I just have to say that this guitar channel is so refreshing. No constant out of context 'TELL US DOWN IN THE COMMENTS BELOW' for each and every detail, no sucking up to brands, just some cool guy that shares his love and knowledge about guitars :3
Cheers man thatâs appreciated! đđ
Also, the videos are so well produced and edited. The continuity between each episode of a given series is obviously intentional and well thought out. Colin's production skills are on full display in each vid. There are often unexpected surprises that keep viewers interested.
@@nellayema2455 Thanks mate đđ
Damn right bro, this is a bloke you could have a pint with. not some sponsored content wanker
It's funny at the end of the Guitarists thought process he always comes to the same conclusion - 'I'd be silly not to buy this hugely expensive Guitar!' đđ
đ€Ł True!
Aloha from Hawaii I have 2 Epiphone Flying Vs 1st is the 2016 Korina Flying V black pickguard I love it $599 AMC The other is olive drab with the probucker pickups . I have been looking at the $1299 one but for that amount might as well buy a Gibson I just subscribed to your channel
@@tomleary121257 Cheers Tom! đđ
What a great episode! Looking forward to next week's. This is the way to do guitar reviews.
Cheers that's appreciated! đđ
You got that right here here!
Best thing on CZcams, which I most look forward to hearing my friend talk about and jam guitats. Got me a PRS 245 this week. Pure love!
Another great episode, your playing was lovely testing it out.
Really looking forward to next week's fun.
You are truely a guitar hero. Trying to fix that broken neck. Incredible. The Black One has a truely great sound and the playing is getting next level. Thanks again mate.
I paid $599 for my Korina Flying V, it is the version prior to the newest release that did not have the Gibson pickups and sans case, I did purchase a case for it($139), but it is not the square type, almost exactly like the black case you have, but mine has gold hardware/latches I played it last night and it needs a small truss rod adjustment. Confessions of a guitar addict. I love my Korina V, it is so light and resonant, almost acoustic-like in how it projects.
The guitaristas is such a great channel and heâs absolutely right in his conclusions about Epiphone! I own all the typical US made American guitars but I keep my trinity of Epiphone custom in Alpine white, Cantrell wino and 59 Limited addition first in the rack next to the couchđ€
Hi. I just wanted to say hands down you have the best guitar channel on CZcams.
The Korina V is offered as a lefty, so tempting.
Looking forward to seeing the repair. I remember seeing an interview with Gary Rossington where he said that they always sound better once they have been broken and repaired
Iâm really looking forward to see that the repair work on the headstock. It looks like a nice clean break so shouldnât be too difficult to repair. Hope all goes well and looking forward to the next chapter âïž
Great vid and so much looking forward to next week's episode good luck repairing it colin đđž
Sorry Colin late to the party today. On my shoulder I have that other bloke, at 59 years old itâs amazing how much I listen to him now and follow his advice. Glad youâre doing the same đ. Love both Vâs the Korina is the one Iâd like to own, Iâll have to see what the other says. Have a great bank holiday weekend! đ€
So cool. Cannot wait til next week! This I must see!
Great plan. Looking forward to the next installment.
The black Epiphone does look and sound good! You're decision to repair the neck on the posh V was unexpected! I'm looking forward to the hi-jinks next week! I wish you good luck, mate!
Looking forward too nest week! Thanks Colin
Only Colin can do a review on a guitar with a broken headstock đ Well done and back to Les Paulâs, SGâs and Teleâs
Wow Colin what a turn up! A real jaw drop! Canât wait to see.
Hi Colin, During last weekâs unboxing of the two flying Vâs, it became clear to me, that the black shaped epiphone hard case you purchased, provided much better protection for the guitar as it ensured that the guitar remained held, static inside the case, even if the case was delivered inside a larger oblong cardboard box, and the parcel was stored in transit, upside down!
