- THE CHEAPEST and EASIEST WAY TO TRY radio controlled (RC) FLYING ! (EASY TO FLY Volantex Trainstar)
AVAILABLE HERE: bit.ly/2WWZyEq
This is the cheapest and easiest way to try radio controlled model flying for the first time ! You get everything you need in the box except the 4 AA batteries for the transmitter. Charge up the flight battery with the provided USB charger connected to your laptop or desktop PC. After charging attach the battery to the velcro on the bottom of the aeroplane and plug it in. Turn on the transmitter and put the top right switch into 'Beginner' mode and you are ready for your first flight ! Take off from the ground or gently hand launch to get into the air. As your confidence and ability improves switch to the medium setting and you will get more control of the aeroplane as it flies. For an extra challenge flip the switch to Expert mode but be careful...the aeroplane gets very sensitive to control inputs from the transmitter.
PROS:
Everything in the box with exception of 4 AA batteries for transmitter
3 modes to support your ability (Beginner, Medium and Expert)
Gyro stabilised so flies smooth in light wind
Aeroplane made from EPO foam so very durable to light crashes
Cheap ! Great for trying RC flight before investing in bigger RC trainer aeroplanes
CONS:
No ailerons so will not perform axial roll
Small and light aeroplane so not good for medium to strong wind

I'm a keen aeromodeller, I bought one of these for my nephew to learn with and it really is superb! They are lovely and stable, robust and can be flown dead slow or perform aerobatics!! Brilliant
One of my friends has a Mini Trainstar, and he was able to fly it so slowly that I could (and did) catch it midair!
I've been wanting to try RC for a long time. Now I have an excuse to do so without spending a lot of money!👍👍🙌🤓
I try to get people involved with the hobby for $150 tops with a 40 sized trainer. If you fly with someone that knows how you can fly in 30 mph winds. I take it off (or sometimes my students) and then i land it. I havent disappointed anyone yet and then you get a 4 channel radio and endless possibilities. The trouble with the cheap little planes like the one your showing is people crash them right away and never go any further with the hobbie. They assume its going to be a loss thats 10 times more. I still have the first 40 trainer i started with and its almost 30 years old. I love watching people's reaction when the wind is blowing the wing out of your hands and they think were not going home with the plane. Heck ive even flown when its was raining. Dont buy cheap and find a good guy to help you. I used to go out every night of the week helping people. Glow fuel is getting expensive though. Great fun
I love it great plane thanks for the video good show mate
for fixed wing type planes you want no ailerons, just the rudder and elevator...once the controls are set so the right stick is the elevator/roll then you are good to go. Ailerons will quickly get a learner into real trouble, once the model rolls the learner will panic and make it worse and then crash. The rudder elevator system will produce a very tame roll (so you still get that aileron affect) which should be slow enough for you to correct if you are making a mistake. Once you are confident with all aspects of the model (ie flying towards you/away and some basic aerobatics maybe) then you could get into the aileron equipped models.
Its a very rewarding hobby with a good social aspect if you join a club.
.. is that the same like logic, that demands one join the AMA , pay the folks in Muncie so you can enjoy a hobby and socialize in a club with those same like minded ? just curious
and FYI had you watched the video that little plane helps a beginner NOT to over control ( roll over ) it has 3 modes something like the SAFE Tech..so one can learn by themselves and step up from beginner to experience rather quickly.....
@@daviddou1408 yes, the yaw/roll being slower should give the learner some time to 'twig' if they are making a wrong move. These days with those autopilot things that recover the model if you let go the controls...is just amazing.
I ve bought it recently and I like it a lot. Great recommendation. Thanks a lot
Brilliant presentation, most enjoyable and informative.
What a far cry from the Brick RC and Ugly Stick with 10” prop balsa I flew 1967.
I got me a use stick as my first plane for 100$. Got the radios and everything except a battery. Learned on that then a couple weeks later got a pulse. Been having a blast ever since. Luckily no crashes yet and I’m satisfied with those two planes for now. Thanks for the great video.
