ever even come close. Not saying it's right...... just how it is.