The brown pink lined case unfortunately did not offer the same protection for the guitar inside, especially if, somewhere along the way, in transit, the package was stored upside down, or dropped on itâs head, the Flying V, iwould slide down within the case, and without the benefit of a volute where the neck reaches the headstock, the neck joint just snapped under the weight of the package. Youâre a braver man than me, for taking on such a repair, Great informative and down to earth videos, kind regards Greg, an avid watcher!
Looking forward to seeing you next week. Brave man
Heart like a lion Colin! Wood is very forgiving canât wait to see how you get on. Best of luck!
Colin great vid! I thought for sure you were going to send this Korina Flying V back, but then later on in the video when you mentioned they didn't have any more in-stock, never did I think you were going to attempt to try to repair it, how exciting! Definitely looking forward to next week's episode and all the best with the repairs, cheers mate!
So look forward to your videos, such knowledge passed on ,cheers mate.
đđ
Glad you decided to keep it (for now). Flying V really fits you. And the capo cast was brilliant!
My favorite show! One thumbs up and a comment for you. Excellent as always!
Oh man! Canât wait for the fix! I have been itching to hear that korina one. Btw the black one sounds incredible. Thanks Colin, I had no idea I wanted a flying V. Now Iâve got a Gibson in my cart.
oops! đ€Łđ
Always great simple, to the point guitar content, happy Friday âïž
Cool channel cool guy
Another great review! Thanks Colin.
Fun film Colin! The Epi â59 Les Paul I bought came with Wilkinson Deluxe tuners, and I was also shocked! The guitar is absolutely wonderful. Your films on Les Pauls were no small influence in my decision to buy the â59. Thanks, and keep âem coming! đâ€ïžđžđ¶âïž
It's that time of the week again!! đđ
Great Chanel. Keep doing this good work. Very helpful and informative.
You big tease you! đLooking forward to Friday Colin. đđ»
Great episode Colin.. ive had the korina explorer for about a month or so. At first i didnt think it was worth the money. $1600 Canadian. After giving it a couple of hrs of love on the set up and frets and a month of plaing it, i have to say im growing attached to it. It sounds and plays like butter. If you need an explorer, id say it fits the bill. Cheers from Canada.. Jeff
Just to add to what a few people have already mentioned, Iâve got a Lemon Burst Epiphone 59 which has Wilkinson tuners. Your deep-dive review of the Epiphone 59 played a big part in the decision to splash out on what is probably a nicer guitar than I can really justify for my playing ability, but I absolutely love it.
Good luck with the neck repair!
Very Cool Thankyou. Stunning guitars and playing. All the best with the repair. Cheers
Looking forward to seeing you fix it, I am sure you gonna do a great job :)
Great vid Colin mate, wish you all the very best of luck with fixing her! :)
Great program! You have my condolences about the Korina, but it appears things are looking up. Certainly, I will be all eyes and ears next week. Cheers!
Great twist in the tail there Colin đ - Standard sound blew me away. See you next week
I fixed my SG that had a whiplash fracture exactly the way you are planning. Iâm not a woodworker either but worked perfectly. Left a tiny hairline crack in the white finish but you canât feel it. I saw a vid where someone finished the final top coat glue with superglue and knocked it back. Worked for me. Looking forward to seeing this come back together
Colin, I have every confidence you will absolutely nail that headstock repair. Maybe some extra âtone holesâ like you gave that SG will be in order toođđ Good luck mate đ€
Good luck with the repair Dr. Colin!
Surprisingly, Colin, my 2014 Epiphone SG Pro has the same Wilkinson tuners.
Lovely video, cheers!
Hi Colin! I'm really looking forward to this Flying V project. I cringed when I saw the break in the last video. Hopefully you can make a player out of it. The black V sounds really good. I also enjoyed your jams today. I liked the chords and the licks you put over them. Good stuff man!
Cheers!
Really enjoying your channel. Love the tone of your fender amp you mainly use for these reviews. Play out backing reminded of someone calling for a "doctor" with flying v soloing over the top. Great stuff.
