I just love seeing Beth being motherly for once.
yeh she loves to hate Rick for being a bad father but she isnt any different. Shes the same except for the fact that she asked for a clone so she didnt completely abandon her kids
Yeah its this weird relationship she has with her kids. Because she was abandoned and also a fucked up kid she is cynical and doesnt want to fuck up her kids so she is distant. Thats probably due to rick. Also beth wants to be admired by her father and he despises emotion. So when you see her comfort morty like this it means all the more and makes it that much more emotional.

@@appa609 the problem is beth has the foresight morty doesnt have. Because this happened to beth with Jerry. Because she didnt get to take it slow with him she knows that way is definitely the wrong way. She isnt trying to control him she just sees the cliff ahead for him. I did think she was going to be cynical but at the end when she juat comforts him instead of being cynical and saying I told you so. You missed the whole point. And this isnt me describing. Dan harmon did an interview about this episode and how its ment to effect the viewer.
"Did Captain Planet do this?".. no, he didn't, because there was a fifth member of the planeteers who had a heart ring, which gave him compassion, which here Planetina was missing. Only folks who remember the show would have noticed.
Good point. I sorta noticed there wasn't any Heart equivalent, but I also was hoping that would have played more into their relationship. lol Morty barely tried to talk her out of killing people, before completely ignoring her, maybe he could have been the thing to give her a Heart, if he had tried to reach her in a different way, but then again Morty isn't all that suited for that either. ^^

One of Captain Planet’s key ingredients was “heart” which Planetina is missing. Probably why she resorts to murder so quickly. Just a thought.

@@danpierce1120 Remember just a few season's ago though that viewers religiously praised them just for being able to follow the story compared to other reactors?? But lately, with the ever increasing amount of depth and heartfelt moments in the show, it's really shining through just how little they actually wanna respect the characters or can read in between the lines instead of just get drunk and laugh. Can't also forget how Kacee said she's just "natural empathetic" in response to that, even though it was literally just following the story... it's getting more and more annoying to watch this channel the more episodes you watch as they think Morty's Evil Morty just for being more violent this episode or with how religiously they still fixate on Beth being a clone... like, they keep focusing on these ridiculous theories and pointless questions, which is one thing, but, then completely ignore characters development and growth.

Let’s be honest though, Rick and Morty probably have infinite clean energy, or inventing it would be a day project for Rick. Also Morty should probably carry a weapon on him given how often he has to defend himself.
Why carry a weapon when you can just take the opponent's own weapon? Morty is getting as badass as Rick every episode.
It's very odd to see all the different reactions to this episode.. idk if I'm just too invested in this show, but for me this was very emotional. This is more than just a comedy and I think the show is at it's best with episodes like this. It's crazy to see people just laugh during it.
It was emotional, but maybe the two thought people found it cringey? I dunno, some of the laughs seemed insensitive.

Morty: Saves Planetina from being used and abused by her children turned owners, only to go through a harsh breakup that breaks both their hearts due to learning the consequences of why he shouldn't go out of his way to do things he normally wouldn't do ( going out of his way to save animals around where she was at ) purely to get her attention, because differences in one's character and beliefs can tear apart the entire relationship when you don't know someone enough, learn more about them, and have it crash down in front of you from blindly lusting and gunning for them all the same to begin with... a theme of lust and lack of long-term compatibility in relationships that many people and adults struggle with to grow and learn from.

I know, I was so disappointed that this was their reaction to this. I mean, to each their own, but frankly, I feel like most of the deeper moments in this show have gone over their head. Everyone gets their enjoyment a different way I guess.

@@nullakjg767 If that's how you interpret it, cool. I think personally they all matter, and that if the episode's Morty is our Morty, then yeah, it makes me sad for him. He's been through a lot, and him lashing out at Beth and getting his heart broken by Planetina did a really good job at showing us despite how mature Morty is becoming, he's still a kid. And I found that to be relatable in terms of remembering how shitty that kind of stuff felt when I was a kid.

It really feels like Dan Harmon needs a hug. The overlapping theme this season so far is absolutely nothing matters and everyone is going to die alone.
But I did love seeing Alison Brie as Planetina, now we are halfway through getting the entire cast of Community on this show.
So that's Alison Brie, Gillian Jacobs, Joel McHale and Jim Rash so far. I might have missed one. I guess Tony Hale too, who made a cameo in both shows. Probably other small cameos too.

