    I drive a lotus Elise CR s220. I would not change it for anything in the world .. as driving sensations it is fantastic, as aesthetics it is "Bellissima" beautiful, Lotus Elise s is a great car and finally also a good engine with volumetric, because 120 hp was too little for a car that has a chassis such..

    Yep, the engine we got in North America is the 2ZZ-GE twin cam from the Celica GT-S, designed by Yamaha, which is why it loves revving so high. I've had mine as a daily driver since 2005 and still love it. I'm saving for a TVS supercharger from BOE Fabrication-that will give me an all-new feeling. Love the videos, XCar! Keep up the great work.

    Just a minor point: We know that, historically, every Lotus model name starts with the letter ‘E’ and so it would be more correct to say that Romano Artioli insisted that his new-born grand-daughter should be named Elise. In other words it would be more appropriate to say that the baby girl was named after the car rather than the other way round.

    • @VonCoco1944
      @VonCoco1944 Před 10 lety +3

      MuggShotGaming With the possible exception of the Seven; a throwback to a period when Chapman had not yet resolved what was to become a major player company, all of the Lotus road cars have had the prefix letter E in their name. To include all of the cars you suggest are Lotus models by virtue of Lotus Engineering modification/development is clearly nonsense; even the most famous of which, the Lotus Cortina, is essentially a Ford with a Lotus developed Ford engine together with a number of Aluminium panels. Further, if we were to assume that all of the cars you mention are Lotus cars then we must add a serious number of other cars such as the Mercedes A Class [Lotus designed engine] together with all of Lotus Engineering confidential design projects for global manufacturers.

    My dream fun car is a Lotus from ground up Carbon based battery + two electric motors for each rear wheel. Maybe break wheel horsepower around 250bhp. The large proportion of the cost focused on the chassis & suspension for handling. Basically the ultimate electric road sports car.

    • @mariodiniz21
      @mariodiniz21 Před 8 lety +1

      +Tom Howroyd completely agreed, no one ever thought "hmm should I buy a Elise or a Golf". Golf GTI is a daily driver, Elise is a weekend toy, it is a second, third or even a fourth car, you don't buy it for the same purposes, not even slightly!

    • @KiraSlith
      @KiraSlith Před 5 lety +1

      @@mariodiniz21 Its funny you mention that, most of the Lotus line is a bit of both, even the newer Evora has features clearly meant to make it both a relatively affordable Luxury Sport and a daily driver at the same time with it's rear "seats" (they're more fancy shelves than seats on most model-years but w/e) and the human friendly interior. The S series Elise cars are absolutely the exception rather than the rule for Lotus.

I'm 6'4" and I have an excellent driving position.. However.. My brother who is just as tall but also a little fat doesn't.. So you can either be tall or fat and drive an Elise.. But not both..!

    The SC is the same engine as the R, just with a little more power and usability. I don't see how the R can be preferred over the SC (unless you don't like the supercharger whine). The post 2010 S is a different engine, lower down grunt etc. SC will rev high, so if thats your thing, the SC could be preferred over the S, but for road use, newer engine is more accessible. But nits and picking are words that come to mind, but no words can be uttered through the grin when driving any Elise.
