Mariota is hands down #1 QB for '14 and was arguably the best last season ('13). He was clearly the most "NFL Ready" and will only blossom this next year. Assuming injuries remain arbitrary, whichever team drafts him will have a dynasty come forth under this young man. Oregon is going to the playoffs :) "you don't have to like a player to admit that he's good"
Of all the quarterbacks I personally watched last year, Mariota had the best touch on his throws. Just some of his throws are so perfectly placed. Also, probably had the best burst of speed of any QB once he is gone
Last year's class of rs freshman QBs is unbelievable. Johnny Manziel, Marcus Mariota, Brett Hundley, Matt Scott, and remember this name: Taysom Hill. These guys are complete studs.
I like how smart he plays. There was a few runs where he'd get tackled inside the 5, and I think it's good that he just went down rather than go head to head with someone for a touchdown. He's smart enoughto realize that no defense is gonna stop Deanthony Thomas inside the 5.
The play starting at 8:58 is, IMO, the best play/decision Mariota made the entire season. It shows a remarkable amount of composure and individual football smarts from a freshman (albeit a redshirt).
Indeed. People also need to keep in mind that he posted these number by basically playing half the season because they would get to blowing out teams so bad by halftime he never really got to play the 2nd half. He'll be a force to be reckoned with come this football season.
Wouldn't surprise me to see Mariota go to the eagles when he goes pro. Chip Kelley is bringin back all the ducks together. Dennis Dixon/Patrick Chung! more to come!
For those who keep comparing him to Kaep your being ridiculous. Marcus is 20, just a kid still. He has amazing arm strength, Oregon just doesn't throw a ton of hail mary type passes to show it
Oh haha well it was a good play anyway! I can't wait to see what Mariota does next season even more comfortable with the offense and he will most likely get more playing time. I think he is a legitimate top 5 Heisman candidate who can challenge Johnny Football for the title of most exciting player in college football, let alone most outstanding
As a Avid Philadelphia Eagles fan, I kind of sense why Chip came to philly this year. He will first "experience" his qbs under his system. if it doesnt pan out MARCUS MARIOTA will be our QB
You are soooo correct!! And I'd also mention that Alabama also gets creampuffs like Western Kentucky, Florida Atlantic Mississippi, and Western Carolina. And somehow thats considered a tough schedule!!! At Pac12 school or any other school wouldn't even get nationally ranked with that kind of schedule much less number 1 or 2!
Stanford was in the top 5 defenses in the country and they actually played real offenses every week unlike the sec where , a&m, bama, and uga are the teams with high power offenses
Mariota is such a talented qb hopes he gets to play for a team that's greats with quarterbacks like the niners, packers, texans, and now that chicago has trestman at hc also the bears and not for a defensive minded coach like the colts and panthers!!
I know Bridgewater and Boyd are going to be the first two picks this year to Jacksonville and Oakland, but the only two quarterbacks im excited about are Mariota and Manziel
Great highlight video. Close to perfect.. only thing you should do is put highlights from the beginning of the season to the end. That will be best like some that I've seen.
Mariota has yet to throw an interception this year. And 27 passing TDs. Winston is a gamer and a proven leader. But if the trend continues for Mariota he will get Heisman.
Considering he gets taken out in the first half of almost every game and his passing TD's and Accuracy Percentage is higher than Manziel's there's no room to talk. Mariota could to the same thing to SEC defenses, SEC is considered to be the best conference in all of college football. I beleive Mariota is here to prove that statement wrong
I think in the end, Mariota will go higher than Manziel because of his size. But Manziel has one thing that no one recognizes and that is his intelligence. He knows how to misguide safeties, when to run and when not to, recognize open receivers, etc. There is also Mariota is as good as he is because of the system he is in. Before you immediately disagree, remember that this is the same system that made Darron Thomas look like a future NFL star and now look where he is.
To tell ya the truth, Mariota had a great Line... They protected him and he had a lot of time. Count if you don't believe me. 5-10 second in behind those beast, everyone can be a star. Look at Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, etc. They always had great lineman. Drew Brees dad was a GREAT football player, but look, he didn't have lineman to block him and got rumbled throughout his career, but he got props to stay strong. Just saying or you can ask Kevin Kolb(was with Cardinals).
I want the Vikings to land him in 2014 if they can unless Ponder wins us a SB. We could really use Mariota if he continues to grow. This will be Ponders 3rd year and if he fails and we get a good draft position go after Mariota for sure. This kid could be special. He does need about 25-35 lbs. more. He like 6'4 200 flat. I would like to see 225 if he can keep that speed. I know the Eagles got Chip who got him on the Ducks but I would much rather see him with the Vikings.
I do agree with the last two comments, Mariota didn't have enough playin time as Manziel because of chip kelly decision, Chip Kelly wanted to share the ball with Bennett cause he was go to guy last year, and I guess felt bad that he wanted to shared the ball since he didn't get the starting job this year, so just to make it fare when ever Mariota and offense put a lot of points in the first half 2nd is Bennett. Just like Oklahoma with there QBs and if Rg3 went to standford it would be the same
Yes! Please Tampa! So sad/upset that we are 0-4 when we are much better then that but if we can scoop this kid up and he performs like this then watch the hell out next season! Hopefully! Lol
Manziel's completion percentage is 68%. Mariota's is 68.5%. That's not a huge difference, but Mariota's was still better. I am a fan of anyone beating Alabama so Manziel is one of my favorite players from last season, and I'm a big Oregon fan, so im trying my hardest not to be biased.
He will be a late first round to early second round guy.. Everyone already has their minds made up that Bridgewater and Boyd will be the first two QB's off the board.
Look at Oregon's schedule u have to play teams like USC and Stanford constantly Mariota is very underrated. In my opinion he is a better playmaker and passer than Manziel.
For as much as DAT has done for the Ducks, his decision making has cost them. 2 fumbles against LSU, yet he's brilliant in Rose Bowl games. Had he made that block, Oregon would have gone on to beat Alabama and won its first national title.
Raw, total, stats don't always mean the quality of play. Just don't get facts mixed with opinion. Not saying Mariota is overall better on stats, but the argument could be made for either.
so ur telling me the guy who arguably had the best single season in college football history outside of maybe cam newton is second to this guy????????I think not
14:30 The play that cost them a shot at the National Championship.
14:30 is the reason they weren't in the championship game, so sad to see such a star blow it like that
I completely agree. Mariota will go down as one of the greatest qb's in college history. Mark my words.
Such a pleasure to watch this guy. Oregon is lucky to have a QB like him. To imagine Mariota and Manziel were both committed to Oregon at one point.
Mariota is hands down #1 QB for '14 and was arguably the best last season ('13). He was clearly the most "NFL Ready" and will only blossom this next year. Assuming injuries remain arbitrary, whichever team drafts him will have a dynasty come forth under this young man. Oregon is going to the playoffs :)

