You get a real idea of how different society was then. People with much less money, choice of food was much less, and there was a real "waste not want not" mentality.
What enables the UK's standard of living to be much higher now than it was in the 1970's? You have far less manufacturing jobs today then the 1970's. Here in the USA our standard of living peaked in 1973. Our standard of living has plummeted since then.
Why do people just go on about the bloody fridge on these comments? Ffs, appreciate the video and historical footage being shown all these years later. And be in awe that Mary Berry is still going strong. That's the wonderfulness of this

I love how she has jolly useful colored bags for fish, meat and fruit, yet her freezer is absolutely packed with transparent plastic bags. 😁

What people need to remember in the 70s freezers were scary. Mary literally had to put them step by step through many housewives who started working in the late 70s could make home made meals and freeze them. It really was a revelation…

I'd say mary hasn't a clue what's in that godforsaken mess of a fridge... my freezer with peas from 2018 and half a box of fish fingers is far better organised
