You forgot Reuben K died before Joost.
Respect, so many of these players played at the same time, they will be missed. As a South African I will add Chester Williams and Ruben Kruger who have also passed away both World Cup winners with James and Joost.
Damn.. didn’t know that. RIP my childhood rugby hero’s
I had huge respect for Kruger when he first came out to Aotearoa.
Also Joost,he was such a dangerous dude .
James Small had a huge fearless heart and no backdown.
3 of my favourite Boks.
@@harrycullen1643 you mean NZ, there is no country called Aotearoa.
@@alistairclifton1286 Aotearoa - New Zealand.
@@harrycullen1643 remember the likes of Sione Lauaki and Big Norm Berryman
RIP Dan Vickerman (4 June 1979 - 18 February 2017)
Shit??! I didn't realise he had passed away!!! Wow. Mind blown. So dam sad.
All these players in their prime were beasts and freaks of human nature... But the man that stopped Jonah Lomu stood out the most for me... He was an inspiration to his team and his country, I got the privilege of meeting Joost and Jonah at separate times and I tell ya what... Those two boys were just the humblest people you could ever meet.
Gentle Giants, RIP boys....
Kia ora.
Had tears in my eyes...just a small number of the greats that play this sport...as a kiwi, it is beautiful to see the camaraderie on and off the field 😪😪😪...God bless and respects to all of them 🙏
One of the saddest video clips I've seen was Jonah visiting Joost not long before the two of them died.
I remember that. I think what a wonderful game we have. The beauty of the people it produces.
Jonah and James Small walking into the light at the end - lump in throat!!!
Same here, my eyes are swollen up.
So sad. I had not previously seen that Dominici and Small had passed.
Most emotinal rugby vid ever especally as a South African👏👏😢
Big time sad
Kak sad
And also a Kiwi too.Love those Bok stars.
Very poignant moment at the end with Jonah and James walking towards the light together. RIP
If you saw the interview where Joost was still alive and they visited him, small said that they shoulda torn the building down. Many were not in a position to restart their lives in another country, especially the afrikaners. Most idiots don’t even know what an Afrikaner is. It’s a bit like confusing global warming and climate change, only more natural and obvious.
It really tied it together nicely all were legends to many.
What a gift to the world these men were.
RIP MY BROTHERS UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN AT RESURRECTION DAY 🙏 🙏
Such a shame. All were great players who left their mark on the world. Bit at the end brought a tear to my eye seeing Jonah and James meeting up.
I remember Jonah also visiting Joost at his home when he was sick. Very sad indeed
@@soltrain7949 yea I saw that but very beautiful how Jonah embraced Joost tho.
@@gordonwalker7964 Yes, indeed!
What a shot that is at the end with James and Jonah walking towards the light. 💕
Ruben Kruger, Chester Williams, Petrie Wannenburg....
Dominici passing away was something I was unaware of, incredibly fast and elusive. Chester Williams should be in that video too. Great players, who wore their hearts on their sleeves. RIP.
Even the likes of Sione Lauaki dying young to ex All Black and Waikato Chiefs Super 12 Rugby Legend.
Very sad indeed to hear the passing away of such good sportsmen, and good guys.
May all of you " Rest In Peace."
i loved jonah lomu
Jerry Collins was such a beast of a defender. His team mates must've loved playing with him.
R.I.P Legends 🙏
😪respect to all forever in our memories
I cried all the way through. I remember all of them. Best game matches watched at the Bondi Hotel in Sydney. All Blacks Supporters on one side and the opposition on the other side. RIP Titans. You're not forgotten
you left out a legend, Ruben Kruger from South Africa
Seru Rabeni & Maleli Kunavore RIP
Thanks guys for the highlights 🤧👏👍🏿 R.I.P
That was heartbreaking.
I just started to sob when reading your comment. Thanks.
This made me cry
Former AB Sione Lauaki & former Wallabie Dan Vickerman, both died in their 30's aswell.
Did we forget about Ruben Kruger. For sure a legend in his own right
As a Rugby Person that really upsets me all gone before their time RIP to all of them.
Emotion, indeed gone too young. They all brought us joy through the game we love to watch. RIP.
there are not dead there are still in our heart.
therefroe there are still alive
Ruggers In a Place in our hearts. ❣️ RIP our Rugby Idols.😞😞😞
Thanks 🙏 for the video it’s really heartwarming ❤
superbe vidéo très triste gros travail rip a ces très grands joueurs
It's hard to overstate Lomu's impact to rugby. I was 9yrs old during that world cup, and I can remember Lomu bulldozing those poor English players (it was in the semi-final). It was all anyone could talk about, even at school (in South Africa). When the final rolled around, it was seen as forgone conclusion NZ would win, coz how could you stop him.
A great man who ushered world rugby into the professional era.
Other All Blacks such as Sioni Lauaki , Norman Berryman, Dylan Mika , to name a few , gone too early.
So true.
Is that Dylan Mika who played for the blues?
@@moapebatinikeli3176 yes
Went to school with that guy.
What a very moving video.
What about Chester Williams and Ruben Kruger?
Sad sad indeed so many others including my brother legend on his own RIP
Knew about our NZ boys but James, Joost and Christophe also...............all fantastic players who bought magic and determination in their game......God bless 'em all.
Brings back a lot of memories.
Cheers for the memories, truly all remarkable humans. Appreciated greatly.
Nice video. Quite a bit of firepower among those five! Sad to lose these men so young.
I'm not crying...your crying...I fookin love this game..."Rugby is a hooligans game played by gentlemen."
RIP to all these legends.
RIP gentlemen of rugby 🙏🏉❤
Respect to my icon superstar of 🏉 from Tongatapu Island 🏝 🙏🙏🙏

