Paul and Gene got them there and Ace and Peter kept them there until they couldn't keep it together due to egotistical and chemical substance abuse and your right they were good up until 79 .
Sorry, but mid to late 80s was amazing, the addition of Eric Carr and Bruce kullick was a great lineup. As much as I hate their egos Paul and Gene kept up with the changes in time.
That’s was a good hair metal band, but that wasn’t Kiss. In the 70s they were an evolution of the British hard rock bands and the theatrics of Alice Cooper, but in a completely unique presentation. In the 80s they seemed to be mostly just trying to keep up with the likes of Bon Jovi.
@@kitoyobeni1Exactly. Same thing will happen with all the live videos (like Cobo Hall ‘75,’76 (all three shows) and ‘77) which have “mysteriously” disappeared from CZcams. I can imagine those being included in some kind of Live box set.
I absolutely LOVE those early records before Detroit Rock City. They had a special charm about them. Thank you for posting this '73 demo. Sounds killer! 🤘❤🔥😎
Proof that at some point, Gene actually *could* play bass. Apparently, he's got Benjamin Buttons disease with his playing, though. He seems to actually get worse every single day. Sad, really.
The decade after, the 80s, wasn't kind to bassists, albeit you did have your Geddy Lees and Steve Harris's, as well as some funk guys like Mark King. But generally, bassists were made to simplify, sometimes to the point of just pumping the root note into oblivion. Like in Def Leppard, Night Ranger, Motley C, Judas P, etc. I think Gene caught that bug, and never much cared about his playing again.
I saw Kiss MANY times. One show I only watched Mr. Simmons play, he was very professional and didn't miss a note. I have played bass for 40 years. Gene is an excellent musician and good singer.
I haven’t heard this in so long that I’d forgotten that sound this has on it. It’s so nuts good and so different from what we got on ‘Hotter Than Hell’.
Yes indeed! It has a dark and sexy groove. And Ace's guitar solo is one of the best he EVER recorded! Peter's vocal is tight and well delivered. I also love Parasite! And Going Blind which they performed very well on Kiss Symphony! I don't think I've ever heard it done live before that or since!
Kiss looked like something out of a low budget silent horror film back then! I remember seeing the "Hotter Than Hell" album cover when I was a little kid and thinking that.
So effing good- why couldn’t we get a real album of the KISS DEMOS!?! I know there were songs released via bootleg and on box set but c’mon this rules!!!!
It's amazing just how awful these guitars sound when at almost the same time, the Good Rats recorded the "Tasty" album a few miles away czcams.com/video/iM7PwQ1OmVo/video.html
sounds better recording ]-wise than what they released. The guitar tone and mistakes Paul made are the only detractors..... Anyone know why the official release of Hotter than Hell sounded so horrible? I could never understand how they let that pass.
Ace, a core reason why Kiss had that special sound
Wish that I could Like your Comment multiple times.
His sound is the very definition of Rock and Roll.
ABSO - LUTELY
They won the lottery getting Ace .
@@reubensane5539 Ace with KISS had such a unique sound with creative, positive and memorable riffs!
Watching you and 100.000 Years, are for me the two best songs from the first Kiss era.
All of Alive 1.
"She" is an early (pre) KISS brilliant too.
One of my favorite Kiss songs. This and "Got to Choose" are too often overlooked.
Yes and yes
Got to Choose is one of my favorites! Ace's solo is very memorable.😁
Paul and Gene got them there and Ace and Peter kept them there until they couldn't keep it together due to egotistical and chemical substance abuse and your right they were good up until 79 .
They might have had a 50 year career, but Kiss was really only Kiss from 74-79. Amazing.
I second that
Sorry, but mid to late 80s was amazing, the addition of Eric Carr and Bruce kullick was a great lineup. As much as I hate their egos Paul and Gene kept up with the changes in time.

Creatures is still KISS, you can throw Unmasked, the Elder, and Gene's and Peter's solo shit in the garbage though.
I would actually say really only from 74-78. After Alive 2 I would mail it in.
In a little more than a year later I would discover KISS and never turned back. 🤘
That's awesome!
Great song ! Hotter Than Hell was given to me as a Christmas gift by my Mom . 1974
I think they should bring out a double cd of all their demos
I always buy Demos when I can . . . Demos are played for FUN, not because money is on the line.
They'll milk them, sprinkling them in on overpriced reissues and box sets.
@@kitoyobeni1 that sounds true.

@kitoyobeni1 who is they? Gene and Paul no longer own the label so.....

Kramer should've produced ALL of their albums, from first to last!
I do believe that I prefer this to the album version. For real. Gene's vocal is pretty badass!
💯. The first couple albums sounds like 💩. Great songs ruined by terrible production.❤
DNA of this band at this period was at a all time high
The funkyest tune from them... What a grove!
Like a China Grove!
Nicer version of my favorite kiss song....wasn't excepting this at this point, many thanks!
Kiss is the perfect rock! No matter what year
Rock till death 🎉
❤kiss till death 😘👌🏼
In 1973, in a Demo only there already was KISS greatness and immortality.

It's a bad ass song. One of my favorites from the 2nd album.
Peter Criss kicked ass on this one!
Love Gene's bass playing on these old tunes.