đđđ
Colin, partly on the strength of this excellent video, I am now the proud owner of the "poor man's version". Absolutely love it - feels and plays like a dream. I might swap out the pickups for something more grunty in the future, like EMGs - but for now I'm very very happy. Cheers mate!
Nice one, I am keeping the 'cheap' version myself... unfortunately no-one seems to want to buy the expensive one off me! đ€Ł
Loved the sound of the affordable Epiphone, all flying V's seem to have great tone, cut and bite.
However no matter how big my guitar collection eventually becomes, I can't see myself ever getting one (thanks 80's hair rock đ).
Oh and you're braver than me, that would have gone to my local luthier to fix, good luck can't wait for next week đ
I sent back my snapped head Epiphone- excited to see this repair! Go Colin!
Iâm a bit surprised how close the specs seem on the PUs.
Canât wait to hear the Korina V and see how you fix the split.
Wow! What a great idea to repair the guitar live! Thanks for another great video and sharing it with us! Almost sounded like Ghost Town by Poco you were playing at one point? Cheers!
YEAH! Colin is going to fix the Korina V! That's what I was shouting at the screen last week: "get some money back and just fix it đ" Can't wait for next week's video!
I thought the same...it would make for an unusual and perhaps highly entertaining film!đđŻđ”đ¶đ”đ¶
Big respect, Subscribed!
Hi Colin, thanks for another ace video for a Friday! I have an Epiphone â22 Les Paul Classic which has Wilkinson instead of Grover 18:1 tuners. Just a bit of boring trivia for you đđ»âșïž. Have a great weekend!
I am thinking about pulling the trigger on a Flying V. Great video as always; thanks Col. Greetings from Montana btw! đșđž
The cheap one sounded great Colin....looking forward to next week though!!
You're a very brave man attempting that repair!! What could possibly go wrond indeed!!?? Im looking forwatd to next week ..
Hi mate looking forward to the neck repair. I have always wanted to know to do that
Your a Brave man
I think that you have a new favourite guitar!
Mind how you go hobnobbin' with the toffs tomorrow Colin - make a great weekend of it.
Many thanks for another great adventure and good luck getting Captain Korina back into shape.
I can't wait for the fix it video. The suspense is killing me!! I haven't had a broken headstock yet. But I'm only 62 and there's still time. Need to learn how to fix it.
On the tuner question, I just bought a new Epi SG Classic and it came with Epiphone Classic tuners. Bravo to you for deciding to fix the korina V! Please don't use that thin CA glue to fix the headstock break! Use the Titebond, clamp it and wait 24 to 48 hours for it to set up. The CA glue would be useful to drop fill any finish flaws after you glue the neck back together. The black V sounded really good to me, I have a couple of guitars I've put ProBucker 2 and 3 pickups in and they sound great! Cheers brother!
just settling down to watch with a lovely cup of warming Tory tears
You may need a large mug...
This is a guitar show not a bloody political show. But whilst you are at it 22% voter turnout out tells me all parties have no support.
@@johnblack9037 Thanks for your support John but it was a joke and exactly the sort of thing I'd expect from Frank on a day like today... funnily enough you are the one that just made it political! đâ
Seeing that Korina V's are my absolute favorite guitars, I may or may not be able to watch next week. đ
As breaks go, that's a fairly easy one to fix. You can also reinforce it with a couple shims and never have to worry about it again.
Looking forward to seeing your repair video.
Very good luck with the repair mate. Really looking forward to hearing the comparison.
Why did l think that the Korina was never going back to the shop?đ
I like it. Good sound. Nice job man.
It sounds surprisingly smooth, big fella. Thanks for that. Here in Australia, the Corina ones are even more ridiculously priced, although not as obscene as Gibson. Good idea to do a repair.
Yes they sometimes put wilkinson tuners on epiphone les pauls too! Great video as always!!