Axn cloud fly and a glue gun got me away. And can handle the wind. This looks fun
I fly rc planes and was wondering what to start my 7yr old on. Now I do. Thanks.
Got mine for 55quid. Great fun as i have never had a plane before. Can't go wrong at that price.
Just discovered this channel
Instant sub!!!
I've been flying RC airplanes and helicopters for over 35 years and I would still love to play with that!
"Play?" I guess it is true what they say, "the difference between men and boys is the price if their toys!"
I have always wanted to try rc plying but have no confidence in myself to even make the attempt.
@@jackkircher1755 A lot of models today come with auto stabilizing systems that make the learning curve MUCH easier to tame.
Hey @@jackkircher1755, play is a good word to describe what I do. It's just plain fun. I have several beginner (trainer) models of rc planes and while I am nowhere near to being an expert, they are fun to play with, if you have fairly windless day. All of mine have some type of auto stabilizing system in them and the three flight modes, too. Flying them will build your confidence.
FooBar Maximus Check out Louisiana Paramotor on Facebook. I'm on there and that's what I also fly beside RC. Paramotors are the greatest form of flying ever invented. We get together and fly all around New Orleans
@FooBar Maximus - I think I smell a troll.
That's a strong plane , as soon as it hit the ground i thought there goes the propellor blade but no .. i was shocked to say the least , i'm going to have to get one because i've never flown an rc plane in my life
Awesome video , I was hoping we would get to see it land..gotta admit wasn't what I was expecting..lol
My friend builds wonderful large scale models and some have very sadly gone home in bin bags, always put me off but this little thing could be the answer!
Thank you!
Neat little plane! Been looking at these on eBay for about $65. It must have the equivalent to AS3X , SAFE, or similar stabilisation. It’ll at least give you a chance to recover from mistakes while you’re learning.
Great video!👍🏻
Fantastic explanation. Awesome
Thank you!
Nice..useful info✌👍
Very nice!!!!!!!GRACIAS
Very cool!
I bought one in part on the basis of your review. It is excellent.
Great to hear Richard! Cheers Dom (Essential RC)
@@EssentialRC Did you use the kit charger at all? The instructions say it should flash while charging and be steady once charged. But mine was steady "out of the box" and I got a 10 minute flight without any charging.
But I hoped it would flash on charge now that the battery is flat. But it doesn't.
I have ISDT chargers that I can use, but wondered about the behaviour of the supplied one ...
Sorry dont recall but I definitely used it. I would use proper charger if you have appropriate charge lead.
Small sesna perfect model
Really nice
Cool!
Hahaha that landing tho wasn't expecting that
That is the best trainer plane I have seen yet! I've flown mine through two different motors ;-) I guess I'll do a brushless conversion of this plane as soon as I have time ;-) See you in the Air!
Big thank you for this. That is truly remarkable and looks like exactly what I have been looking for all these years. I only wish I had a similar switch on my brain so that I could switch to expert mode! It never ceases to amaze me how small, cheap and powerful the latest fly-by-wire tech has become. I already have a small cheap camera drone that I can actually fly due to electronic wizardry so maybe, just maybe....
You can't go far wrong with this XK stuff if you want all in one RC planes Robin...but then have a look at HobbyKing especially the Bixler 1.1 for the next step up. Awesome plane. Cheers Dom (Essential RC)
best thing to get is the free rc sim called FMS, its a german program I think. You will need to sort out a transmitter and lead for the computer. Its not the most high tec sim, but certainly good enough to learn with. I used a similar program back in 2003, it helped me a lot with fixed wing plane flying...where it all became second nature. The biggest learning curve was RC Helis, again the sim was good enough that when I finally got to fly my first real heli model...I was off around the field doing my first circuits. The sims that you have to buy do have added features where you can set up the model ie all up weight and engine size etc..and even 'failures' like running out of fuel or servo failures. The trick is to get to a certain skill level on the sim, then in real life just back off a bit to a level you are happy with...only bring in the advanced stuff when you got good height to recover should it go wrong. The sims saved me a LOT of time and money where I didnt have an instructor with the buddy lead system. I have taught people with the buddy system and its very rewarding to do. I havent flown in a very long time now, I tend to use just a slope soaring glider (quite enjoy the challenges of this) but would like to get a decent sim just to keep my skills up.