And a thoughtful guy who respects women and isn't materialistic. I mean, since we're just gonna lie...
This is one of Kiss' greatest songs ever.
Heard the Alive III version of this song? Crazy.
Sounds fantasic👍👍👍
I saw them when they played at the Kenosha,Wi. Ice arena about this time. The tickets were $3.00
THAT'S AWESOME!
I love playing this one. This is twangy and trebly.
Kiss Its Kiss! Thanks Gene, Paul, Ace & Peter!
I don’t care what anyone says, Kiss is awesome and cool and I will always love them.
At least FOR SURE here. At this point they weren’t even discovered yet and just firing on all cylinders.
My favourite version of my favourite Kiss song
This is incredible thanks for posting!
Solid New York band. I like it.
Thanx for sharing 🙏
Love from Sweden 💖
Wow, this demo RIPS!
That sounds really good.
" Everybody else is here. Yes, everybody else is here WATCHING US!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Świetny bas, prowadzący cały utwór. To lubię!
Kiss DEMO WATCHIN ,You is great DEMO from kiss way to go 👍👍👍
The demo kicks ass!! Raw ..
Paul Stanley looks like Tommy Thayer wearing Paul Stanleys make-up in the thumbnail.
This is almost psychedelic or stoner rock! Too cool. Thanks for posting!
I'll post more, but eventually these channels always get shut down.
Kick ass. They had, and were destined to be huge.
I love it❤
It's so weird hearing this with almost no distortion! 😂
But it WORKS! 🤘
KISS just love it 🎉
Thanks!
Whole album has a ....dark and unique sound.
Also the tracks they did from HTH on MTV Unplugged. Cool vid.
Awwww hell ya...!!
Early kiss pretty good for demo🎸🎶🎸
Always cool to see the subtle changes in their make up back in the beginning.
Cool demo version.

@ACDZ123 Don't remind me man. I was born in 73. But you know what? You're as young as the woman you feel.
Still very Wicked Lester-y here!
great drumming too, and of course the incredible Abe Freshley licks, and solo
I love Abe. He was honest
I haven’t heard this in so long that I’d forgotten that sound this has on it. It’s so nuts good and so different from what we got on ‘Hotter Than Hell’.
GREAT JOB ALL...THANX 4 MAKING Tee with LIONS NAMED LEO the music worldwide.
LOVE YOU ALL...!!!....MUCH LOVE.!!
Come and rock ‘n’ roll with kiss
Better than the other version, up there with Alive. Eddie Kramer and KISS is the ticket.
Awesomeeeeeee
I totally agree with Terrydrums!
I seen kiss in long island in 73 or 74, i would have never bet they got that big. I didnt think they were all that good
This version is so much better than what was on Hotter Than Hell.
Much more sinister than what ended up on Hotter Than Hell, better playing but the main thing is the VOCALS. Gene is on top here.
Great!
It's considered a lesser track of theirs, but this is a very well-crafted song. r k
True that!
Ace. The greatest.
Strange ways underrated too from this record

The photo alone is worth it
Totally !
The Kramer demos are way better than the record versions. Strutter is especially cool

Much better than what was on record.
No
Love how clean the guitar sounds are- not much distortion at all. Gene sounds great, always an underrated singer and SUCH a good song.
And my mom would say what the h@#$ is that. She gave me a pair of kiss underpants for Christmas. I’m 58. Talent and a love for the crowd helped.
Cool!
This song is done better than the original! Peter was really a pretty good drummer back then !!
Many people seem to prefer this version.
Peter said as the years went on they told him not to play so many fills on the tracks.
@@hardrockheavenXXXSonically it's so much better sounding than the hotter than hell version
I like it

Best studio, maybe. But ALIVE is where it's at!
Ace,when he could kill it
Far better than the album version.
Excellent : far superior to the album version...btw, one of the best tracks Simmons penned for Kiss.
Interesting they saved this song for the 2nd album
Yeah just think if Ace didn't make it a heavier guitar
This band evolved really quick! Just 6 short years later, they would put out I was made for loving you!
trying to get the alice cooper sound
Didn’t finish well but I liked Genes vocals better than the one on the record
peter criss had great energy
It took all 4 original members 2 make this makeup/band work.
Also, if the music wasn't good, they would not have gone anywhere.
Paul's guitar sound is straight outta Romper Room
WAY back when uncle Geno sounded sweet & innocent!
02:03 lol
Studio recordings of them just don't do them justice.
does anyone know if Eddie recorded this "live", or overdub the parts?
Watchin' You is on the Alive album and sounds great whether it was cleaned up or not.
Hotter Then Hell was my very first KISS album
No it's a little bit poppy like wicked lester but it still sounds great
Not sure whether the picture is also from 1973 🤔
73-74, somewhere around there
Creo sin temor a equivocarme que me gusta aún mas esta versión que la grabada para el album. Tiene algunos detalles tremendos!!!!
This has a live energy that the album version lacks... this version kicks more ass!
It's amazing just how awful these guitars sound when at almost the same time, the Good Rats recorded the "Tasty" album a few miles away czcams.com/video/iM7PwQ1OmVo/video.html
Everyones makeup is symmetrical.
Pauls is the one that isn't.
Genius in that department.
Much better played at .75
How cool !!! the first guitar tone is awful though, this sounds great