So sad for the losses here but Doddie will battle through.👏👏👏👏👏🏴🏴🏴
Add Anthony Foley
Legends - ALL OF THEM

Glory to God for gifts and what God gave the world through these brothers in arms.

Jonah had lost a lot of weight and condition. He passed away shortly after this visit to South Africa.
In his heyday he was definitely bigger than James Small
Rip Jonah lomu

R.I.P Jonah Lomu

Has an analysis of the causes of death of these players been done?
Such a number of fit young(ish) men dying requires investigation and explanation
They're all different.
Collins was a car crash - just the kind of thing that claims people too young too often.
van der Westhuizen was Motor Neurone Disease, he had been physically deteriorating for a number of years.
Lomu was diagnosed with nephrotic disease all the way back in 1995 and it curtailed his career as well as causing health complications throughout his post-rugby life.
Dominici was found with 'critical injuries' after witnesses saw him climb to the roof of an abandoned building; he had had some failed business ventures and the most likely cause of death is suicide.
Small had major post-career problems with alcohol and drugs and died of a heart attack.
I think the only one that is potentially directly linked to the sport is van der Westhuizen, and that's certainly far from certain. However that he had a degenerative neurological condition - Doddie Weir also is suffering with it - and that we have a lot of prominent sufferers of CTE in major physical sports does lend itself to people making the connection, though whether there is any genuine connection is a completely different question. Most likely the biggest issue is that these men were all playing through the first generation to turn professional. John Beattie made an investigative show into this and it seemed several testimonies basically said that the players in those initial professional days trained full contact continually in much the same way as they did when they were part-time, just all the time, before the sports science caught up.
@@ofs82 thanks
It might turn out that depression and alcohol/drug abuse are associated with professional Rugby as they may be with football
I knew about Jonah Lomu and the kidney problems
MND and sport is an interesting lead to check out
Ruben Kruger?
These deaths are not normal
If anyone like me has a fear of cancer, please allow me one point. Not one of these died of that. Joost can be argued is similar given extended battle but small more realistic given booze. Look at the size of his gut man. So exercise dudes. Will fight cancer.
No piano please,
Nobody dies to soon ,this is god s plan whatever they did in their lifetime is exactly what god wanted them to do and once that was finished he wanted them back
Internal organ bleeding.
