    Yaicha
I love to watch you smile
    Yaicha
You're the reason your mama smiles
You are a candle beneath the falling rain
You are the child in which the love still remains
Unbroken, you shine amidst the pain
Unspoken, you understand just the same
You are a candle beneath the falling rain
You are the child in which the love still remains
    Yaicha
I love to watch you smile

OH, such a a favorite of mine for so many years. It still brings tears. What a perfect lyric "You are the child in which the love still remains." Perhaps a great comfort for a child conceived in love but whose parents are no longer together. Thank you, Jon P-D, you are a treasure.

Thanks Jon....have loved your music since the great 70s......I also learned you are friends with my friend David Tamulevich......very cool.....I'll tune my J35 to open C and give it a whirl!

  • @Kinferrera

I remember when Julian (Richard's son) sang this song with you on stage in Boston.

  • @cs6280

Always wondered what this song was about - thanks! And I've loved this song for years and years!

Aaarghrrr! đŸ„”.I've been playing it in standard tuning for 40 years. There's a couple of notes that I never found.. Now I know why! Work to be done!

Simple can also be profound. I have appreciated the simple but moving melody for years and sat in my room and sung

I always loved this song. My band Hejl & Reign discussed covering it! I struggled to get the chords down, came up with something on standard tuning that would have worked, but really couldn't capture the richness of the harmonics. I didn't consider alt tuning, and because of this, we didn't cover the song.

Best 2 minute song along with "Yesterday" from the Beatles, in my opinion anyway :)

Your right hand technique is interesting! It looks like your index finger is floating and the thumb is bouncing to the G string in the alternating bass. I have loved this song for years... I have a second generation enjoying it!

Was that the Orson Welles Theatre in Harvard Square? It sadly caught fire and is no more.

Yaicha has been, and will always be, on my personal Top 10 Favorite Songs. A beautiful song that still resonates with me just as it did when I first heard it back in 70s. Still looking and sounding great, Jon.

I LOVE this song. It has always been so very stirring to me but I'm not exactly sure why. I think it's the music, not so much the lyrics. It'a hard to explain, but I FEEL music in an almost painful way. Hallelujah reaches me on about the same level.
