When it starts to get colder and the grass in the Alps starts to run out, it's time for the alpine farmers and their cows to go home to the valley.
This is traditionally celebrated with an Alpabzug. The cows are cleaned and washed and then decorated with flowers and bells.
This Swiss tradition takes place every autumn, around the middle of September

The way they ornament them shows their love and pride for their animals.
It's a kind of saying "Thank you" from the Farmers...in their way:)

I love it is a wonderful Swiss tradition, the return of cows to their cattle sheds, prior to the winter season. A well organized parade, with a lot of color and a lot of joy, thank you for showing us this beautiful tradition ❤️

Thank you Sylvia for an explanation of this tradition. I have one question ... what happens to cow shit on the road down and thru the towns down below? I've never seen any in your videos and wondered who cleaned it up. This is a wonderful tradition and I'm so glad it is being continued.
They clean it up after they went down - normally. Or they wait until the next rain:))))