Will be watching the bonus content on the TV channel later to see how the headstock operation turns out. There's a lot to be said for taking the discount and fixing the problem yourself, not least because you're more likely to bond (groan!!!) with the Korina. At the end of the process, I'm betting there won't be a great deal of difference sound wise between the Korina and the Standard; certainly not something that can't be sorted with the money saved on the 'affordable' version. However, will be happy to be proved wrong as, either way, it will be very interesting. Cheers
Another awesome video from Colin and his Crocs of rock. That black V seems to have âitâ. Did you know there are also Orville Vees đč
Thanks for taking one for the team and doing your "duty" and buying one for the review!
I think i want one now. I have always thought the upper register was wide open on those and probably a plus. It sounded great and the electronics looked like they were really well done and effective. Thanks for keeping my habit alive and well!
I am a cynical as well the case should have protected the neck for the money. It makes me think it happened at the factory and they shipped it anyway. the case is not damaged is it? That always make me wonder. Damaged guitar and the box or case doesn't show anything...... it always makes me wonder.
I am super excited to see the repair work and the outcome of said repair will be such a wonderful surprise! What a great Idea! Thanks again for an entertaining Friday! Have a great weekend!
The outtro shred was great today as well!
Cool axe, great show âđ€
Hi Colin, thanks for inspiring me to buy my first Flying V. I ordered an older version of the Epiphone Korina Flying V, with the gloss finish and older Epiphone Classic pickups. Should be here in a few days, hopefully in one piece.
Another great video, Greetings from the U.S.!âïžđž
Nice one Gary! đđ
Aloha and Mahalo Colin! Good luck with the repair. I don't think there would be a big enough difference to justify the price difference. The Korina is cool
Very cool. Cheers!
What a fantastic video for some reason I think the korina guitars is interesting have a good weekend
Hi Colin, great videos. I have an inspired by gibson Epiphone SG standard and it came with Wilkinson deluxe tuners
I was lucky enough to get one of the zzounds exclusive Korina Vs for about $600 before they came our with this version. Stellar guitar. Super light, great pickups, after some minor setup for taste I couldn't find a fault. Every bit as good as the Gibsons I own.
Hello The Guitaristas. I bought both epiphone Les Paul 59s (Lazarus and Dark burst). In my personal case, the Lazarus has epiphone tuners and the Dark has Wilkinson tuners and both brands of tuners look pretty much the same. By the way, thank you very much for the review you did of both, that helped me choose... and I ended up buying bothđ
Delightful play out jam! You are certainly are full of surprises , attempting the repair. As you say , what could go wrong?
My ebony standard has epiphone deluxe on the tuners , but you had a hard case - I got a cardboard box!
Aloha ,,You got my heart , I am 65 pure Rockin Roll kid who grew up moving every year as military brat, I' have seen Alice Cooper ,Led Zeppelin , Black Sabbath and Pink Floyd all before 1972 and really dig your channel , I watch Trogly's everyday and have been into the Korina Flying V since my 1 st Gibson Heritage Flying v with the Tim Shaw pickups. They are now 10 thousand on Reverb ,,, I paid $979.00 from Guitar Trader New Jersey ,D series 2 piece body ,It is gone and until 2 years ago I finally saw Epiphone version from Quindou Factory .In 1999 the very 1st ones with Korina body and mahogany neck really felt raw to me compared to my Gibson. Well this 2016 -2019 has Epiphone logo on the back of neck ,are Awesome out of the box ,,mine I paid $973.00 being from Japan had been set up with Diadarrio 10- 46 s and a blue gig bag [Japan uses gig bag for everything] , Then I got the olive drab which is exactly like your ebony one, by the way it sounded great. remember the Joe Bonamassa Korina v it came with exact logo raised and the probuckers 2 and 3 .. I cant wait to see how it comes out according to Michael .Schenker they get stronger after gluing correctly. Rock On Mate ,NWOBHM thanks
Cheers Tom đđ
You are awesome my GAS influenced friend. Cheers from Texas mate
Already looking forward to the fixing video Colin. There is a first for everything.
