  • Microsoft will invest US$2.2 billion to build new cloud and AI infrastructure in Malaysia. The tech giant’s CEO Satya Nadella announced this in Kuala Lumpur, the final stop in his three-nation tour of Southeast Asia. CNA's Melissa Goh reports from Kuala Lumpur.

    Congratulations Malaysia. This is the second AI-related investment from the world's largest IT company after NVIDIA, a renowned technology company, investing a staggering RM20 billion in Malaysia to establish an AI Data Center in Johor Bahru last February 2024. There is no report of Nvidia investing in Indonesia despite the Indonesian Trade Minister Luhut Binsar Panjaitan once persuaded and lobbied the CEO of Nvidia to invest in Indonesia related to Ai.

      Singapore actually have quota for setting up datacentre in terms of power consumption etc. So setting up IDC is getting more and more difficult in SG hence the tech company fleed to Malaysia.
