For me Avatar is one of the best live bands right now.

completely agree! I've seen sooo many bands in the last 10 years, but Avatar is far and away the best I've seen live - I'd even say that they are a better live band than Iron Maiden. Don't get me wrong, Maiden is and always be Maiden and incredible, but Avatar's music is SO VARIED, so they get the edge for me.

Hail the Apocalypse is probably the only song by them I enjoy. It was awesome seeing that song live as well.

Avatar is amazing. They're great, very nice people. Very smart. They stay after shows to meet fans for free when they have time. All around good guys. They deserve to be bigger than they are. They have an album called Feathers and Flesh that has a fable book they wrote that goes with it. Their new album drops August 7th! Thanks for showing them love and support! 💜🤘
If you want more Avatar listen to Let it Burn. That’s the first one of theirs I heard and got me hooked.

Let it burn is at least in my top 10 metal songs but if we're talking strictly Avatar I prefer the two previously mentioned

I agree with your Granddaughter. I saw Avatar with Babymetal last year in St. Paul and they were fantastic. Very entertaining. Both bands put on a great show.
This was the first Avatar song I ever heard and it hooked me instantly. My suggestion for you two would be Daze or Carnival of Rust by Poets of the Fall 💙

Gotta admit, it only took one listen for Avatar to shoot right up into my top 5 favorite bands, which isn't an easy thing for a stubborn old metalhead like me.
I recommend also from Avatar: Smells like a Freak Show, Torn Apart, Paint Me Red (actually, you can't go wrong with anything from the Black Waltz album), Hail the Apocalypse, The Eagle Has landed, and too many other good ones to remember off the top of my head. Those guys seriously rock.
Every album, every video and every concert of them is a piece of art in every aspect. And it is meant to be this way. Great reaction and I am happy you learnt about this great band.

What seems a lifetime ago I met all the band after a gig at Manchester Academy when they supported The Defiled, it was the Hail the Apocalypse release time, I was absolutely blown away by their performance & a really nice group of people.

I saw them perform together with a freakshow, which made for quite the evening xD
They also had a pre-recorded fake radio program playing during breaks and before the show with news and features from the fictional "Avatar Country", which is a really neat idea, I'd say.

So happy you got to these guys, I absolutely love them and I'm glad you did too! Similarly, to your granddaughter I had never heard them until I saw them live, though for me it was at a music festival. I've been hooked ever since.

There have been 2 bands that the first time I heard them I was blown away. 1. Guns N Roses(1988) and now Avatar. They have been around for a while and for all this time I have missed them. Better late then never. Rock ON!!!
my first time seeing avatar was at a babymetal concert in atlanta. i have now gone back to see avatar and they have to be one of my favorite bands right now. best live performance ever!

The most underrated band...
Bloody Angel was actually the first song I heard from them that got me hooked listening to them.
You two put a smile on my face with every video - you're excitement at this music is infectious!
I'm curious how you two would feel about some of the heavier/more experimental metal stuff (which is my personal happy place). For heavier stuff, I recommend Gojira - Stranded. as for experimental... I'll recommend Animals as Leaders - Physical Education. I suspect you two might enjoy those :)

I saw Avatar in 2016 and they are easily in the top 5 best performances I've seen. They are unbelievably talented and so entertaining.
Avatar is one of those bands that I start listening to and then forget that I was suppose to be doing something else. Just can't stop rocking with them!

Johannes Eckerström is one of the best singers in metal right now, at least to me. He is so versatile and his voice doesn't ever suffer from him jumping and acting on stage. Love him so much!
You are right, the growl does take skill and technique to do without damaging yourself
One of my favorites by them is Night Never Ending. It's so uplifting that sounds like an anthem.

Avatar is one of the best, love and as people. I've spent a few hours total with them after their shows and they're very down to earth. Their costumes come from a folk lore from Sweden where they're from. If you ever get the chance to see them, please do and then wait for them after the show by their bus. It'll be about a 90 min wait but they will come out.
Another band that's down to earth and great live is Killswitch Engage. Check out their song "The Signal Fire" as they've had two different singers and this song has them both in it together.
