I love your videos! I can't speak for everyone else, but when you are doing fine detail work like repainting, I'd love to see that included in the video. Just put your camera on a tripod and work away. Same for soldering and other work on the electronics. Technique is king.
Those classic Williams sounds were reused on other games, but why not they are iconic and superb.
Every time I hear them I start looking for a Defender or Star Gate game to play.
@@wackyworldofwindios3476 were they used on Robotron too? I don't think Joust used them, but I've not played that very much

Joe was kicking that machine in the ribs for a while. Way better than me on that machine. Seems to me like every target in that game is angled straight down the middle. Ya !! I hit it .. ploink... right between the bumpers every time. It's always one of those super speed flipper shots where the ball screams up the playfield and comes back twice as fast. Super lucky on the red right out of the bottle. I love that feeling. BTW The artist that drew the planet is probably insane now. It had to be miserable getting all of the shapes and colors balanced and then trying to get the shadow right. I guarantee he is in the looney bin. Nice work !

The color was a little off but then I hit it with the clear coat and it yellowed it up slightly, looked pretty damn close when it was all said and done, thank you for watching Dano!

That machine ate so many of my quarters in the 80s, and it's such a fast game. You're either out in less than 30sec with those center shots that rebound right back down the throat, or you get a game like that last one.

When I saw those two areas by the slingshots, I was sure you would shy away from that as being too complex. I guess the beauty of a seemingly random pattern is if you just go with the jist of it nobody will notice. And, the early days of solid state, when they had the score displays count up just like score reels as they were afraid of changing too much all at once.
Cripes! Only just finished yesterday’s and we’re off again! Epic Ron! Drops the logic probe and picks up the paintbrush.

I used to be a color matcher at a paint factory.... Your color matching wasn't half bad, for an amateur.
The repair on the left side, was really first rate. If you didn't know it was there??? Really good. Great job on that one. On the right side, you could have come in with a few more of the blue straight lines, just to "blend" a little.... pretty good though.
Overall, really good. Looked like a super fun machine.... Well done.
If you added white stipple to the right side it would match almost perfectly.

I use the testors hobby enamel for touch ups. If its a large area like around the pop bumpers ill put mylar down over it. If it's just a small area I follow it up with some of the testors gloss coat clear, then just clean and wax the playfield like normal

@@LyonsArcade there's not as many colors to pick from, and color matching can be more difficult, but I find the enamel dries a much harder and more durable paint
What touch up? i think that turned out really well considering the design. Great looking and sounding machine . Remeber playing it many times. Nice to hear Matt again😃

"Turpentine" is what was used to clean paint brushes when oil based paint was the only option

The Who's Tommy Pinball Wizard by Data East has a really good multi ball feature on it - and its not too difficult to activate. I bet you already know this though :D Great work on the repair - especially the paint job Ron!
Sharpies are good for some things but I wouldn't do art projects with them!
Black markers in particular aren't really black; they're more dark violet.
When they wear over time, they go "purple." I've seen this happen in old marker drawings.
Markers in general I don't think are a good archival medium. If you hang up drawings on the wall, gravity can cause them to drift by capillary action and you'll have a problem of smearing in addition to color shifting.
Paints are more stable.
I kind of wonder about digital. That really depends on software and the settings of the hardware an image is displayed.
It's an issue with films and restoration. They've had DVDs, Blu rays, and 4K Blu rays of the same movie that has widely different colors based on who regrades the colors for a particular master of a film! There are earlier DVD and Blu ray editions of films that look better than later 4K remasters. Seven Samurai is better on Blu ray that 4K. Some people think the earlier Blu ray releases of Ghostbusters 1 and 2 look better because the color is more saturated in those editions.
I've cleaned an area of a playfield with lighter fluid because it was really dirty. Id imagine rubbing alcohol would get wax off too

It was just the switch wasn't touching on the flipper, that circuit is very simple, they just added a switch to the flipper to make it activate when it pulls in. Someone (if I'm remembering correctly) had replaced it on this machine but didn't get it adjusted right. Thank you for watching James, glad you enjoyed it!
JOE CLASSIC< for all pinball games the "Trough switch" is always NC Normally Closed? What other switches in pinball games are NC normally closed?
Hi, what a great video, I have a question, after painting do you put something over the paint? like mylar or lacquer?
Yes we clearcoat it with just rattle can clear. We use Satin, seems to match the original finish very well.

I can attest that waxing over paint touch ups will take the paint RIGHT OFF. I spent 2 hrs. touching up my Black Knight only to have all the small touch ups simply wipe away the next time I waxed it. COME ON PEOPLE....listen to Ron.

Good day, great videos. I noticed the two firepower have different inserts' for the power targets. This one your working has red and the other, like mine has blue. how different are the SN of the pins?
Unfortunately I don't have them in anymore so I'm not positive, sorry... they made a TON of them though!

I did want to ask, is there a suggested color code for a DK brown cabinet and white/cream top? I haven't seen anything properly suggested for it.
