      Paul and Gene got them there and Ace and Peter kept them there until they couldn't keep it together due to egotistical and chemical substance abuse and your right they were good up until 79 .

      Sorry, but mid to late 80s was amazing, the addition of Eric Carr and Bruce kullick was a great lineup. As much as I hate their egos Paul and Gene kept up with the changes in time.

      That’s was a good hair metal band, but that wasn’t Kiss. In the 70s they were an evolution of the British hard rock bands and the theatrics of Alice Cooper, but in a completely unique presentation. In the 80s they seemed to be mostly just trying to keep up with the likes of Bon Jovi.

      @@kitoyobeni1Exactly. Same thing will happen with all the live videos (like Cobo Hall ‘75,’76 (all three shows) and ‘77) which have “mysteriously” disappeared from CZcams. I can imagine those being included in some kind of Live box set.

      Proof that at some point, Gene actually *could* play bass. Apparently, he's got Benjamin Buttons disease with his playing, though. He seems to actually get worse every single day. Sad, really.

      The decade after, the 80s, wasn't kind to bassists, albeit you did have your Geddy Lees and Steve Harris's, as well as some funk guys like Mark King. But generally, bassists were made to simplify, sometimes to the point of just pumping the root note into oblivion. Like in Def Leppard, Night Ranger, Motley C, Judas P, etc. I think Gene caught that bug, and never much cared about his playing again.

      I saw Kiss MANY times. One show I only watched Mr. Simmons play, he was very professional and didn't miss a note. I have played bass for 40 years. Gene is an excellent musician and good singer.

      Yes indeed! It has a dark and sexy groove. And Ace's guitar solo is one of the best he EVER recorded! Peter's vocal is tight and well delivered. I also love Parasite! And Going Blind which they performed very well on Kiss Symphony! I don't think I've ever heard it done live before that or since!

    sounds better recording ]-wise than what they released. The guitar tone and mistakes Paul made are the only detractors..... Anyone know why the official release of
    Hotter than Hell sounded so horrible? I could never understand how they let that pass.