Such a quick, pure release.
Marcus Mariota is going to have an Heisman season if he keeps on doing what he did last season! He is such a good QB,And he is so underrated.
Mariota was a beast in Hawaii high school and now still the beast in Oregon its a good thing he didn't went too Hawaii warriors .......
they're wide open because they have great athletes and because they set up their plays so well
Last year's class of rs freshman QBs is unbelievable. Johnny Manziel, Marcus Mariota, Brett Hundley, Matt Scott, and remember this name: Taysom Hill. These guys are complete studs.

He's amazing. AMAZING!

hope chip has the sense to draft the dude whenever he comes out! great kid too
Is it me or was josh huff a huge playmaker with Mariota at qb and chip his coach?
he was huge him and byron marshall
Indeed. People also need to keep in mind that he posted these number by basically playing half the season because they would get to blowing out teams so bad by halftime he never really got to play the 2nd half. He'll be a force to be reckoned with come this football season.
Oregon and BYU in the 2014 BCS Championship Game. Mark my words!!!
most underrated qb in collge football
Wouldn't surprise me to see Mariota go to the eagles when he goes pro. Chip Kelley is bringin back all the ducks together. Dennis Dixon/Patrick Chung! more to come!
i was thinkin the exact same thing. i was like damn who that big dude that keeps beastin!
What!?? He should of been in the Heisman run too! Hes a GREAT football player.
If Mariota stays for junior/senior years he will be breaking records
This guy is the real deal
To those Vikings fans who want this QB, you do realize that so much would have to change for this guy to work in our offense.
Our offense blows, as does our OC and our HC, that much change would probably be a good thing.
For those who keep comparing him to Kaep your being ridiculous. Marcus is 20, just a kid still. He has amazing arm strength, Oregon just doesn't throw a ton of hail mary type passes to show it
his going to be good in the NFL
Oh haha well it was a good play anyway! I can't wait to see what Mariota does next season even more comfortable with the offense and he will most likely get more playing time. I think he is a legitimate top 5 Heisman candidate who can challenge Johnny Football for the title of most exciting player in college football, let alone most outstanding
Cannot wait for this season!! 2014 BCS title is Oregon's!!

just as good as Manziel with his feet, great in the pocket like Geno and Teddy he is a great qb
Oregon's TE is a boss
I'm a fan of Manziel and Mariota don't get me wrong but how did Mariota not receive as much hype as Manziel? This guy is sick
Stanford was in the top 5 defenses in the country and they actually played real offenses every week unlike the sec where , a&m, bama, and uga are the teams with high power offenses
Mariota could do this to any SEC defense -A highly concerned LSU fan
He a beast
Mariota is such a talented qb hopes he gets to play for a team that's greats with quarterbacks like the niners, packers, texans, and now that chicago has trestman at hc also the bears and not for a defensive minded coach like the colts and panthers!!

