    Great video, fantastic to see those bikes of my early childhood unleashed, most humbling to be modern sport bike and shut down by a 70 year old twin...

    The look of the ricer racer: what? No electric starter?
    Than sees the backwheel of the old gal disapear.....

    • @brian.deller8313
      @brian.deller8313 Před 4 lety

      The old bikes always had a self-starter: you started it yourself. No problems if the bike was kept in good tune. Even my lat bike, a 1981 Ducati 900 SS had no electric starter. Always started fist kick. Why carry all the extra weight of the starter and the heavy-duty battery?

      @@brian.deller8313 Kick starting a Vincent is damned hard sometimes,so a little starting roller is just the ticket so you don't wear yourself out trying to get it light.

    • @brian.deller8313

      The Vincent HRD road bike was renowned for having the most powerful brakes of all road bikes with a deceleration force of 1G fro 2¡30 MPH which was the comparison standard then for all road bikes. with four 7-inch drum brakes, no twin - leading shoes but the drums were mounted outside of the wheel so no drum distortion due to spokes. I rode one for 27 years mostly on the road but at the Vincent Club Race Days, the original brakes allowed me to out-brake even the Norton framed Vincents that had disc brakes (what a mistake that was to convert from the original) and I won three tropies at my first meeting at Cadwell Park all those years ago. In South Africa racing in the big Classic Motorcycle Club's racing the first year I won the overall trophy causing the competition to spend lots of cash on modifying their 750 cc Norton Atlasses, and other bikes with race kits. Even then I was only slowed by my Vincents' footrests, which were raised to the highest position, grinding on the road while cornering. But the Vincent was designed to be a very fast touring bike, not a racer. Happy days when I was young about 50 to 60, not 82 as now. But the memories are very important in your senior years.
