This felt so bizarre, even for One Piece, it was horrifyingly brilliant! Oda really said at the start of this arc “you know how I don’t usually kill characters, let’s start off with destroying a Nation today!”

Yeah it's a fitting start to the final saga and especially a fitting start to the events of the egghead incident in the manga it goes to show that death is starting to become a common thing.

Shaka got head shoted
Pythagoras got incinerated
Vegapunk got double donated by Saturn and kizaru
Sentomaru idk I heard he died but forgot if he did it's been a while since It happened
Kuma idk what's happening with him if it's just him having a final outburst of his will to protect his daughter from harm.
Besides the deaths just the overall vibe of some of the characters like kizaru and Saturn
Kizaru just having that vibe of despair anguish sorrow from needing to kill his friends and after successfully killing vegapunk just that no will to live anymore.
And Saturn looking menacing feeling like it's not looking at the characters but at viewers.

Only fishmen island can save the world of humans from what vegapunk said would happen as they are the ones who have the Noah and remember all the oppression that the humans have showed throughout the series to the fishmen? I can clearly see a point where the human world is in *INSERT WHAT VEGAPUNK TOLD WILL HAPPEN* and the fishmen being reluctant to help the world but then they'll be motivated by otohime and fisher tigers ideals and agree to help

Unfortunately (I think) this goes unnoticed by many One Piece watchers/readers, because I rarely see people talk about it. Oda definitely knows what's up, when I saw the celestial dragons in the Sabaody Archipelago Arc, I knew exactly what Oda was hinting at. And seeing Luffy punch one of those disgusting pieces of shit right in the face was truly one of the most peak One Piece moments to this day. It perfectly shows Oda's position in all of this. A beautiful writer with a beautiful soul.
