  • As of patch 1.14 (November 2021) this refit is no longer possible. I will get a new one on the channel asap!
    I have been talking about upgrading the Sevastopol from the 'hanger queen' default fit-out for a long time in my campaign. In this video I go over some simple changes to the Sevastopol and then continue onward until the refit I am going to use in my playthrough for the endgame.

    Reminded me of the time my dad bought that old Moskvich car and the first thing he did, was to disassemble and reassemble the engine completely, replaced fittings, bolts, rings, gasket, refilled the oil and replaced the wires.
    The Sevastopol sure needs a overhaul when you first get it.

      That is a great little anecdote. There is for sure a gem of a ship somewhere in there, you just need to replace everything first. It's a little bit of a 'My Grandfather's Axe' situtation.

    Love the mouse spasm at 19:04. Kinds sums up my experience with the shipworks in this game. I really love the idea of designing my own flying warships but the tool are too obtuse for my smooth brain. That being said, the obtuse nature of the mechanics on the strategic map are definitely more my speed.

      @1Maklak Před 2 lety +14

      I also like the idea of Sevastopol being a quirky hybrid cruiser, radar, missile, tanker and support ship over having a pocket battleship. That's a job for an upscaled Gladiator or something. Having separate ships for radar, missiles, aircraft and dogfighting is the optimal way to build ships, though.

    5:49 - Although that is the image of an ECM module, I confirmed that it is not actually one. It's a piece that uses the image of the ECM but actually is not connected to any code. It does nothing. It doesn't add ECM to the ship. If you add an ECM module from the menu, you can see that it does add ECM to the ship and it has a picture, stats, etc. I can only assume that the Devs designed the Sevastopol early on and then missed that when they altered some code for the ECM. Maybe they did intend for the vanilla Sevastopol to have ECM, but it does not.

    I will actually swap out all the big guns for AK-100s. They are just straight out better, oh, and much cheaper. I've tested the efficiency between the same amount of AK-100s and 180mms a fixed number of ammo boxes can provide, and I cannot notice any difference at all after 10+ trials. AK-100s, in large quantity, are also capable of AA, and the sheer width of the barrage made them impossible to intercept, and they'll almost always hit the target, creating a constant stream of damage. In addition, they are cheaper. They are CHEAPER CHEAPER CHEAPER

      I also really like the 130mm molots. When you're talking about cruisers, then I'm sure a ton of 100mm gets the job done, they're really flexible, but on frigates/ heavy corvettes, molots do really well against cruisers. Simply replacing the 100mms on a Gladiator with molots gets you a gnarly cruiser killer

  • @Shenaldrac
    @Shenaldrac Před 11 měsíci

    I think the biggest issue with the Sevastopol is that it wastes so, so much weight and space on having those big engines and fuel tanks to support them. I mean, look at those big, chonky legs. Look at that slow speed. This thing shouldn't fly, it should _run._ A massive walking desert landship, more compact due to the removal of those fiddly, silly """engines""" with need for far less fuel. This may seem counterintuitive, but remember that your radar signature is massively reduced while on the ground. This thing becomes ultra stealthy when you turn it into a landship. You also no longer need to cover the downward direction with armor and guns, because nothing will be below you.
    I really think this revolutionary design vision is the way to go, really _the_ way of the future.

    - I like what you did to elevate the three front turrets.
    - I think keeping a FCR and the Sprints is worthwhile. One FCR really isn't expensive.
    - You could have moved two 57mm turrets as I showed in my guide to give them much better arcs.
    - I like your idea of elevating some of the RD-51's.
    - I've found in combat testing that having two RD engines (either 51 or 59) touch leads to them both dying simultaneously when hit. This was a major vulnerability that I mentioned to you in the comments a while ago.
    - I found that adding RD-51 engines along the bottom and then just moving the armor down, doesn't add any weight. I put a gap in between them so they don't all die together. It was also fairly quick to do during a campaign.
    - In the two places where you removed one 4x4 fuel tank, I would have removed the one adacent to it as well for aesthetics.
    - Where you removed the Zenit missiles, you could have removed the frame pieces they were on so the armor could just go straight across
    - The escape pods could easily be better protected.
    - I really didn't find elevating the 57mm turrets a big deal in combat testing. Just moving some of them to where they have better arcs worked a lot better for me than making the ship bigger to elevate them.
    - With all your changes to the top, you could easily add a flight deck instead of adding that top armor. The flight deck in this game functions as armor as well.