robraver. good suggestion, thanks. I do have a simulator and I kind of mastered it a while back but only in the cockpit view mode! I have even flown the real things but I fear that my brain is wired somewhat differently from you guys. I really struggle with the spatial orientation bit of me relative to the plane. I have put in some hours now with a drone and I am better with hand eye coordination so I have ordered one of these little beauties and I aim to complete a circuit to break my record! I promise I won't hold it against you if it goes badly!😆 However, if you don't hear from me again then please don't ask!!!
You are absolutely right Dom! Mine arrived today and I flew it solidly for ten minutes from full to a flat battery and it is a piece of cake. I can't believe how clever it is. I even did several stall turns and intentionally for a change! Up to now I have never done a complete straight and level circuit! Even if I fluff it I only have to let go of the controls and it recovers. Can't thank you enough.
@@robinwells8879 Congratulations & welcome to the fun of our great hobby! And to include Robraver also in appreciation of some reasoned intelligent comments amongst the usual Barrack Room Experts that gravitate here.
Great info. Ty for posting. Now i want one to fly. Expert mode sure does look buzz worthy
Good job !
Nice I like!
I just subscribed to your channel.
that is impressive

Hi, can this mini trainstar fly using other RC transmitter like FlySky?

wich is better this plane or wltoys cessna 182? thanks
just got this after your revew
What kind of plane specifically and how long was the flight time
Nice plane👍 I think the cheapest is the wltoys Cessna 182.
I bought one of those , pulled it apart and put all the guts into a Keil Kraft Senator .
Hi mate can t trim mine as normal even though it’s got a gyro auto stabilization?
My inner child wants this.
Problem where I live are trees.
Any open fields where I could fly are private property and I would have to ask permission from the land owner.
Excellent video, especially the slow motion flight at the end.
buy one. Go into a vacant parking lot, baseball diamond, soccer field behind the school. They are small enough to be flown anywhere. I flew mine outside my shop in the parking lot which was only 2 double rows of cars, 3 lanes wide. Maybe 30 car widths long.
I recommend the rc champ from horizon hobbies
It looks like a mini piper cub is easy to spot on the sky and fun
Plus horizon hobbies make great airplanes shoutout to them!
And they are a lot more expensive so big fat no.
@@EssentialRC When they re-issue the Champ in flexible EPP not brittle EPS, add selectable gyro stabilization and get the price down to this level when supplying US buyers from the US warehouse there will be no contest! ;-)
Please can anyone recommend me a R/C Helicopter 🚁(not a coaxial one) with a hover-mode like in this clip which stabilizing without touching the controls sticks?!
I really would appreciate an answer of you guys here on CZcams!
With kindest regards ✌🏼
And have subbed to..nice
All in for less than £40 - I wish this had been around when I was a kid I would not had as much wreckage !!
Absolutely correct
30 years ago it would have cost you $500 to get into the air now you can be flying for under $50, incredible
Exactly Dennis! It's a great cheap way to "av a go" as we say. Cheers Dom (Essential RC)
Start with a quad?! Are you kwazy? Funniest thing I've read today. Well done. Cheers Dom (Essential RC)
45 years ago it would have cost you $2500.
Cheap foam coffee cup!!!! Good for 8/10 then throw away!!
@@dazspurs9899 I don't know what you bought, but I've flown mine in some pretty stiff winds. But you can't expect everything from a $50 r/c plane with a gyro. If you're a novice you shouldn't be flying in the wind anyways.
tQ Sir for your kind share
Nice video, that three mode system is superb! Shame the model wasn't a tad larger - I'd get dots in front of my eyes flying it LOL! Great VT thanks.
They do make one a bit bigger. I think it's about 50% bigger. This is about 500 mm wingspan, the other is about 750. But you need more space to fly it.
