Can u play the French horn parts??? Me personally, i love the french horn parts of the opening titles! I always wanted to hear the brass instruments played in person to feel the full impact because itâs like listening to a national anthem but for The Wings of Freedom!!!

I am particularly attached to this opening, hearing the initial transition from the military march style to straight-up shredding on that guitar got me hooked for life.
It almost mirrors the Survey Corps, they're no ordinary unit of the walls' army, they got their own style.
The other corps represents normal natural instincts in most people
To survey and go out of your way to face them monsters is something for people built different
It's kinda a bad example
But most people would choose a normal white collar or blue collar job with steady regular safety in income and salary or good status in society and have a privileged life
Survey corps are more like the entrepreneurs ready to put everything on the line to win big in life or die poor knowing at least you tried and took your chance

Jiyuu no tsubasa is a great composition. Its so overlooked by most people because a lot of the best bits had to be cut out so it could fit the timeline for the anime opening, but really it's just as good as the others.
This song feels like a whole movie đ€Ł I absolutely love intense choirs in songs, it feels really cool
this song makes me wanna dedicate my life to the scouts
Another neat detail that I'm not sure if anyone has pointed out: The entire first opening and this one actually link together. At the end of Guren no Yumiya, you hear a low crowd cheer sound before the audio cuts. Playing Jiyuu no Tsubasa right after is like a direct continuation! Which just makes the whole thing even more cool. An extended song divided into two very distinct parts!
You've probably done this already, but watching videos of Linked Horizon live is a real treat :)
That woodwind interlude leading up to the OP1 reprise and the explosive return of the chorus is, like, one one of my favourite musical moments of all time. I think when I first heard it was when I realized that Linked Horizon was just on a level of its own - which eventually led to me discovering the composer's wider discography and absolutely falling in love with pretty much everything he's done.

Honestly a bit underrated compared to some of the other openings, I have always loved this one so much!!
As a pianist and guitarist, I must say that Linked Horizon has one of the best orchestral anime pieces ever. And not only their work on AOT is great, they actually do opera, musicals as well that focuses hugely on story telling. You should definitely react to more Linked Horizon.
What I love most about OP2 and OP3 are the kind of callback sections of the previous opening/s. It's reminding you of old times and the hype and takes you to further enjoying the song if you're a fan of the series. Great analysis

This OP is so underrated.
I would actually prefer this over The Rumbling.
I really like the âgoing through thick clouds and then reaching the clean open skyâ metaphor. It matches with the theme of the song, its name being âWings of Freedomâ which is how they call the symbol of the Survey corps. And season two is all about seeing the survey corps in action, in their full glory for the first time. Great reaction as always.

Also the song's tempo and flow feels like a nod to the high speed ODM gear chase sequences, with the high speed solos, zigzag, sudden drops and sudden peaks (I'm not familiar with the technical terms but it feels like that)

Not that its relevant but i always liked how Jojos bizarre adventure has ânormalâ openings and then SFX versions on youtube with all the stand sound effects and shit, when done right SFX is great and i absolutely love it in attack on titan openings

The full version is far above the anime version IMO. It's like 5 different songs in one and they're all fire.
This is my favorite song from Linked Horizon, second from the AoT. The callback to Guren no Yumiya (1st Opening) is phenomenal
My favourite part about all these songs is seeing how they inevitably incorporate the op 1 melody in and this one just might be my favourite with the effect on the voice and the lead in back to the chorus, Linked Horizon really are in a league of their own.
There is also an ending by Linked Horizon, Ending 4 - Akatsuki no Requiem. My personal favorite song by them, i remember you did react to it in 1-7 ending reaction, but there is also a full version you might wanna check
There are live concert versions of the AoT Linked Horizon songs on youtube that I'm sure you'd enjoy, the energy and intensity is amazing!

These full versions are so nice. For me they feel like the full story while the TV short versions feel like trailers. The guy Revo behind Linked Horizon is so good at telling stories through music and a lot of his work under the name Sound Horizon are amazing as well. The full albums feel like musicals you can see with your ears đ
This opening has always been my favorite out of all the AoT openings, and the full version is one of my favorite anime songs. I don't have much knowledge about music but I just love percussion instruments and MAN does the drummer go absolutely ham on this song. The melody is also heroic yet very beautiful especially the chorus, it just hits in the right spot for me.

I literally went to go see DCI Mckinney this week and I 100% agree hearing a Top 8 horn line play this song would litterally make me melt. And all of the possible snare and quad licks would be nuts
i love this openning in a special way. to me it is sits there next the first op in how awesome and badass it is. everyone is talking about the 1st and 3rd op "sasagyo" which are epic on their own terms. but they seem to be underrating this one alot.
i feel this opening here is the perfect anthem of the scouts legion. it comes in the part of the show where humans managed to win their first fight against the titans. you can see how prideful and celebratory it is . the lyrics demonstrate the mentality and resolve of the scouts soldiers. there is not a bad line in it.
where other ops more or less reflect the mood of the season and talk about the happenings of the show. with the first one being full of anger, the third is all about sacrifice for the future. this one talks about the scouts themselves and celebrates their deeds. as if it was made with the sole purpose of being a musical counterpart of a military parade.
and if all of that wasn't telling enough then the name this song bears is the name of the symbol the scouts carry on their back. the Wings Of Freedom. god it has the best ring to it out of all the other ops titles.
as an AOT fan I really felt the emotion with this masterpiece like I am part of the journey especially being part of scout regiment lolđđ„ș

The quality level of this opening is off the charts!!! It's such a good op, but got smoked by Shinzo wo Sasageyo. You can feel the energy behind it even if you don't watch the anime.

I absolutely love this song. It's such a joy to listen to from the very beginning to the last note and it changes every couple of seconds, surprising you with something new and going even harder when you thought they peaked a couple of seconds ago. It's such a wild ride to listen to the full version.
Jiyuu no tsubasa is probably tied for my favorite Linked Horizon AoT song.
I love how the song goes from the German marching band sound to just a pure metal guitar solo and then the song just keeps going and getting better and better, especially when near the end all the instruments kick in during a staccato (I think that's what it is, I don't know any music theory, so, uh...) and the singer just shouts the German lyrics (I think it's something like "Linker Weg, rechter Weg, na ein Weg welcher ist," even though that makes absolutely no sense, but who cares?).
Sorry if this is a mess of a comment. I don't know how to describe all the things I love about this song, and I dont wanna rant on too long either.
Anyway, I really appreciate your breakdowns of songs, as I feel like I understand a lot of it, even though my music knowledge is incredibly limited and you are clearly passionate about what you're doing, and I think that's great. Thank you.
