AC3's navel combat felt like it had way more stakes to it. Compared to AC4 and AC Rogue, the fact that both the player AND the AI could deal massive amounts of damage in singular volleys made things a tad more intense/realistic compared to the looming HP bars from the game's successors. That plus Connor's VA putting emphasis into the dangers of navel combat. The slow movement of the Aqulia. The ordering to consistently change cannon shots. The movement of the crew around the deck. Everything really was ahead of it's time, especially considering the gamemode itself being a 'pilot' for what later followed down the line.
Yeah. At least screaming and how crew move around is more realistic in ac3 than in 4 and rogue. Edward and Shay shout fire too calmly. No anger or anything in the voice. But other than that ac 4 and rogue have better naval combat system.
@@damnsonwheredyoufindthis.3830 Nah, in my opinion AC3 had a better naval combat system because it took time for your cannon to be reloaded and a frigate could go down in 2-4 volleys making it feel impactful. In Ac4 you can fire off volley after volley with only a 3 second interval between your shots, it is still a good system but it feels much less impactful than AC3.
The fact that Connor went from near inexperienced captain to ramming his ship into a galleon to board it alone and destroy the powder reserve save the Aquila just shows character development and how awesome this game was.
Black Flag is good, The ships are better, The High Seas ost. But this song and Connor shouting fucking orders in The heat of fucking naval battle will be forever in my memories.