@@muskokamike127 This (the V761-1) is 400mm & 3-channel, the V761-3 is 500mm & 3-channel. (same 8.5x20 brushed motor but bigger battery), the V765-2 is 750mm and 4-channel brushless. They go up from there.
I'm into rc boats now but if I ever want to try rc planes I'll start with something like this
Nice little video mate
Joe. U.S.A.....
...so does it have propo throttle - does it have propo control surfaces or simply 3 different full deflection limit stops? - be nice to see radio and model close up with the stick movements shown against model and in all 3 settings - does it have a genuine elec gyro - is it adj?
Prop throttle and rudder, elevator. Gyro not adjustable. 3 position rate switch. Hope that helps.
cheers :)@@EssentialRC
Thanks for your demonstration.. Out of interest, is that radio system 2.4Ghz?
Yes !
I tried helicopters I can handle the small ones but I want to get into planes one day.
Well, I ordered one, hope it works out to be a good purchase. SR
How loud is this? Where I live in the usa there are ordinances against rc flying in parks so I would like something undetectable noise-wise...apart from rubber band planes
I think you need to judge from the video buddy. It's quiet compared to most other things we fly.
i have one... its good. flight time about 20-25 minutes... but u can change bigger capacity...
Wow! That long. I lost concentration after 6 minutes so landed. Cheers Dom (Essential RC)
How far do you think the range is? Do you think it could hold a tiny cam/vtx combo?
I think it probably could. It's quite powerful but you would be full throttle and use the battery quicker. Still would get a good 3 minutes of flight though. Cheers Dom (Essential RC)
It would want to be the lightest of AIO cameras. Even a few grams extra will labour the motor and kill the flight times! Check CZcams for videos. I think Ground Control RC did some on this.
At that price i may give it a go, ta for the video..
Yes sir, I did not get the price of the plane and transmitter. Please let me know how much they are. Don Powell, Tyler, Texas.
Tyler the price is in the link. It's about $60 plus shipping.
Do you think you could paint this ? ..
Hi how much are these with the transmitter etc please? In New Zealand it is $200 without the transmitter. I’d like to give this a go. Rob.

@@aquaticllamas28 Yep my granddad loved his Model T Ford too. Sadly he was killed when the Air-bag exploded on him when he ran into a Bullock Wagon. ;-)
Great video. I ordered one with great anticipation using your link for an upcoming birthday. Signed up to the Chinese shopping sight and waited with anticipation. Got a message today saying my order was cancelled. I emailed them and asked them why. No explanation. They ignored my question and told me to order again. Glad I opted for COD. China companies can be very hit and miss. They are no longer getting my money. A shame really. This is the 2nd time in a row I have been burned buying goods from China. First one was a fake iPhone 6 I bought 2 months ago. :-(
Sorry to hear that. If you share order number with me I could ask my contact to look into it. Cheers Dom (Essential RC)
I didn't know that Banggood offered COD on any of their listings. They certainly don't to Australia. Your CZcams Uploads suggest that you may be resident in Malaysia so perhaps the Chinese offer better terms there?
It's a fun little plane to fly. I bought one and had a blast until I broke the little plastic piece that holds on the prop. They don't sell parts so it's been on the shelf.
Check the Bangood listing, they have spare parts including your spinner.
@@Brian-1948 It's not the spinner, it's the small plastic part that goes on the motor shaft that the prop screws to. I've looked everywhere for it, no joy.
Would the motor mount be the part you need perhaps?
@@Brian-1948 no, on mine, there's a small plastic "joiner" that accepts the screw that goes through the prop, and mounts to the shaft of the motor. I could make one but it has to be perfectly centered or else the prop would vibrate like crazy. One end is hex shaped to fit into the hex hole on the back of the prop, and has a larger hole to accept a small self tapping screw. The other end has a tiny hole that slides tightly onto the shaft of the motor.
If you don't mind me asking how much did that cost and where did you get that again

Hi. Is it available also in mode1?
Sadly no. Cheers Dom (Essential RC)
So...how much does it cost?

@@EssentialRC thanks, I appreciate it.
/Nice video. Whats the actual flight time on fully charged battery?.
