Been looking forward to this one ever since seeing the Zaku I video. Zaku II is without a doubt one of my favorite MS and I'm thrilled to see it getting the respect it deserves.
Honestly it, the Dom and the Leo are my favorite grunt suits (I'm not counting the Gelgoog since that thing was on par with a Gundam)

Ironically if they focused more on Zaku IIs they would have had a better chance of winning the war, instead they used expensive prototypes.

@@beastwarsFTW The reality of the matter is that with high performance Federation units out there like the RX-78 Series, such an idea was impossible; making the Gelgoog Zeon's only real chance at victory.

So in the end, Zeon outlived the federation.
@@themrfives yep, totally. My favorite mobile suit the zaku 2 outlived the fedies ms by at least 1000 years if not more.
Actually the Turn A Zakus arent the original OYW machines, they were replicas with different internals and cockpit design.

@@LordRyan9999 TBH, Zeon threw EVERYTHING in once they started losing... even obsolete Zaku I units were rearmed with whatever they could get and dispatched.

char's S type was actually a unique unit in it has the highest acceleration of any one-year war mobile suit mainly cause he had the limiters all removed from the suit.
Gotta love how the universal maintenance plan became instantly useless when they had to make a new design that isn’t compatible with the original parts which was the main point of the plan
Eh, wasn't useless. Sure, parts would be updated for new units. But the idea would be that those new units would be able to share parts as needed. Hell, the Gundam Unicorn was able to use Zeon weapons and tech because of said plan.

They got too busy bickering with politics and focused more on developing redundant prototypes in the Zeon high command.

Zeon tech is modeled after WW2 German design which was notorious for it's Crippling over specialization. it's a deliberate story element.
in universe it also makes it harder for captured units to be deployed against them. after all if you have no parts it's worth fielding.
The MS-06 Zaku ll was my most favorite mobile suit when i was getting into Gundam! Nowadays my favorite Zeon mobile suit is the Efreet, more especifically the MS-08TX/N Efreet Nacth.
I always liked the MS-06G high-mobility ground type Zaku, but it seems to be always overlooked. My favorite MS is a tie between the MS-07A Gouf prototype and almost all the Gelgoog types (specifically the MS-14jg Jager).

@@HeadCannonPrime yea i have alot of Gelgoog kits, my favorite is for sure the Jager- but its such a outdated kit. The robot spirits Jager figure is AMAZING but its not a kit but def functions like one

The Zaku II is my favorite mobile suit idk why, it's so iconic, simple and humble.
Because it was the first grunt. The underdog that could be modified for all sorts of missions.

I honestly like the B-type Zaku 2 kai. I think that looks more intimidating and fits better with the unionized maintenance plan as it looks a whole lot easier to replace.

In Gundam Breaker 3, I upgraded my Zaku II into a Hizack. And evolved my Gouf Custom into a Gouf Ignited. Good MS in that game. The different parts you can combine is kick ass. It allowed me to recreate MS that arnt in the game and make my own custom MS such as my Ultra Gundam.
man, there's so many different types of those zaku's, I should know cause I own a master grade model kit of the MS 06J Zaku II, so I don't know what's special about this one.

Now my question for why the Zaku-II had pipes is now answered. Although my question now is what would happen if ever a pipe gets damaged (ex. When Amuro ripped out the “snout/mouth” of one of the Zakus he fought during his first fight in the Gundam)?

Fluid Pulse System
The joints of Zeon mobile suits are driven by a fluid pulse system, which used a pulse converter to turn the energy produced by the atomic reactor into pulses of pressure within a fluid. Thousands of fluid pipes, finer than human hairs, transmitted these pulses at supersonic speed to the rotary cylinders which drove the joints. This system yielded a higher operating speed than hydraulics, and lower weight and greater structural simplicity than electric motors. The exposed power cables seen on some Zeon mobile suits, such as the Zaku II series, are part of the fluid pulse system, connecting the reactor to each joint.

The Zaku II is the Gundam equivalent of the B-52 Stratofortress "BUFF" as it just keeps getting upgrades instead of being phased out.

I love these videos so much! It's reminiscent of the war and weapon documentaries but I'm oh so fond of! There is a wonderful series called German war files depicting the weapons of the German weapons in World War II. If you like these videos then you should definitely check out that series!
Damn you Kcylia. I liked the shoulder paldrons going on both sides of the mobile suit. I like my symmetry with my designs. I wish more Zaku variants had shoulder paldrons on both sides of the mobile suit.

I'd almost be interested to see what people make of the machines from my Gundam novel... Bearing in mind, mainline Armed Forces tended to stick with more traditional Mobile Armours, Mobile Suits were developed by the militaristic wing of Naval Intelligence, while several Generations of Gundam-Class Mobile Suits were developed in secret on, what was generally believed by the masses, an Earth rendered unhibatible by nuclear war, instead living either in giant space colonies or in domed cities on Mars!

I will have to say my favorite zaku would have to be the Zaku 2-FZ type. Mainly because of the better performance it had, the weapon arranged meant, and the overall look of the unit. But one thing I am curious about is why didn't some zaku 2 pilots customize their machine to have 2 shields instead of one?