Cheers
It's a great idea to repair it, I hope the discount was substantial- you are definitely doing them a favour. I bought my 2003 sg standard second hand with a neck repair and it was a bargain.
once it's repaired you will have to get some scratches and dings on it so the repair doesn't look out of place.
the 91 Gibson you have is really lovely though- i think you should add that to the comparison
Get some clamps Col ! Cant wait for the hands on neck repair instructional video.
Awesome thanks bro...ive been pretty fascinated by the new epi korina v..looks badass..
Thanks for the review. If I can save a little from my massive expenditures lately, Gibson R0 wildwood and a Fender handwired deluxe reverb, i want the Korina explorer.
You have great taste in guitars my friend. I have an Epiphone V on its way myself. Funny coincidence! Take care!
Nice one! đđ
I buy Epiphones with the necks cracked and broken all of the time. It is an easy fix but I have been doing this for many years
oh boy I am in the same boat, thanks for the video
Happy Friday! Still catching up on the Epiphone saga... too bad the Korina arrived damaged, good you had no issues with refund policy since you 'engaged' the guitar a little :) its a royal pain where I live to return or get a deal on damaged goods if claim had not been filed in front of delivery person.
I was really hoping to hear you playing the Korina one.
Cheers, peace.
Hi there ,
Great work bro ..
Iâm from the states ⊠NC
I watched your review on these V sâŠ
I own the Karina V 1,299 bucks
I listened to your inspired V499..sounds good đ
However the 58 sounds very differentâŠ
To my ears
look at it as a very clean sound w/ Tons of sustain
It has An amazing tone âŠ
Iâm looking forward on your review ..
the korina 58
Thx jamâŠ.
hi mt great vid wiv what you had to work wiv , ps i seem to remember that the early v,s you pushed the top part of the leg rest in and out pops a leg support m.
Good luck on the repair. Thought maybe a collaboration video with the other Colin - of CSGuitars would be great. He did a repair series of videos on an SG with a broken neck.
I don't know if that was a cover or just jamming for the playout, but that was awesome.
Heya Colin- Brother that black Epi sounds sweet! This coming from a guy who in 40-odd years of playing has never even picked up a Flying V. I'm looking forward to the reclamation job- that head stock looks like a loose tooth just waiting for a reason to fall out! I'll make sure I have my snacks (well Breakfast sandwiches as it's super early here in the States when the show drops) & adult beverages at the ready. Great show as ever!
Thanks Charles! đđ
This is a great episode, Colin! I like the V aesthetics very much, although haven't played one yet. Probably have to do something about it đ The Korina one really looks lovely because of the beautiful wood grain, but I'm really curious if it sounds significantly different. Reminds me of Joe Bonamassa's Amos I've seen played last week live. Do you think they are similar with his signature Epi V they don't make anymore? Looking forward to next week and good luck repairing that neck, you're a brave man! đ€
Good luck on the fix. I've never done one myself and that looks very unstable I agreed with you putting the capo on.
My advice.
I'd try to get some splines in after gluing it to help the solidity of it. Given it is deep and long down under the fretboard that would i feel give me the confidence. I'd probably take it to Dave the luthier I use when I exceed my skill level.
Recently bought an Epiphone Les Paul Standard with Wilkerson tuners. Holds tune perfectly.
Love the soloing at 26:52.

How unfortunate what happened to your guitar. You are a very courageous person to decide to repair it. I suggest a few very instructing videos that could help if you haven't come across yet on CZcams. I searched ''Hoe to fix an Epiphone cracked headstock"and "How to fix a cracked headstock" One is from Gabriel's guitars named: "Headstock cracked repair" He diluted his water based glue to make sure the glue would spread everywhere inside the crack. The good thing is that there are some resources. Hope your repair will go very well. I will be watching for sure