I flew for a good 6 to 7 minutes and have some left so don't know. I suspect a little bit more than that. Cheers Dom (Essential RC)
Thanks. Think l will purchase this item.
Hi, I would like to get into RC plane flying. Do you have any tips? (i will be buying this plane)
Visit a local model flying club and watch experienced pilots
@@EssentialRC Thank you
What keeps that plane from flying away? That’s always been my fear, that I would fly an RC plane and not know when to turn back.
Nothing but you. You control it with the transmitter and use one of the joystick to turn it. Easy.
The Tx has plenty of range for this tiny plane - over 100 meters! But DO NOT fly it out of Tx range because when signal is lost there is no fail-safe. The motor goes flat out on 3 we have from Banggood. Wave it good-bye!
Idea: Get rid of the wheels & steels (lots of drag and weight). These are even too small for normal grass fields.
--> Will result in remarkable improvement of flight characteristics.
Wouldn't look very good without the wheels, and it doesn't add any weight really because they are so light, but if that's what works for you.
Sold I'm getting one
The best part of these cheap micros is once you bash the frame enough times, you pull the guts out, build your own plane and continue the fun.
So true, I enjoy these more than brand name planes for that reason.

I agree. Tail heavy
My experience on RC's is that planes will look the same in the air and when they hit the earth. The big difference is how they will hurt your wallet 😄
LOL. +1!!
Nordic it’s so true
Its a shame that many Chinees companies won't ship to the UK any more. I think its to do with the batteries. You can get this at aliexpress for £27.00, but they also won't ship to the UK. "Shame"
I never got to have a rc plane
Beginners shouldn’t start with micros, way to twitchy and unforgiving. I had hours of successful flights right outa the box with a 2 channel V tail 42” firebird commander as my first plane and being a pusher the prop was never damaged. From there work up to 4ch and really start to enjoy Acro and 3D. Bigger the plane the more stable it will fly generally
I'm not suggesting this is for a 'beginner' wanting to learn RC properly. As titled it's for someone wanting to TRY RC flight. Trying something and seeing if you like it is kinda important to deciding if you will invest a few hundred dollars and do it seriously. Cheers Dom (Essential RC)
I totally agree dude, small planes are a terrible place to start flying....
This is about first time 'trying' to fly...and not 'starting' to fly. For me, there's a big difference. Toy end of the market but still a great little durable product for trying RC flight and seeing if something you would want to put more time and money into as a hobby. Cheers Dom (Essential RC)
@@wannahockaloogiewannahocka1040 Yep. Boeing are going flat out to produce enough 787s for all the local "Learn to Fly" operators.
Super fun plane, just keep it close to the ground on extra windy days. I had three planes, now down to one. The other two planes were flying too high when they were taken by heavy gusts of wind and flew into the sunset. Under normal circumstances I could have gotten them home but I could not see the direction they were going in so flight correction was impossible and the gyro kept correcting until I lost sight of the planes. 100% my fault, total inexperience and OLD AGE!!!!! First time was frustrating, 2nd time was just plain nonsense. Lost two planes in one week : ( Had the plane had a camera, this would never have happened but where could you place a camera on a plane this light without completely ruining the flight characteristics. Other than that, I would buy another in a heart beat. Easiest plane to fly except for this guy (ME)!!!
I am kinda sad about what has happened to the RC world. At 50, I grew up with the absolute joy of building RC airplanes from hundreds and sometimes thousand of little pieces of balsa. (I loved my Great Planes Spit) Fitting engines and Robarts retracts....The planes didn't have cameras, unless you used a single shot disposable linked to a servo and that unused channel to snap a picture. Maybe, just maybe you might see something! lol. Most of the fun was BUILDING the plane. Last time I looked at Tower or Hobby Town you can't even buy the old balsa planes. It's all ARF or RTF or a drone. It's all prebuilt Styrofoam with wi-fi and bluetooth that takes no talent to build or fly. Oh well....I guess thats what RC is now.
Amazing, what you can get for around 50 bucks nowadays.
But it sounds like my nose hair trimmer :)
