    Great build video. The preditor is a very reliable engine. I have made it a goal to try the Gambler out next year.
    I love my preditor engine so far. I found an really old minibike that had full suspension and a 3 hp engine. Stripped it, welded all new mounts, split and expanded the shock forks and made my own version of the fat tire Coleman mini bike. I probably should have recorded the whole build. But this engine and the pulley system hauls 235lb me up any hill and does 44mph all day long. I still need a better carb, but have done all the other mods. I did build an exhaust header though.

    • @nuvey7939
      @nuvey7939 Před 4 lety +2

      I have a diesel, but it doesn't have any way to shut the engine down. The engine was originally designed to just cut the fuel feed line, and run it until it dies, turns out that can take up to 10 minutes. Fine for industrial small engines, but not for a mini-bike. lol.
      Been looking at either an air kill, or something inline to redirect the fuel away from the injector and back into the tank.

    Hi Jason just came across video. You do a great job of explaining things and being transparent. All of us make mistakes, that's how we all learn no matter who you are.I have been repairing, restoring the Honda Mini Trails for years & have heard comments as you describe. But just recently as little as Monday pulled two vintage mini bikes i had in storage & will redo both a Bonanza & a Bird mini. I am having a blast from the past, as I still have about 20 of these bikes in storage. Some will be customised , some will be fast, and some will be ugly. keep up the great work.

At like one in the morning I snuck down and took off the back tire and took it upstairs where I had a new tire sitting( thank you styro for taking me to get the tire) I stayed up all night figuring out how to get it on and countless CZcams videos 😂😂😂😂😂😂

      A friend of mine ran a kart track in R.I. he was a race cart builder, one of the best motor builders on the east coast, he ran a division of nothing but Honda clones we got from harbor freight and they were cammed, new carbs and pipes and they ran lap after lap, spinning 6 grand year after year and never snapped 1 rod. Make no doubt these are as tough if not tougher then the honda GX motors you cant kill them.

    Hey Jason, how 'bout seeing if the rear wheel will mate up with the front fork sliders? If it will then that will enable you to use the rear wheel's brake up front. Just go the Harley store and buy an after-market chromed 'P' clamp to bolt onto the fork slider to provide an anchor point for the backing plate's torque arm and yur good to go. Also, why not (just to be cool retro, that is) make a brake pedal, connected to the brake arm by a solid rod, operated by your right foot and replace the handle-bar mounted brake handle and weak cable? You could also ditch the flimsy looking foot pegs with good, stout foot boards. That would be truly cool.

    If your going to remove the governor,then maybe you should install a billet rod and flywheel. The regular flywheel can't handle the higher rpms. It could damage your engine. Gopowersports.com sells a kit for the predator 212cc engine.

      @@JasonExplainsThings Jason- Why not shave the flywheel to lighten it? That'll relieve the stress and give you a quicker revving motor, Also, why don't you replace the half-moon key that goes between the flywheel and the engine crankshaft with an offset one? It should advance your ignition timing by about 8 degrees and give you a noticeable power boost. I replaced the stock cast-iron flywheel on my 5-horse Tecumseh (on my home-made board track racer), which weighs 8 pounds, with a lighter, pot-metal one (also from Tecumseh) and it's now a NASTY quick-revving engine. A real screamer. There's gotta be a lighter flywheel available for your motor. Then you can gear it up with a smaller sprocket on the back and pick up quite a few more miles per hour on the top end.

    As soon as you can, put some tube protectors on your front forks. Rocks will chip the chrome and that will take out your fork seals.

    If you are gonna race a billet flywheel and Arc Rod is a must for reliability especially since you disabled governor your stock Connecting rod WILL break and or your stock flywheel will explode and can kill or injure you or someone else.

    What kind of battery are you using for the LED light? And the Predator 212's take a 5/16" x24 bolt on the crankshaft for the clutch/ TC driver pulley. Most TC kits come with metric bolts that don't fit the 212's (at least the eBay ones I buy). Same for the backplate bolts, they need 5/16 x 24.

Jason, you keep up what you're doing, if others don't like it, then they can find something else to critique...like playschool. New subscriber to this channel, can't wait to see what's next.

    12:46 -- If you're looking for a new mini bike, do yourself a favor and save a few more pennies and buy a Trailmaster MB200-2. I had 2 Coleman CT200U-EX bikes, modded, sold and now have 2 MB200's (one highly modded, one stock). Rear suspension, factory torque convertor, rear disc brake. Those 3 upgrades are well worth the price different between the CT200 and the Trailmaster MB200.

    I'm considering doing the front suspension upgrade on my CT200U, just like yours. I'm just curious... was a new front wheel hub really necessary? Wouldn't the longer axle bolt have been enough? I thought the wheel hubs were the same width between the CT200U and -EX. Also, could a rear wheel hub fit in the same space? It would be a slick way to get front brakes, just needs a little fabrication for the brake assembly to be stationary on the forks.

    One thing you should be aware of is that stupid throttle plate takes a bunch of rpm off your engine. Ive removed it from the Honda engine that was on my vintage Bonanza minibike,also on the 212 Predetor thats on it now. Its easy to make your own bracket to hold the cable housing,run the cable directly to the throttle body. 1/2 turn of the throttle- hold on my friend! I doubt you will still want to rip the gov...(many years on minibikes) 42mph on the Bonanza,faster than it should go .Its not real stable going that fast,its my favorite toy!

    Just tell the na Sayers
    To f%%k off and build as you want it!
    When I was 12 years old my big sister gave me a used mini bike and a used Briggs and Stratton engine.
    It took me all winter to get it ready.
    (Nov. to May)
    I read everything I could about small engines.
    I surfaced the head for more compression.
    There were no torque converters back then, I was lucky enough to find a sliper clutch.
    The "brakes" were a steel paddle on the frame that rubbed against the rear tire.
    I found a old golf cart and used two of its wheels with drum brakes.
    It worked!
    I had a lot of fun on that minibike, I still talk about it with my sister.

    HMB - keep on keepin' on with your content, style and productions. Poor wimperers that can't see straight unless it's up their own lens... One question from a beginner here: What is the difference in removing the entire governor assembly Vs. just disconnecting it from the throttle linkage? Thanks for all, cb

    • @JasonExplainsThings
      @JasonExplainsThings  Před 4 lety

      Probably both would work. Adding the mikuni carb requires disconnecting it either way.