Weakest episode? This was the most emotional and sad episode in all of Rick And Morty, it had such a sad ending with Morty being forced the break up with Planetina because of how crazy she went to protect Earth and to protect Morty

There is definingly character growth in Morty this episode, him becoming more like Rick, sad and lonely and becoming resourceful and smart. At this rate we might see him actually becoming an evil Morty.

I think you need to understand that people will eternally bitch about any Rick And Morty episode that comes out no matter how good it is. 😂
Well, it was genuinely meant to be Morty's first true love. Jessica was a high school crush, Planetina was Morty's first young love. That's why there are no jokes during the end of the A-Plot from Morty's rant to Beth after kicking out Planetina all the way to the ending. It's not meant to be funny or a one-off, it's meant to be serious and emotional. And that's why I love this episode so damn much. It breaks the mold and develops Morty's character, and doesn't just make a joke out of it all.
If you really think about it, they sort of draw a parallel in the episode with Mr. Nimbus. When he is first revealed Morty asks Rick "Why do you have so many enemies!?" And then proceeds to create an enemy out of an entire Narnia civilization. The same way Rick tends to attract enemies by just being around, falling into misunderstandings then using his considerable access to technology to fight back creating worse and worse enemies. Which Morty does in the Death Crystal episode and the Vat of Acid episode, to a degree.
Also I would say the episode probably felt weak because they were really focusing on the relationship with Morty and Planetina. It was supposed to be more of an emotional episode... even though there was apocalypse street orgies. It was intended, which I know varies from person to person, to hit like Rick trying to kill himself at the end of the Unity episode.
Yeah I figured that was the vibe they were going for. They didn't quite nail it tho.

So first off I get yall are trying to be witty and excitable for the likes and a broad appeal. But maybe watch the show instead of talking over it every 5 seconds or maybe pause so you don't miss the explination in the show. Perfect example the post credits scene. You know that they commited incest when you first see them on the planet. Also laughing and joking at a scene that is universally heartbreaking is just douchie. I understand your point but thats what hits people about that scene its universal we all have experienced that passionate love that you dont want to end but you have to because you are not right for one another. And when beth comes in and she doesnt make a I told you so or a cynical comment it breaks my heart. And to break this down further the A story ( the planetina and morty story) is the meat of the episode with the drama with very few to no laughs or jokes in their lines at all. The b story ( summer and rick) thats the part with all the cynical jokes. Hell even the creator of the show said this is supposed to be a sad episode. So yeah please stop being idiots and maybe appreciate the art you are watching. Just because its a cartoon doesnt mean it isnt art.

I understand where you're coming from, but any source of media can be interpreted in any way. Also, they definitely watch the show and pay attention to stuff; they just happened to talk over the one part where it gives context to the after-credit scene, yet it still got a reaction out of them.

I feel like last week’s episode was very deliberately placed. You kinda need what Mortiplicity was selling (ie continuity really doesn’t matter at all) to bypass what’s otherwise a big issue of the Planetina stuff being way less bad than some atrocities we’ve seen Morty commit for incredibly petty reasons.

Since when are miner's solely responsible for what they do? If you want to change something, you need to track down the head of the industry and talk to - or, in her case, kill - him. The worker's aren't choosing to do this of their own free will, they have families to feed. You're basically blaming retail workers for the choices corporate made.
Y'all straight missed all the vibes of this episode. Maybe watch it by yourself, without an audience and you can be genuine in your reaction.

The last third of plot thread A was sad and emotional. I liked the episode as a whole a lot, but let’s not oversell it as some gift from god or whatever.
I mean Planetina was played by Allison Brie who in all actuality is for lack of a better term is an amazing woman, I mean she's beautiful, funny, and all around wonderful, she even married someone who very much compliments her personality traits, Dave Franco. Very underspoken people.
I know Dave Franco for 21 and 22 Jump Street but never expected him marrying Allison Brie, great for both!

Morty shouldn't have broken up with her IMO.. I mean, he knows Rick.. And lets face it, Rick's responsible for orders of magnitude more deaths than anything she might do. Plus she loved Morty enough that he could probably have reached her, if he tried harder, and kept her from going out of control anymore.. Now she's just another loose end out there, like Jessica.. Which is starting to seem like this season's theme.. lol