The Eagles won't suck enough to get Mariota. Hopefully he'll be a Viking...we sure need him.

awesome QB
Reminds me a lot of Zac Robinson when he was with Oklahoma State
Can't wait for 2013 hope they go to B CS nationals
Beast.
Dude is way better than Johnny Football, coming from a Buckeyes Fan!!!!
Can u imagine AP with a serious run threat QB and a zone read offense?
2015 my bad, he will only be a sophomore next year. After that Ponder will have 4 years and we will know if he needs to go by then.
marcus will stay with the titans. they will build around him
Mariota vs Manziel. When they get into the NFL they are going to light up statsheets
I think in the end, Mariota will go higher than Manziel because of his size. But Manziel has one thing that no one recognizes and that is his intelligence. He knows how to misguide safeties, when to run and when not to, recognize open receivers, etc.

Best QB in the nation
To tell ya the truth, Mariota had a great Line... They protected him and he had a lot of time. Count if you don't believe me. 5-10 second in behind those beast, everyone can be a star. This kid is sick as hell
now that I think of it you are right he does fit the eagles
I want the Vikings to land him in 2014 if they can unless Ponder wins us a SB. We could really use Mariota if he continues to grow. This will be Ponders 3rd year and if he fails and we get a good draft position go after Mariota for sure. This kid could be special. He does need about 25-35 lbs. more. He like 6'4 200 flat. I would like to see 225 if he can keep that speed. I know the Eagles got Chip who got him on the Ducks but I would much rather see him with the Vikings.
looks and throws like kaep.. has good speed, accuracy... deff a 1st rounder
Local bradah doin it big
Yes! Please Tampa! So sad/upset that we are 0-4 when we are much better then that but if we can scoop this kid up and he performs like this then watch the hell out next season! Hopefully! Lol
really impressed by him but i think he should put a little more air under some of his passes
one of these rushing touchdowns in here was bryan bennett... still good though
Manziel's completion percentage is 68%. Mariota's is 68.5%. That's not a huge difference, but Mariota's was still better. I am a fan of anyone beating Alabama so Manziel is one of my favorite players from last season, and I'm a big Oregon fan, so im trying my hardest not to be biased.
from my hometown
My pick for Heisman this year! Mariota is the next Johnny Manziel, minus all the drama.
THAT PLAY ON THE 4 MINUTE MARK WAS QB BRYAN BENNET NOT MARIOTA
This guy rite here is better then Kap7
I'm an Eagles fan and we can draft him next year. We haven't found or starter yet.
In the pac 12 they have adjusted to the spread but most of them cant stop it.
He'll either be a Buc or a Viking. Unless the Bucs and Vikings somehow start winning some games, he's gonna go in the top 5 somewhere.
best qb
Mike Lombardi; do your research!
Mariota & Thomas will make us elite!
He'a taller, that's a huge factor alone
i would cry if that happened
He will be in philly next year
Will be an Eagle in 3 years
He will be a late first round to early second round guy.. Everyone already has their minds made up that Bridgewater and Boyd will be the first two QB's off the board.
9:11? That's Mariota going in motion and he makes the catch for the TD
Can't believe I went to the same high school as the guy haha
Look at Oregon's schedule u have to play teams like USC and Stanford constantly Mariota is very underrated. In my opinion he is a better playmaker and passer than Manziel.
For as much as DAT has done for the Ducks, his decision making has cost them. 2 fumbles against LSU, yet he's brilliant in Rose Bowl games. Had he made that block, Oregon would have gone on to beat Alabama and won its first national title.
In response to Buddy Dooley. He was asking who the hell was Colt Lyerla when a simple google search would've answered his question.
3:57 is Bryan Bennett, not Marcus.
Oregon haves the best quarterback comming up 2013
Roll tide
usc is South Carolina , and yeah auburn did but they had cam and he put that entire team on his back
3:57 is Brian Bennett
I really do hope my Eagles draft him D Jackson Maclin Shady and Mariota = Problem
Bucs in 2014 let's go
Mariota will be a first round pick while Maziel will have three heisman trophys while working at a supermarket that Tim Tebow will be managing at
I truly believe Marcus is better than Bridgewater. It seems he has better instincts as well as being even faster!
Uhhh Texans maybe ........ maybe the new regime will fall in ;love this guy
it really between the eagles or the vikings on who is going to draft him
Josh huff is quite impressive aswell
Raw, total, stats don't always mean the quality of play. Just don't get facts mixed with opinion. Not saying Mariota is overall better on stats, but the argument could be made for either.
I mean only thing is manziel did it in the SEC which is wayyyy tougher competition especially defense
the eagles are calling his name!
so ur telling me the guy who arguably had the best single season in college football history outside of maybe cam newton is second to this guy????????I think not
