You know, I would make a speech, but in my mind I would say, is that really what you want to say? There was this back in my head saying, was that the right thing or are you going, you know, there was this little monkey on my shoulder that kept saying, are you sure? And it wasn't until I was 93 that I finally accepted my voice because of the way I had accepted life on its terms…"

"We have a choice, and the choice is to either look into the darkness and the pain and the suffering and suffer along with ourselves. And it's very easy to get into that place. It's really hard to look at that place and say, well, yeah, okay, this is really hard, but I don't need to be stuck there and then pull ourselves back and look for the light."
"And if something was said and it was just, you weren't going to hang on to it, instead of taking it in and saying, oh, it hurt my feelings and make it hurt our feelings. Or we could just let the petals land in our hand and say, oh, it doesn't matter, and just let those petals and you won't even remember it."

I am in homebound ministry at church (Catholic), take the Eucharist (communion) to the homebound who are elderly, 80s and 90s. It’s an experience, I will tell you that. Good and bad.
