Thanks for a wonderful memory. I was born in 58. I still remember those Zenith commercials as a kid "The quality goes in before the name goes on" :)

I had no idea they were making cabinet style TVs that late. I assumed they stopped in the 70s.

I worked at an electronics store around 2000ish and elderly people still wanted them. The store where I worked carried two models. This was probably one of them.

My grandfather had one of these, but he bought his in the late 80s. It worked, but he got rid of it once he got a newer RCA CRT tube in 2000. I always liked these types of TVs with the wood cabinet. They had such character and sophistication.

I saw 25 years and thought "oh, 1988" but no, it's from 1999 and now I need to lie down.

One of my CRTs is 28 years old and still works like new. I've also got a LaserDisc player from 1988 that still works great!

I bought a Zenith color console in 1984 for $750 ($2200 in today's dollars). Still worked well when I gave it away in 2005.

Hang on to this thing…retro-gamers will pay a million dollars for it!!
I still have a basic, black plastic RCA from 1989 that works and has a great picture. I use it for my retro games. No remote, only push buttons …classic!

RCA / GE was still offering a console style TV until the mid-1990s with its modern Colortrak technology.

I remember when my dad would put a portable B&W TV on our living room console TV when the Steeler game was on at the same time a John Wayne movie was on too.😅
I also hated staying up late to watch a movie at 1am only to find out the TV Guide was wrong.
And special news bulletins interrupting your favorite show.

We had two TV's as a kid, a color and when it broke the b&w rolled with tubes in it.

As a CRT retro gamer, I would LOVE a wooden console TV with S-video inputs. I’ve never come across one like this. Honestly didn’t know they made this style TV this late.

Tbh I still have an old black and white TV from the 60s that still works. When I was young I played Nintendo on it in my club house out back of my house.

It’s hard to compare a last model console with the older models that came before it. I bought a new crt in 2006 so they sold them for several years after. Nice to see it.

Growing up, I remember my parents having the "Zenith Console TV," as you show here in your video. Thanks for sharing, Steve!

That's a nice set! I had picked up a Zenith set with only vhf/uhf from the garbage many years back, unfortunately the wood was all warped on the top so I kept it for a couple years but ended up throwing it out to make space. Still have an 80s RCA set that is in nicer condition.

I love the old things personally ❤but the old stuff should be preserved because the new TV's are computer chips and you can't work on the new sets like you could the old ones so please tell him to keep it

I have two CRT TVs a 19 inch Panasonic TV VCR FM radio combo and a 13-inch DTV DVD interestingly they do not make a letter box addition of shows for the old 3/4 ratio so if I'm watching a newscast and they have the weather for the week you don't see the first and last cuz you're watching it on a cathode ray tube not a wider flat screen
I would also say that the DTV DVD was also almost a half dozen years newer the new then your Zenith TV being about 2006 my place is from that same era has the same black and silver color scheme
