- In 2014, six climbers would attempt the most dangerous route on the most dangerous mountain in North America. They were alone...climbing Mt Rainer on a five day expedition, but when they didn't return to base camp, panic would set in....This is their story.

on a west coast trip when i was a kid our family stopped at mt rainier and my dad forced marched us up to base camp. it was miserable. we explored off to the right where there was a horrifying sheer rock cliff that dropped down forever into a filthy glacier with countless gaping crevasses. the sight sent shivers down my spine. rainier is no joke
As an Alaska Native and lifelong local, thank you for pronouncing Denali right. We’ll accept the other main pronunciation of course, but always nice to hear it said proper.
How else do people say it? I 100% believe people mispronounce it, I’ve just only ever known it pronounced it this way and I’m curious
@@christinaleonidas2786 Some common ones are Deh-NAA-lee and DEE-NAA-lee. Sometimes I hear DEE-nah-lee, but less often. I’ve heard a couple other ones, but more sparingly.
@@SomarinoaWait but didnt he say it deh-NAA-lee? Thats the only way I've heard it too
"DEE-NAE-LAI"
@@vitoanania6042 How dare you 😂
You should checkout the Bolton Potholes or the Huntington Gorge in Central Vermont. Both swimming holes have dozens of deaths
Hey Terror Twin, do you climb? Just curious. Would love to watch your climbing adventures. I'm a couch potato but love your channel ❤
"Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far they can go." - T. S. Eliot
Absolutely 💯👍🏽🌹
Maybe it's just me, but it feels a bit backwards to hear that the Disappointment Cleaver route is easier than a route named Liberty Ridge. Had to go back, and check so that I had heard it right. Thanks for the interesting video.
Having climbed both routes I can assure you that Disappointment Cleaver is much easier that Liberty Ridge, not as steep, not as exposed.
@@mikemcguire1160 I do believe you, but instinctively I still think the names makes it sounds as if someone said "This cleaver route was a disappointment! So difficult, I'll name it..." Then they tried the ridge instead, and went "What a liberty, much easier than the cleaver. I'll name this route..." That's how it sounds as if the names should've came to be, but I do realise that's just the interpretation my brain came up with when I heard the names.
The Liberty Ridge is probably named that because it’ll liberate you from this mortal coil 😂
It's also about a 2.5 hour drive from Portland, so there are a lot of climbers who go up north to climb it.
Great video, thanks
I can get higher than any mountain sitting in my room 😂☁️
✌️😙💨💨💨
😂 yes, I must admit, the only elevations I aspire to is Cloud Nine...😉😘💯👍🏽🌹
I love the Pacific Northwest. From my home in Portland I can see Mt. Hood. When I visit Seattle I can see Ranier. I can also see Mt. Saint Helen. They are beautiful...and dangerous. Even if you don't go into the mountains, they are volcanoes! I was here when St. Helens blew...nothing can prepare you for that. Whatever you imagine it will be like, it's surreal beyond that...I thought the ash was fallout from a nuclear explosion. I thought it was the end of the world. (I was young) 😏
Mount Rainier is the third most prominent mountain in the United States. Denali is first. Mauna Kea is second. Both Alaska and Hawaii became States in 1959.
I'm San Diego we have a Disneyland mountain called Cowles Mountain. A hot mess of overcrowding and dog poop. I support conscionable "Hike Health."
F around and find out says the mountain ⛰️
Yes, the mountains claim who they will. It doesn't care how experienced, how fit you are. Some make it down the mountain, others cannot.
Love your videos, but as someone from WA it's said ray-neer
Hii i m here
❤
Most peoples taking risk because it so hard to get a permit. And when they did it is fixed date even in bad weather, use it or lose it. Guess what most people do?
It will be less problem if they allow to reschedule permits date due to bad weather, but then it will be no dramatic, people like drama news so….
The comment adds better understanding to the deleterious outcomes.
Every ending is almost the same - avalanche or the elements.
You obviously haven't heard the story of Gabriel Walker and Jessie Deighan.
I haven’t - can you send link? I can’t find a story on them anywhere.
@pattysoucie24 did you expect them to burn or drown? It's mountaineering lol that's the most probably causes of death... falling, avalanche, and the elements!
Probable * oops
Thats because they don't want you to know the truth. It was aliens

Or you could just leave a thank you or heart or actually comment something relevant to the video instead of virtue signaling...
How is this virtue signaling?
❤️ & ✊ to all
Theres no way this mountain is more dangerous the MT McKinley in Alaska good video tho
129 deaths on McKinley. Less than a third of Rainier.
It is though, because people underestimate it
Pretty sure he was saying its the most deadly in the lower 48 states.
@@jmccormick1490he said North America, not the United States of America
This mountain has the most deaths because a lot more people try to climb it than Denali
Can’t believe you’re still using that terrible intro song man.
Came back after a few months.
I really enjoy your content but can’t listen to it at night because of that insanely jarring intro track…..
I mostly listen to CZcams as I’m falling asleep for a few hours so that just 100% rules your channel out because I get shocked awake every time it auto plays the next video……
Concerning. Perhaps consider a different media for sleep for the subconscious. Binaural music is a suggestion.
