I have both of these amps, returned the gs100 due to its lack of performance it sounded like it was only pushing 100 watt max only at extremely high volume levels, I don't understand why it's so weak.
The 4ch XM-GS400 is fan cooled. If you throw any luggage on top of it, you can kiss it goodbye. They run hot because they are small and they are class AB. Blocking it's only method of cooling will result in the amplifier overheating.

I agree. So I'm assuming there is a push pull fan setup I side that rack. The only thing I would add is a metal grill over those amps just to protect them.
good video, I have bought the same amplifier when I turn on the fan is not spinning is only start spinning when it’s over heat or something wrong with the amplifier please help
Depending on the temperature of the unit, the
fan operates in one of three modes: stopped, low-speed, high-speed. Are you having any performance issues?
@@crutchfield no issues, it’s brand new, just fan is not running, may be it will start when over heat
I have JBL stage 1220b subwoofer with an impedance of 2ohm. There are two set of terminals for connecting speakers in Sony gs100 amplifier. Can these two channels be bridged together with a subwoofer that has a final impedance of 2ohm?
The Sony XM-GS100 amp is a mono amp that has two sets of speaker terminals wired in parallel inside the amp. It cannot be bridged, but definitely works with 2 ohm loads. It is rated to output 600 watts RMS at 2 ohms.
