    Close your eyes and it’s like Vince Vaughn is teaching you how to chain tires.

    I've watched many vids on this subject. Yours is the fastest and simplest explanation. Excellent!

    Thanks for the video. I live in a hot climate, I still get excited when I see snow. We are in Canada on holidays at the moment. It’s almost summer. Clearly God was showing off when he made Canada, but my lady and I were scratching our heads trying to work out how people live in winter here. ( I guess you’re not as excited about snow as I am )
    Thanks again

    Right when you said you do the cams by hand I was going to say you need a tool. That's why that rectangle hole is in the cam

    Really appreciated how you showed the cam mechanism closely. That's always been confusing to me.

      Thanks for watching. Probably the most confusing part of the operation.

      @@drivetheglobe Would you please help me to understanding why some chains come with "no-cam" options? What are the pros and cons?

    • @drivetheglobe
      @drivetheglobe  Před 7 měsíci

      @@rtong12 to be honest I am not so sure. I think the cam option allows you to get the chain slightly tighter and you are able to drive a little faster.

    All good, except if you roll fwd until the hanging loops are at 1 o'clock, there will be no need to lay down in the crap to reach around and fasten that inner hook. The sweet little rig has plenty of fender well to reach in to. Also, I recommend that people hook the tightest loop on the inner rail, then work all crossovers up the tire and towards the cam, then hook the tightest loop on the outer rail. The two will not be the same, with the tighter rail being the inner. Then install the rubber snubbers, which will put a constant outer tension on the whole assembly that will fling the chain away from the vehicle if it breaks. That's how you want it. Drive a mile, then pull over and check for good tension. Properly installed chains will NOT jingle. They will make a solid, clicking sound, or even a sound like the gun on an A-10 or like a large metal zipper on a tent. Sleigh bells are bad unless you are in a sleigh.

    do you reccomend using the cleated V-bar chains? and any particular brand?

    • @drivetheglobe
      @drivetheglobe  Před 3 lety

      Depends on the application. Regular not cleated ones are good for snow and keeping on board for altitude passes and such. V bar is great for mud but brutal if any pavement is involved. Lots of choices on tirechain.com

    On a 2 wheel drive truck is it necessary to put on all four tires?

    • @drivetheglobe

      No, 2 wheels would be sufficient. Thanks for watching.

    Nice dry clean garage, tires and chains, what about if you need to put chains on during a trip and you are already driving in snow or mud, say chain law in Colorado. Might try a video outside in several inches of snow because having a nice garage is not always where you start your day. if already in snow tires are not as warm where they hug the tire more, crawling around the tire in snow in not fun and snow makes everything colder, mud makes everything even worse. just saying

      Very true, and great points. Having done it in the woods in snow and ice many times it sucks! And your fingers pay for it. Thanks for watching.

    You really need to fact check! Because, indeed, snow chains happen to be illegal in some states! Yes! Some states even outlaw studded snow tires!! "DOUBT ME?" Check Minnesota laws! Even North Dakota!

    • @drivetheglobe
      @drivetheglobe  Před rokem +1

      Might recheck your facts. All 50 states have provisions for chain use. nhhservices.com/chain-laws-by-state/ updated dec 2022
